    Nothing wrong with a 300tdi.

      Prefer the 200 myself.

      correct, just a much more complex than the 200tdi, too much EGR and electronics for my taste

    • @gshort4707
      @gshort4707 2 года назад

      @@churchhouseclassics no electronics on the manual 300tdi. The injector pump on the autos is more complicated so might be electronics involved there, I'm not sure. The EGR is simple enough to blank off.

    Did you buy the crossmember already made or did you make it?

    • @churchhouseclassics

      bought it, two styles are available, one is widely available which is what I used here the other follows the original design and is sold by ABE www.ebay.co.uk/str/atkinsondiagnostics

    Am going to be replacing mine soon, just worried as mine is a petrol and welding close to it, do you think tank out or will it be ok

    • @churchhouseclassics
      @churchhouseclassics  5 месяцев назад

      Safety says tank out, you need to be sensible, can you smell fuel near the tank? If so fix that and while the tank is out you can weld in the new cross member. In reality where you are welding is some distance from the sealed fuel tank. I do some safety checks and then if satisfied will weld with fuel tank in place.

    Hi ,love what your doing would send beer moneys, but don't use PayPal...beers on me if you ever visit ibiza.
    Got myself a 93 4 Doors 200tdi,who needs sills etc, your videos are very helpful, wanting to take the rear wings off, but nobody,nor you mention that they are spot welded on the rear door gap....is it unique to mine?
    Why would they do that!? The rivets on my 89 2 Doors are doing the trick perfectly...
    Thanks for the great job anyway.

      There should be a return edge on the rear wing, then a steel strip with two bolts welded onto it fits into the return edge and when pushed through the two holes at the top of the outer wheel arch section can be bolted up.
      Aluminium and bare steel rarely still exist because of the corrosion so I make up an L section and pop rivet it to the rear wing.

    Just Love to see GALVANISED PROPER EQUIPMENT as opposed to the shit factory product

      I refer you to my previous answer about cost accountants approving something that might only become effective after 10 years (some way beyond the average life of a vehicle during this period). Very few manufacturers considered rust prevention like Porsche and VW during this era

    When aftermarket exhausts are fitted with the Tail Pipe Directly straight out the rear !- looks ALL WRONG and TERRIBLY COMMON !!!!!!!. The Original position of the tail pipe angled off to the nearside looked SO CLASSY ! Especially with the tail pipe end/s cut off at 45- 50 degrees

      In your most humble opinion I guess?!?
      I think also that by the time the EFI 3.9 came out in 1989 the exhaust came out more like this item

    Why the HELL DONT LAND ROVER Blow a couple o gallon of wax oil in the inner wings whilst in build FFS !!!!!!!

      When you think that the average life of a car is less than 10 years, the cost accountants at the factory wouldn't authorise a cost for something that might help 20 years down the line. Margins are tight enough already on new cars without adding in that level of detail.
      Both you and I would argue against that but then I am living a comfortable life from making these beautiful cars good again
