As an Indians fan since I was 9 in 1968., Uecker saying "Oh my God , the Indians win it." always brings tears to my eyes.
Such a Joyful moment for us Indians fans!
Grew up in Wisconsin, Uecker has been calling brewers games longer than I've been alive. I am so grateful when I hear him in the radio in the spring
One of a kind in that industry, his humor is top notch
So did I. I would lay in bed with my radio on low so my mom didn't get on my case for those games that went past 10 PM. Those were some memorable days on the farm.
@@phprofYT wow! Love that story, thanks for sharing
He isn't just a beloved broadcaster, he is a Hall of Fame broadcaster
💯 true! Thanks for the comment!
Probably on the Mount Rushmore!
@@user-gl6mq1lr6f Definitely is!
He'd still prefer to get in for his playing career.
@@HariSeldon913 lol
My favorite Harry Doyle line is "Heywood leads the league in most offensive categories, including nose hair. When this guy sneezes, he looks like a party favor."
😂that’s such a good one!
Dudes were built different in the 80s haha
Clu Haywood...played by former MLBer George Vukovich.
@@russellgrosser-7677PETE VUCKOVICH
@@russellgrosser-7677 Actually I think it was Pete Vukovich. Its confusing though, because George Vukovich briefly played for the Indians in the early 80's.
Bob Uecker was so good in this!
Don’t know anyone could’ve done better!
"He'll need a rocket up his ass to catch this one." Another of the memorable lines that made Bob Uecker's portrayal of Harry Doyle perfect.
You another great line! So many!
Even before Major League when he was part of the broadcast team for the game of the week on NBC or ABC - he used his self-deprecating humor about his career to keep the announcers and viewers laughing. Dude is LEGEND! Not to mention his Miller Lite commercials!
His humor about his own career is classic. Not many people have the humility that he has or the sense of humor! And those miller lite commercials were so good!
i seriously miss the days when sports commentators had personality and were allowed to have fun during a broadcast. remember to support your local radio broadcasters because god knows they're 10 times more interesting than anything fox or cbs could put together
💯!
They were allowed to have fun!
Remember Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese
@@JeffRyman69 great players of their time!
Bob Ueker is just one example of MLB as a part of American culture.
💯 agreed!
Yup, nothing even close, nobody can even hold the candle,we all should miss those days, never again
You're so right!
My coach took our entire baseball team to the theater to watch it. Saw it 2 more times on dates 😁
That’s awesome!
As a Brewers fan, I've been extremely lucky to be able to listen to him my whole life.
Get up! Get out! GET OUTTA HERE GOOONE! Can always send chills down your spine
I'm 73 and spent my childhood & early teens living about 20 miles North of Milwaukee, so I had the privilege of actually watching Bob Uecker playing for The Braves.
@@AFmedic wow that’s so cool!
Yeah in Cleveland, we’ve been lucky to have Tom Hamilton on the radio, one of the best. But uecker made this so funny!
@@TheMoviePodium Hammy is so good!
Man I can't imagine getting to listen to him all the time!
If memory serves, the stadium scenes that were supposed to be in Cleaveland was in fact filmed in Milwaukee. That would have put Bob right at home.
Exactly! Yeah browns preseason when both the browns and Indians were playing at old Municipal!
@@TheMoviePodium What a dump! haha
You can tell how comfortable he is in these scenes too.
The old Milwaukee County Stadium. I saw a lot om historical events at the Stadium. I do miss it.
@@billf1 were you there when Cecil hit it out of the stadium (Tigers fan asking)?
Bob Ueuker had funny memorial lines before Major League. I loved his being in the front row. Just a bit outside is a classic.
He was one of the best to ever do it, that’s for sure!
A juvenile delinquent in the offseason ....im crying right now
Such a good one!
He was hilarious. He stole the show. I love the line. "Just a bit outside."
It’s still so good and embedded into our vernacular!
So many memorable characters, but he might be the best!
and I've heard that line was adlibbed by Ueker
@@nintendonerdsvideos4727 yeah that’s such a cool fact!
Uecker is in that small room of the Hall of Fame reserved only for the greatest of the Great. He doesn't need to take a bank seat to anyone including Bucks, Caray or even Vin Scully.....yes he is that good. Thank God I've been able to listen to him for the last 50+ years
Agreed! And so lucky right?! One of the best to ever do it. Thanks for the comment!
🎵There's a red moon rising
On the Cuyahoga River🎵
Yesss! Randy Newman ftw!
Well done guys!
Thanks!
As Cleveland natives, "Major League" is one of our family's all-time favorite movies. My dad will remark that Uecker's character looks like a Harry Doyle! 😂
He and I quote Harry Doyle often: "Free admission to anyone who was actually alive the last time the Indians won the pennant!"
"Ball four." "Ball eight."
"Welcome to another edition of Teepee Talk!"
"The Indians have won a few games here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar."
😂😂😂😂😂
Grew up big Indians fans ourselves! For a long time this was the closest thing we had to winning something. Until that 95 World Series at least and the 97 and 2016. Too many almosts 😂but major league was such a fun ride and Uecker was a big part of it!
The whole family went to my first game when I was 7 in 67.
I waited in the rain for about an hour to get into the movie the first day of release.
@@suds5214 that’s awesome! Thanks for memories!
Ueuker was the best part of that film.
His commentating definitely brightened up this movie and yeah probably the best part! Even though he's really not in it that long
"I think we got hosed on that call."
With the gesture 😂
Just a bit outside. Ball 4 ball 8 ball 12 and Vaughn walked the bases loaded on 12 straight pitches 😭
How can these guys lay off pitches that close
He's Mr. Baseball for a reason
Exactly! The best
"Post-game show brought to you by...(fumbles drunkenly through notes on desk)... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it." 😂😂😂😂
Can you imagine if the announcers were allowed to drink!
He made these movies as popular as they are, Yes the movie would've been good without him, But He made them GREAT!
Exactly! Still a funny movie, but the dynamic he added made it one of the best
@@TheMoviePodium Juuuuuust a bit outside,LOL 10 feet from the plate!
@@prowannab 😂so good!
Absolutely! Wonderful performance.
So many awesome quotes 😅
Couldn’t even pick a favorite! Just a bit outside might be the most iconic though.
This guy threw at his kid at father son game 🤣
Brought to you by.... Christ, I can't find it. To hell with it! 😂
@@SouthernMan72 hahahah yesss
Hell yeah! Who else would it be, my favorite line is, one hit! One God damn hit, you can't say that on air, it's okay no one's listening.
😂😂one of the best!
Pretty much summed up Tribe fans' apathy from the 1970s through the early 1990s.
We lived through it. 😒😤😡😬🥺😔
@@russellgrosser-7677 it was a rough time! Other than Barker’s perfect game in 1981
@@TheMoviePodium It was against the Jays, April 1981. The Stadium was something like 85% empty.
@@russellgrosser-7677 yeah crazy how after this movie the attendance and the team turned around once they got into Jacobs field!
Bob Uecker is a treasure.
Yes he is! There aren’t too many announcers like him that’s for sure!
I bet I say, "just a bit outside" 100 times a year. I may not even think of where I got it from at this point.
It’s such a common phrase now!
bob uecker is the real life mvp of just about everything imo. guy is a hilarious legend. the best kind of legend.
Definitely a legend! One of the best of all time
Major league 2 is worth watching just for him.
Exactly! It’s not the best, but he still has some great lines!
"When this guy sneezes he looks like a party favour"
Haywood leads the league in most offensive categories including nose hair 😂
@@TheMoviePodium 😀😃😄😅🤣 #Pete Vukovich...An original Toronto Blue Jay picked in the 1976 dispersal draft from the White Sox organization. Very fun player who never did much with the bat during his time in the National League.
@@internationalbroadcastingc4493 probably more of a legend for this movie than anything else!
@@TheMoviePodium Yep, he was Cy Young level in both leagues. But his career was sadly quite brief.
@@internationalbroadcastingc4493 so many players like that! Always sad
Absolutely!
I wonder what baseball movie Bob Uecker would put on. They all used to be on vhs tape. I would put on major league 1 & 2. or the Natural
There are 3 to 5 or 6 movies with kids in them >But another adult one is moneyball no Bob Uecker but it's one of watched several times.
I didn't watch the brewers on t v like I do now. So I heard years of Bob, living in wisconsin. The only thing when I listen to the brewers on xm radio when on the road they would only give you the away feed boy For the last few years Bob doesn't go on the road anyway.
That guy reminds me of myself!
💯
Bob is just a funny guy. 👍👍💯🇺🇸
One of the best in the business for a reason!
Uke made up a lot of stuff as he went along like putting burboun behind his ear. Loved Bob in the Miller Light guy's commercials, my favorite commercials of all time.
💯amen!
He is still alive
@@chillydawgg4354 You're right, my bad. I have trouble keeping up with such things, so many of my childhood heroes passing on. I have amended my post accordingly. Thanks for the correction.
He was great !!!!!
So good! Thanks for the comment
I miss Chief Wa-hoo and the Indians
💯
The Best
💯
But does he know what truculent means
😂
You can’t say that! Who cares nobody’s listening 🤣
You can’t say Jesus Christ on the air 😂
One hit? We got one GD HIT?
You can’t say GD on the air
No one’s listening anyway
(Quoting from memory; probably messed it up)
😂that one never fails!
Just out sideeeee
😂😂
Too bad the team gave in to political correctness and renamed the team Guardians.
