- Columbia University began suspending pro-Palestinian protesters who refused to disperse despite a deadline of 2pm on Monday (Apr 29). The protesters had put up dozens of tents in campus to express opposition to Israel's war in Gaza.
Similar encampments have been set up elsewhere, including at UCLA and Texas State university, as students protest Israel's operation in Gaza and the perceived complicity of their schools in it. cna.asia/4ddfpa9

(Virginia Commonwealth University) April 29. The police entered the campus and fired tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the crowd, and many people were detained.
In the democratic countries, including the US 🇺🇲, people can protest.
That's why people shouldn't take democracy and freedom for granted. They must be protected.
The Global West is complicit in the genocide in Gaza while promoting a fake genocide in Xinjiang and claiming to care about "human rights" and "democracy" in Hong Kong.
But in reality did not. They suppress, with force.
Campuses do have rules...
Freedom of speech and assembly (only if it suits their needs)
So no democracy, no freedom of speech 😂
No, but a beautiful sight to behold.
They did the same thing when students wanted to demonstrate their support for Ukraine, amirite?
*USA agree ICC about Netanyahu in jail.*
USA is country democracy.
Free USA from Aipac Israel 😂
US agrees to let ICC charge Netanyahu? I doubt it.
The Tian Anmen of America - except for tanks there are armed rifles and bullets. Instead of Tian An Men Square you have an Ivy League University. This is very serious. If American civilians can overwhelm Capitol which is heavily guarded, what other public institutions can be exempted?
In democratic countries , students also have the right to study . What rights does these protestors have to blockade the campus over the rights of the other students to study ? One group rights is more important than the others?
FREE PALESTINE ❤ from Australia ...respects to yemen people
Stop oppressing your aboragins first
@somethingisnaking. Fist and foremost today, stop the genocode. Stop distracting people from the crime against humanity.
@@katong1953 so talking about other people's oppression is a distraction. Got it
@somethingisbaking. Right now, yes. You go figure; it's very simple.
These students must be held accountable. And must be treated as accordance to law
@samueltan. Then why doesn't the US treat Israel in accordance with international law? The iCJ has made a ruling. Minor trespass law more important?
The protestors can receive their education in Madrasas. It's the same.
@osmanzng. Your education is all wasted -- defending a genocide.
The students are naive or pro-Hamas. The uni seems a bit clueless.
The protests started recently, not 6 months ago. Meaning the kids did their research and some professors stand with them. 😊
i noticed Egypt n arab did not offer asylum or open their borders for the Palestinians but egg them to fight Israeli. anyway double std practice since caveman's era.
The governments are sellouts but not the people. 🙄
So the university will bring in more from PRC
PRC students not going to US. Leaving US now the new american dream.
Police entered the University of Texas at Austin campus on the 29th to clear a camp supporting Palestinian demonstrators. During the process, they deployed pepper spray and dragged away demonstrators who refused to leave. About 50 people were arrested.
While the us says we are forever complicit
I agree with the first two requests. Those are reasonable. But the third condition of amnesty... there are consequences to people's actions. This is something they should have thought about...
I'd also like to see what the protesters were willing to offer to get those three demands.
@joetran. Should there be consequences for the butchers? Too many people are oncerned with alleged minor transgressions of the law, but looking the other way when it comes to genocide.
They should sacked them out from university 😏😏😏😏
@No_mercy. For trying to stop a genocide? Something is wrong with you. Go to university for what?
@No_mercy. Hmm... genocide is that unimportant to you.
This should be an eye-opener to Arab and Muslim leaders who do not allow their own citizens the slightest chance to protest in their own countries but egg them on when they do so in their adopted countries.
Huh?😂
Listen... protesting is technically prohibited according to Islam fundamentalist. It is after all a peaceful religion. Just because Muslims are on the street protesting does not means that it is encouraged in the religion of Islam. I'm not giving my opinion. I personally would protest. I'm just providing facts.

The university is private property. The students want to attend it and applied. As the owners of the property the management has its own rules.
This is Karma.
In 2019 , U$ EU UK CAN AUS politicians encourage HK students to protest daily in campus and accuse HK polices doing their job.
Encourage students of others country doing it , but not allowed in their own country.
America's idea of "democracy" and "free speech" shown to the whole world.
@verycursedplane. So why not let the students demonstrate against genocide? Go to university for what? To study, make money, but let others be trampled on?
Sorry the students are against the ppl who pay the uni.
@@katong1953 it’s not their university. If the university doesn’t allow then they shouldn’t do it. It’s private property. They should just withdraw then. The university is already getting them a degree by unrolling. It’s not the university’s obligation to allow this rather it’s the other way round. It’s the student’s obligation to adhere to whatever the management says.
Democracy works!
Can Chinese🇨🇳 people protest like this in front of Tiananmen Square?
It’s the Sinophobic bot farm “Lastetc", "lastetc", "verylastetc", "nextlastetc" bot.
@nextlastChang. Another worthless post from the trespassing troll. The Chinese students were allowed to and did demonstrate. So stop lying. But they occupied the place for almost 2 months, and became violent. The best debunking of western propaganda on the subject is by Daniel Dumbrill.
In contrast, (1) the US students were thrown out or arrested within days. (2) Unlike the Chinese students, the US students are peaceful. (3) Unlike the Chinese students, the US students had very narrow, specific demands. (4) China did not foment the US protests.
@nextlastChang. My first post was censored by UT. Freedom of speech my foot
Here's my shortened reply. The Chinese students were allowed to and did demonstrate, until they became violent. So stop lying.
So how does a random university in USA somehow involved in an armed conflict in the other side of the world?
@MattBrain. The US exists for war.
Land of the Free😅😅😅
Land of Free Speech 😅😅😅
If you can't even protest against genocide, you have no free speech.
For Inspiration ONLY. Don't be too serious about it.

University may received funds.. but what if linked to 15RAE|_ weapons maker?

I think that there are better ways ti support Palestine than camping outside in university

Government become zombies when it comes to Israel genocidal actions. What options do they have?
Free the USA oligarchy dictatorship regime 😮
Columbia still havent show evidences of obama studying there as a American 😂
If not happy with University, just change one, and why choose it in the first place?
Yes pls leave USA, NUS is much better!
Easier said than done
NUS, NTU. and SMU shall lead protest in Singapore. We call for the same 3 demands of divestment, transparency, and amnesty. Call for peace now.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
