This is Fred. Another Great Review. Looking forward to the Release. A shame to see Sutliff go across the pond. Can't wait to compare it to the other releases. Keep up the Awesome reviews.
Looking forward to this one. I just within the last year got into pipe smoking thinking back on my grandfather. Live close to McCranies and I believe they use Sutliff for their blends. Fell in love with their Red Stag and the Highland Mixture. Really hope those don't go away.
Brand new pipe smoker here. My grandfather just passed away a couple weeks ago and thought I’d give it a try. I think I’m slowly coming around to it. My tongue has been burning a lot but today I actually started to taste the bobs chocolate flake. Would love any recommendations or tips. LOVE your channel and your enthusiasm. Also love that you and your son are doing this together. Something I VERY VERY VERY much envy.
To stop the tongue bite just slow down and enjoy the smoke time. When I first started pipe smoking in 2007, I had a lot of burnt tongue too until I learned to just take my time and enjoy the flavor. It is not a furnace with a lot of smoke billowing out. Just barely keep it lit and enjoy.
@@PipesTobaccoWhiskey I tried a little bit of everything off the bat. I didn’t just go straight to aromatics. After about week 2-3, I noticed that I could actually taste the tobacco. Not just the burnt tobacco tasted in the beginning. I’m excited to play with pipe shapes and bowl size and such and nail down what works. It’s been a fun journey so far and I love your channel!
Best advice: Keep smoking. You'll learn over time that there isn't a magically formula, but that you have to get a feel for how wet/dry a blend should be, and how you should pack different cuts in different bowl sizes. Go slow when puffing, and don't worry about relights. Relighting your pipe is part of pipe smoking, so don't feel like you are failing if you have to do more than a char light and then a full light.
Thanks for the thoughts. Now you just increased the number of people to compete against trying to buy this blend. 😂 😆. Good hanging with you guys again. Pipe On
I thought last year’s edition was horrible, but I’m gonna give this year’s a try based on your recommendation and the fact that it is straight Red Virginia. Thanks, guys.
I think it is a shame that another great American company has been bought out by foreign company y’all make that Christmas tree sound like it could be eaten with a fork in a knife sounds so good 🎉

Very sorry for your loss. As far as aromatics go, I also like the Mac Bare Vanilla Roll Cake. Great flavors and you can still taste tobacco flavors.

Haven’t tried that one…
Haven’t tried that one…
Welp, based on some other news today, enjoy this blend as I doubt we will see a 2025 iteration :,(
😢
This blend sounds a lot like Savinelli's Juno.
I’ve had a few tins of Juno…not really…This is milder.
