I have a 2000 SR5 4wd, V8 Tundra, Paint did not survive years of Airport parking, some plastics loosing the battle, Power steering reservoir looking for replacement, Just had the Brake master cylinder go bad, Transmission mode select bracket in steering column did fracture at 170K, Rear leaf springs always weak, replaced Shocks w/ Boge units at purchase in 2007/86K. Radiator failed at 173k, just started leaking at upper broad seal. Was apparently from Colorado, now Tx... limited Rust. 4wd is only on RT side w/ open diffs. 2004 on had better Transmission internals. Front Brakes prone to warping, rears squeal on back up...Driver side, exhaust manifold has slight leak after warm shutdown until re warmup... @ 176K now...13mpg.
I have a 2004 sr5 with 130,000 miles and it runs great. I keep it parked in the shed most of the time and drive my Corolla. I got the timing belt changed about 20 thousand miles and 4 years ago. When I need it it cranks right up and just goes. Everytime I think about selling it I watch these videos and remember why I still have it. I have been offered $12 thousand for it but I always say no..lol
@@ocularpressure4558 My differential failed right before hitting 500K. Other than that, no major repairs. Mainly routine maintenance stuff that typically wears out like brakes, suspension components, ujoints. I've had to have the front crank seal replaced, twice. Just about to reach 545k now.
I did the same thing. I sold a very modified 2017 Tundra for what I paid new and paid off debt and bought a 2004 Tundra double cab with cash. The 2004 has better interior quality than the 07, 14, and 17 Tundras I’ve owned.

It was well maintained with a carwash once a week and full detail. Garaged for 15 of the 20 years he owned it. Interior held up great. He bought a newer one and convinced me(a die hard GM fan) to buy a toyota(2019 tacoma). My last 2 GM trucks cost me a lot of money and proved to be money pits. Happy with the tacoma so far! Especially now that ive moved from Idaho to the Oregon coast. A lot more maneuverable for tight spaces over here.

I love my 06 DC V8 (I'm a fellow Oregonian/PNW native myself). Best truck Toyota ever built IMO. It's the perfect cross between the modern Tacomas size and a 1/4 Ton Domestic pickups power and load capacity. Only thing I hate is that there's hardly any suspension options for them. OME (which I run on my other 2 Toyotas and ran on all the Cruisers I ran in Australia) doesn't make leaf's for it and it's got nothing like the support that Tacos get despite being more desirable trucks IMO.

According to the dealer I am due for that but I see the truck very strong for another year.
@@JesusMartinez-bx8dh Yes I heard the timing belt and water pump and pulleys have to re-be replaced every hundred thousand miles it’s an interference engine and if the belt snaps the pistons will hit the valves and destroy the engine also if you have a loose steering column shifter mine just broke and it’s $189 dealer only part it’s aluminum and the block is connected to the shifter it comes out is one piece but if it breaks it will be stuck in whatever position it shifted into it the time so if yours is loose she might want to look into it

My 06 frame ate itself away. Sad because it only had 143k on the engine and transmission. I loved the size of it. Full replacement for the frame and all the other parts affected was just too cost prohibitive. Still not sure what to do with the truck as it sits in a storage lot
my 02 tundra has over 300,000 miles too lol. just got mine, working out some problems with it, but hopefully it'll be an amazing truck! Currently trying to work out the exhaust trying to upgrade it. Needed some hefty repairs, but the engine wasn't one of'em. 😎 It will be hauling our camper, which will be our full time abode, so here's hoping it has a lot of miles left in it. Seems it will!
I have a 2004 limited toyota tundra double cab with 188k miles! I will be doing alot of upgrades pretty soon!
I'VE BEEN WANTING A TUNDRA, BULLETPROOF, BUT MY BUDGET SAID 'USED'. THANKS FOR THIS WONDERFUL REVIEW. IT SOLIDIFIES MY CHOICE OF TOY, BUT I NEED A REVIEW OF THE 2ND GEN TOY OR TWI✌ ✌
I just picked one up for 2000 with 124000 mile from family friends God bless them
With new truck prices skyrocketing I'm gonna hold onto my 05 Taco and 12 GX460 for as long as I can. Theu both still run great!
These trucks are great! I have a 2006 Tundra just like this one and mine has 320k miles on it. I fully expect it to give me 500k or more.
Company called DEEVER make a rear leaf spring setup, for these trucks.
Yeah buddy, nice truck!
Time to update your caption image!
I bought my 04 Tundra new. 2024, 20 years old. 167,000 miles. All of the required maint/services. Even my local Toyota Dealer service Mgr wants to buy it..
My 04 is at 247k and still runs and drives well.
My friends great video, better late than never. I myself have that same truck. Only it's a double cab and a 2wd. I will say I gotcha beat on the miles. Let me say this try 371,000 for the miles. I purchased the truck brand new, back in 2004, great dealership still selling Toyotas today, imagine that. Still drive this truck and would not be hesitant to take me and the family cross country in today! Great job
I was a kid when these were brand new. Tried and true 'Yota trucks! Solid as a rock, even these days! The type that you won't have to worry about beating up and breaking the bank about! That's the way I like it!
Just did it with my 4 runner paid me 2000 less than I paid for it three years ago , got 15000 ready to shop!!!!
Really good video. Like that truck.
There are a couple 5.7 Tundras with over a million miles now. There also 4.7 with million miles.
I have an 03 with 275k miles
Great engine and trans combo. When you change the oil on these stud oil comes out clean. Plus it’s a really smooth engine.
That is a great standing truck! Love to know the suspension specs.
that color is solid never get dirty
Just bought a 2006 Toyota Tundra Darrell Waltrip edition with 250,000 miles for 5K. This thing is sweet!
How many miles on it now
@@ocularpressure4558 258,000 miles. Haven’t driven it much.
Just bought a clean title 1999 3.4L 4x4 extended TRD Tacoma with 134K miles for $8k for my 16 yr old son. He's learning. Plugs, oil, air filter done 1st week. Next the Tundra brake upgrade and a Trans cooler.
You’re so lucky, I’ve been searching for months
Love my 2006 sr5 tundra. 126000 miles. This truck could last me the rest of my life.
Thanks
And considering on and off road use when discussing overall mileage these trucks are amazing
I got one 2006 tundra with 2610000 millas the best. For me.
I have a 95 f150 with 5.0 with 336,100 miles original motor, trans and rear end.
The second gen tundra that I saw that Toyota bought from the owner was a 2007 and it had the 4.7 v8 with a million miles
If you look there’s actually 3 1,000,000 mile Toyota tundra‘s on RUclips now
I hit 300K last night on my ‘08 Sequoia, and hoping for at least another 100K.
Brother, my 2006 Tundra has currently 375000 miles with same engine and transmission and looks like it will make it to the million miles.
How many miles Are on it now? I have a 2006 Toyota tundra on the third owner two of my friends owned it before me and it has 312,000 miles on it I have absolutely no issues with it AC still blows cold and I’m gonna try and get it to that million mile mark I was just wondering how many miles is on your vehicle now? And have you had any serious engine or transmission issues with it?
@@ocularpressure4558 sorry for the late answer but yes my 2006 tundra has 325000 miles. And still the same transmission and engine. I have only done the oil change, struds replacement, starter and tune up. But I believe the previous owner replace once the time belt and water pump. According to the dealer I am due for that but I see the truck very strong for another year.
@@JesusMartinez-bx8dh Yes I heard the timing belt and water pump and pulleys have to re-be replaced every hundred thousand miles it’s an interference engine and if the belt snaps the pistons will hit the valves and destroy the engine also if you have a loose steering column shifter mine just broke and it’s $189 dealer only part it’s aluminum and the block is connected to the shifter it comes out is one piece but if it breaks it will be stuck in whatever position it shifted into it the time so if yours is loose she might want to look into it
@@ocularpressure4558 I see brother, absolutely I will get that taken care of asap. I appreciate the advice. Cars last a long time when you take of them. Specially if I want my truck to make it to the million mile. Stay safe and God bless bro!
My buddies Dad has an 04 I believe, has around 600k on it lol he just changes oil and air filters and drives the piss out of it daily.
Gotta be up there for best truck ever made. Wish I could've gotten one before the used truck market just completely exploded.
I Had a 2001 that went 428,000, would have been more but a permit driver failed to yield, and the wreck totaled the truck. Also, it didn't use any oil I was changing it every 7-10k miles.
My 06 frame ate itself away. Sad because it only had 143k on the engine and transmission. I loved the size of it. Full replacement for the frame and all the other parts affected was just too cost prohibitive. Still not sure what to do with the truck as it sits in a storage lot
Can you tell us about the front end work, left kit and shocks? I gotta do this to my 2002 Tundra, and soon.
I’ve got a 3rd gen 4Runner with the 3.4L v6. Thing is at 317,000 and still kicks. Not a check engine light in sight
For what its worth, the "first" million mile tundra was in an early 2nd gen tundra with a 4.7 motor.
What's the exhaust setup on this? Sounds great with that deep rumble and roar.
I doubt the new twin turbo V6 will last 300K miles!
Hey. I’m driving my brother in law tundra that has 400 thousand miles. Original owner and bought it brand new back in the days.
What year is it? How many miles are on it now and have you had any motor or transmission issues?
@@ocularpressure4558 Year is 2005 and like 410 thousand. Original Engine. V8And still running strong. Only change battery and oil change. 👍
@@user-uq6uy5oe2d so Badass,, nothing today especially Domestic could do that, maybe a Cummins diesel or another tundra lol
Some SC1 spray will do wonders for that plastic trim. What size tires are you running on this truck?
285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks
412,000 on my 2005 tundra, still cruising I wish it was 4x4
I’ve got an 05 with 386k on it and it’s still hanging in there! Going for 500k…
I seen one for sale with 450k
Actually it's 2 different tundras with the 4.7 liter engine that hit 1 million miles
There are a couple 5.7 Tundras with over a million miles now. Look up Blaine Johnsons million mile.
Add back the optional wheel wheel flares for that year and save that great finish
I have a 2003 Tundra SR5 Access Cab 4WD. It has low miles now at 147K. I also live in Oregon, my frame looks almost new.
my 02 tundra has over 300,000 miles too lol. just got mine, working out some problems with it, but hopefully it'll be an amazing truck! Currently trying to work out the exhaust trying to upgrade it. I took my muffler off and it sounds amazing. But.. I feel it's too loud. My biggest thing about exhaust is I want it to sound nice, but not be to loud. If anyone have an suggestions please let me know!
Lol I live in bend and was thinking “hey that looks a lot like here” before you said central Oregon
Awesome 1st gen tundra with a 4.7 liter crate motor not bad truck considering it has a ton of miles on it
I just bought one with 195k. I plan on making it to 500k
Where did you find those headlights? Those are awesome!
Just bought one Today was wondering what size tires and type of rims are on Yours?
He'll probably get anywhere fro 500-700K out of that truck.
600K+ easy! I have a co worker with two T100s; one with 260K+ and the other with 350K+. This one should last !
What size wheels and tires does he have? I like the setup and looking to get something similar.
02 access cab 3.4l manual trans 408,xxx miles and counting. Original block trans and diffs.
up here where I live in Alberta my pop bought my 02 tundra brand new and he lived in Fort mac and then down in Edmonton but stil lworked at syncrude and anyways he got alot of salt on it and those fender flares that he has on that truck helped grow massive rust on the rear fenders so now their very rusty and I can't afford new fenders to chop and weld in new wheel wells now :(
I have a 04 SR5 4.7 sitting at 233K young !!!!
