I think I am going to put the little bump stop thingies on the deflector. Not my new shiny truck. I got my AVS Deflector from a buddy and he lost the instruction sheet. So I am a little surprised that they would have you put them on the truck. Other than that a very well made, high quality video. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.
Since filming this video I actually just completely removed the bump stops. The way this is installed, I don’t see any possible way that the deflector could ever get pushed in enough to actually touch the truck. It’s really stiff. Either way , I hope the deflector works well and that you love your new truck. Thanks for watching!
Great videos, i just got a Ranger, and because of your video, just bought that bug deflector. Next on the list is the tailgate dampener, also from your videos. Please post more Ranger improvements as you get them for yours
@@ThanhNguyen-kd5ny Heh - it was REALLY new when I shot most of these. :) It's not so clean under the hood any longer... but you can take it to a car wash and spray out the engine compartment if you really want to try to get it cleaner. Thanks for watching!
Thank you sir. Our Ranger will be going on some quite long road trips, and I've been looking for a deflector that I can easily remove when we're home. The AVS deflector is the ticket.
Thank you, I did install the damper and it fit perfectly. I will get this bug deflector and install it. I'll let you know how it works out, thanks again.
@@AmplifyDIY I see your truck has running boards. I need to add them to my Ranger. Any chance you did a video for those or did it come stock ? Thanks !
Great video. Thank you very much. I just installed mine and it didn’t take much time at all. I did have my wife help cause an extra pair of hands seem to do the trick to keep the bug deflector in place as I was trying to put the pushpins and correctly
Very good instructional, thank you. One thing though, you didn't want to put any tape on your hood but you stuck the bump stop to your hood! Why not put the bump stop on the inside of the deflector itself?
Thanks! My rationale when I filmed this is that the 3M Automotive tape is so strong it can peel paint off when you try to remove it. The adhesive on the bump stops is nowhere near as strong, so I was not concerned. However, the deflector is so stiff I don’t think it needs any bumpers at all. I’ve actually removed them entirely. If I ever put them back on, I’ll mount them on the back of the deflector as you suggest. Thanks for watching!
Great quality video! Thanks. Have you found that leaves or anything else accumulate under the deflector? Concerned about things getting stuck in that 'channel' that's now created.
Thanks! No, I have not had any problem with stuff collecting. There is ample drainage holes in the bottom corner of the deflector as well, so water does not poop there either. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
Now that's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that - it seems so obvious now that you mention it! I'll be taking the deflector (and bumpers) off the truck to install a ceramic coating in the next week or 2, and when it goes back on, I'll put the bumpers on the deflector instead. Thanks for the idea!
Works great - no issues. I'm really glad it is there, as several times when washing the truck I've found evidence in the deflector of rock strikes which would definitely have chipped the front of the hood. Thanks for watching!
Hi Adam! Yes - a few other viewers also suggested this, and it's what I now recommend. In the video I followed the install instructions, but if I were doing this again I'd stick the bumpers to the inside of the deflector - or, just leave them off entirely. I removed mine when I detailed and paint corrected my entire exterior. The deflector never flexes enough to get close to the actual paint, so I didn't bother putting new ones on. Good luck, and I hope you love your Ranger!
I've never removed mine, but apparently there are 2 10mm nuts you need to remove from behind the emblem. More info here: www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/removing-front-rear-emblem-2019-ranger.4199/post-273632 Good luck!

Doesn't want to put adhesive on his new car but puts sticky tabs on there anyways haha. Well thanks for the video! Super detailed instruction I appreciate it. Also, couldn't you also have put those clear tabs on the deflector itself instead of the paint?
Heh - yep! You can definitely put them on the deflector instead of the paint. Also, the adhesive on these little bumpers is not nearly as strong as the 3M automotive tape that is used with other deflectors. That stuff is strong enough it can potentially pull off your clear coat if you ever need to remove it. Thanks for watching!
Hi Jeff - I don't know for certain, but after looking at a couple of eBay listings for part number KB3Z-16C900-A I see what appeared to be mount holes on the lower side of the deflector. This would *seem* to indicate to me that it is mounted in a similar fashion to the AVS one I showed in this video. However, don't take my word for it. You can always call your local dealer and ask. Good luck!
I would have put this bumpstops on the deflector itself instead of on your paint .when it gets hot out it's going to melt and over time it will take the paint.
Good tip, Gold. I actually removed the bump stops when I ceramic coated the truck, and added them to the inside of the deflector itself instead, as you have suggested.
Hi Rene - I know this works on the North American Rangers that were introduced in 2019. I know these Rangers were based on the World Ranger that has been selling in other markets for several years earlier, but there *are* some differences. I don't know if the body panels are an exact match... the hood may be *slightly* different. I'd recommend you check with the manufacturer to make sure you are getting the right one to fit your truck. Good luck!
I didn't have any issue - are you sure you layered things correctly? The deflector front lip goes between the hood and the factory liner, as I recall...
I had a heck of a time with this my 2020 Ranger, I find those fasteners do not hold very well, I snapped 1 screw head as well very flimsy, is there any place for replacement hardware?
Hi Mark - sorry you had a hard time with it... the fasteners can be a bit finicky. I'm not sure if you can find exact replacement hardware, but I'd take an example of what you need to your local auto parts store (O'Reilly's, Autozone, etc) and see what they have in stock that may work. It's a good bet they'll have a close (if not perfect) match. Good luck!
@@AmplifyDIY Alright second go at it, some new inserts mixed with the factory ones,.found some were still popping out as I went along, then couldn't get the hood to latch , I removed one gramet at the front and after that it closed, seems soild enough, but I'm worried over time with the opening and closing with this shotty hardware lol
@@markmarino3750 Hey Mark - sorry to hear about all the trouble you had. I hate those stupid fasteners as well... you have to be SO gentle with them or they just break. As for the hood latching issue, I did a video all about how to adjust your hood latch so that you don't have to slam it, and the deflector won't rub on your paint anywhere: ruclips.net/video/J2wvighggDs/видео.html - maybe adjusting that latch will make life a little easier on your hood, the hardware, and your paint. Good luck!
