I made an LLC to get the benefits of setting up a single-member nursing company. I couldn't travel during the pandemic, but it was still a BANDemic. I started off in a very busy inpatient PACU setting where I rotated to different PACUS (same day surgery, endoscopy, main, cath lab/IR) for about a year and a half before I started to take contracts. Hey Karen! The gist of PACU Nursing is recovering patients as they are waking up from anesthesia. This includes monitoring vitals signs, assessing pain, giving medications (BP meds, pain meds, antiemetics, etc) when needed and reviewing discharge education with patients when appropriate. This is a very simplified description and there is a lot that goes into this depending on the acuity of the PACU. I also made a video about my PACU nursing experience if you are interested: ruclips.net/video/sG_448kpyWY/видео.html

    Hi. Ive been searching for videos on local travel contracts. There are very few which somewhat scares me. So I'm very greatful to have found you. And thank you so much for the agencies. I have been having a hard time finding those as well, or maybe there's just not many jobs available in Florida. My question is about pay. So many say that its not worth it. Once taxes are cut from the check you're making the same amount as a staff nurse. Im hoping this is not true. I would love to go nationwide to travel but that's not my reality right now but I was thinking I can at least do local contracts and perhaps find an opportunity here and there to do something around the country. But I really want to make more, ;earn more, experience different demographics and systems, different hospital communities and the culture of how each one works. Please tell me though, that there is a significant pay increase in the local contract arena. Im currently a 2yr experience med-surg/tele nurse. My hourly pay is $32/hr. Post taxes, I'm looking at about 1300 bi-weekly. Sometimes 1400. Can you explain how local travel pay differs or is the same? or what variables determines the yes or no to that question? Thank you, will be awaiting your reply
    Actually can I call you or you call me lol. I’m so serious 954 579 4857. It would be so much easier. I have questions on questions and no one I know does local contracts

    • @InMyLayne
      @InMyLayne  2 года назад

      Hey Julie! Feel free to email me! My email is on the about section of my channel page!
      I'm currently working in the DC area and based on my experience, travel pay is significantly more than staff nursing. If you are willing to go to another state, you'll make the most money because you will also get a tay free stipend for housing, food, etc. For local travel I've found that I also make more money than I did as a day shift inpatient nurse. Keep in mind that taxes may or may not be taken out already depending on the contract. Even with that though I would say that I'm making more money with less stress because I know what to look for now when it comes to contracts and I know how to negotiate my pay. Feel free to reach out with any more questions!
