I waited over 20 years for this.
If u played on gold or silver you really only waited 1 year. This wasnt added juat for virtual console, If you have a physical copy of crystal you can do this

Every run I did with cyndaquill my quillava/typhlosion knew cut, rock smash, fire blast and lava plume

I remember back in the day when Crystal first came out. A lot of rumored ways to get Celebi flew around like wildfire. All fake of course. So I'm glad they finally made this thing permanent for everyone to experience! ❤

its honestly kind of bittersweet.
I literally started sweating when he didn’t save before triggering the event. (I know Celebi has a high catch rate but still, it’s a mythical)
I'm happy they made the Celebi event available for everyone permanently.
Outside of that Pokémon Bank Celebi, I think this is the only Celebi you genuinely own and not have someone else's OT on it, preventing you from naming it.

It's sad that the gs ball plot in the original anime was abandoned.
Blame the movies for existing. Would've blown my mind as a kid. Poor Takeshi Shudo. Feel like the Meloetta plotline in the B&W anime was a reference to that, but by that point in the anime trainers having Legendaries wasn't special, neither were the Legendaries even appearing in the anime for more than one episode. Or Legendaries at all.
Protip: it takes a day for Kurt to realize what the GS ball is, just like apricorn. You can advance your 3DS internal clock a day to get it instantly. REMEMBER TO SAVE CONSTANTLY.
Ok I'm still going to make a glitchy sneasel hybrid in my cartridge one eventually but it's great to know for the 3ds one and Gen7 it is a consistent and easy thing

i remember have mew in pkm blue and celebi in gold , a friend go to a nintendo event, and then pass me the celebi, the only kids in the hood having it, crazy times...
now you can get mew easily in brilliant diamond by going into floroma town and talking to an old lady, if you have save data of lets go she gives mew

they must have added it in the 3ds release because you could not get the gsball without hacking in the gbc games.

Only trading and Celebi (I don't think mew event was modified in) were modified for virtual console, everything else is the exact same, including the glitches, but most glitchmon can't be transferred to bank
This made me want to play the game a whole lot mawr.

what do you mean wait untill after midnight do you mean that it is only after 24:00 in game time or can it just be picked up after midnight say 13:00
Moriya Suwako Why would 1300 be after midnight? That's usually 1PM in military time. He very likely means after 2400 since it's night time in the footage
so as long as you wait 24 hours and then you can get it
My luck is terrible. It took 20 ultra balls and 2 great balls to catch it. And that was with its health in the red. You didn't even need to do any of that!

Am I missing a step? So I just beat the elite 4, the Lance guy is the last one right with the dragons and Charizard, went to goldenrod but I wasn't stopped while leaving the Pokemon center, someone help me lol

I know you couldn't get it multiple times in a save file, so I'm talking about if you restart the game from the beginning after beating the game so that you can play it again- in that case, can you get Celebi again in the next save file?
@@BigAlvideos101 yes, Nintendo added into the game to be able to access the GS ball at the end of the game, you can get another one if you restart a new safe file

haha yeah getting a boring AF regular celibi is easy getting the shiny one to Soft reset for it is gonna be a huge pain in the ass to get !
NintendoSonyfreak2011 Not really, GSC have the easiest shiny possibilities in the entire series.
and that's where the coin case glitch comes in...I dunno if you actually soft resetted for that shiny celebi but I got mine in about 5 minutes by renaming some PC boxes and opening up my menu.

Do you have to do anything to trigger this event besides beat the elite 4? Like was it an event or is it still part of the game? I'm thinking of buying the Crystal version on my 3DS and if Celebii is available still I'd buy it!
Celebi is still available. All you need to do is become champion, it's not a timed event.

@@spcooper94 yes. Already did it. You need this to be on your 3ds. You will also need poketransporter and pokebank. Just put the celebi in your PC. And go in to transporter on your 3ds. It will read your yellow and crystal version for the 3ds and it's pokemon. Simple place into the transported to transfer it to pokebank. From pokebank just transfer it to your sun and moon or x and y or omega ruby or alpha Sapphire version

Only availabe in Crystal
This Celebi event was already available in the original release of Crystal, just without a legit means to get the GS Ball. So it didn't take much to add it in.
Icy Wind It required use of a mobile phone, since those were not usually available to children outside of Japan the event was scrapped as it was too difficult to implement.

When you said you have to wait until after midnight are you able to change your 3DS clock to do the process faster or do you have to wait?
Okay I know I'm replying to a three year old comment but maybe someone will see this in the future. The in game clock is separate from the 3DS clock and you need to set the time at the beginning of the game. After that you can only switch between DST and normal time. Like Gold and Silver there is a key combination to change the time in crystal however it is not as easy as gold silver

PhantomDR I got mine not even 5 minutes after I beat the Elite Four. I went straight to Kurt after getting my GS ball modified my 3DS date to the next day to skip the day that I need to wait and got my Celebi a few minutes later.

Calm Cherrim This will only work in the Virtual Console version as this event was exclusive in Japan. Mobile phones were not something children back then had access to, they were mostly for business types in the US, it was opposite in Japan. Since the event required you to use a mobile phone to access it and children didn’t have them back then the event was cut and made a Japanese exclusive until the Virtual Console version was released.

But if you did buy the code in a store for the virtual console version, it should work. I know GameStop did it for Red & Blue's eShop release.
Short answer is: all you need is the virtual console version.
