  • Large parts of Southeast Asia are reeling under the exceptionally hot weather. The conditions have been worsened this year by the El Nino weather phenomenon. Ms Lydia Law, Heat Resilience and Performance Centre co-director at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, tells CNA's Asia Now why the region has been so-called "boiling frogs" for so long.

The Why part is really simple, over-urbanisation, rapidly rising population, deforestation, increasing energy consumption, rising Co2 levels, increase heat production from industries and economies.

Australia is the Driest Continent on Earth (Known more as a continent than Just an island and country). 90% of people live in less than 10% of Australia as Outback is so hot and has unique, wild animals too. Thar Desert of India that's also 1 of the World's Hottest is where 100s of Millions of People have been surviving for 1000s of Years that includes some of India's Richest Royal Families where they had Vernacular Architecture with Natural Cooling and Storage System too (The British Royal Family have married commoners a bit But rarer to find that amongst the Indian Royal Family Members. India had about 575 Kingdoms and 1000s of Chiefdoms in 1947 though like Southeast Asia, this would fluctuate throughout both their histories of Southeast Asia and Indian Subcontinent including India as India as a nation came about in 1947 though the name India as well as the name Bharat, both originated about 1000s of years ago). It's interesting to see that 100s of Millions of People have been surviving for 1000s of Years in Very Hot Thar Desert of India.

We humans have been following the Western Ways of Life for Last 200 Odd Years that includes Skyscrapers, Modern Architecture and Urban Planning Instead of Vernacular and Traditional Architecture where Asians and Africans had including for Storage and Cooling Naturally which Westerners via Original Europeans copied from Asians and Africans (Both sides have pros and cons). These Books written by Western Authors like The Dawn of Everything by D. Graeber and D. Wengro, How the World Made the West by Josephine Quinn, Theft of History by Jack Goody, Stealing from the Saracens: How Islamic Architecture Shaped Europe by Diane Durke and many more that can be found under Amazon or Google show how West took Knowledge from Asia, Africa, South and Central Americas which is how they started doing better within the last 500 years or so. Or did they? Because 1 of the reasons the world is facing global climatic issues is because of following the Western Ways of Life for Skyscrapers that started in Chicago City, Modern Architecture and Urban Planning instead of going for vernacular and traditional architecture with Natural Cooling as well as Storage systems too (natural cooling storage systems which Asia and Africa had that was copied by Europe and European Settlers in Other Western Nations)
