I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and RUclipsr who's been to 55 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017. So far, my trips have taken me to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This trip marked the start of my efforts to make a RUclips full-time job.
After that European trip I went heavily into exploring Asia, visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan (seeing me cover a lot of Far East and Southeast Asia in particular).
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
To date, I have not yet been to Australasia or South America. Though I am hoping to visit the latter sometime in 2022, along with a first stop in the Caribbean.
I've travelled to North America just once as a RUclipsr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
So far in 2022 I've taken my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting both Kenya and Tanzania, before making my way to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, starting with Cyprus, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of the divided island.

Have always enjoyed your vids and especially this one. I first traveled to Palermo in 1985 in the midst of the Mafia wars...it still looked like a city emerging from WW2. The port area around La Cala was still surrounded by the rubble from the Allied's bombing. There was no nightlife, the main streets that are now pedestrianized were choked with traffic during the day and empty at night. La Vucciria was the main outdoor market (unlike now its Ballaro and Capo). There seemed to be police on every corner, especially around gov. buildings. I dont think I saw more than 10 tourists the 4 days I spent in Palermo. In the Palatine Chapel, I was the only visitor....and like you I had no idea what to expect when I walked i in and was blown away. Despite all that it was, along with Napoli, one of my two favorite cities in Italy during my post university backpacking days. I returned for 2 weeks for Christmas 2019/New Years, just before the pandemic with my extended family...including my father (like you). The city sparkled, I fell in love with Palermo again and my family were enchanted. I returned again in Spring 2022 for a week and then walked one of the cammini that start in Palermo and end in Agrigento (I highly recommend for those who want to visit the relatively unvisited beautiful towns south of Palermo....recommend Spring or Fall). Visit Palermo now before it becomes overrun with tourists.
Hi. I visited Palermo for the first and only time in October 2022. I didn't expect a city so full of joy and life. Like you said, the pedestrian zone in the city center/Vucciria is now a major nightlife (and day ) attraction. It's basically a 24/7 hangout spot.
The people, the weather, art, buildings, food, everything it's magical in this city.
One question though: how would you compare the people now with the people then? Were they already so friendly and outgoing, or there was more tension in those days?

You have made a perfect summary of 40 years of history.
You seem to know my city better than many of my fellow citizens.
congratulations and thank you for your beautiful and sincere words.
Happy to have you back here whenever you like.
❤🙏
Planning to visit Palermo very soon, I heard many good things about it. I am from the very North of Italy and never had a chance to visit Sicily... Can't wait to go! Great video! 😍
What a beautiful place !! 😍
British people be like " P' L' MOW "
Wonderful video. Palermo is beautiful!
It’s atmospheric and edgy but also beautiful at the same time.
Can any graffiti taggers out there explain what drives you to disrespect other people's property and the public in general, and scribble your nonsensical garbage on surfaces throughout an otherwise beautiful city? Raised by dogs?
Palermo, capital from 1130 to 1816, always the capital of Sicily, Palermo, a colorful metropolis, art of sea food sun
Looks like the best city in Europe to me. Maybe only Lisbon and Istanbul compare
My fathers family is from Palermo, Sicily. I hope one day to make it there.
Sicily has the most amazing history
Agreed
I love Palermo
Me too, it’s now one of my favourite places in Italy.
I'm traveling to Palermo in two weeks, and this video is so helpful!
Good to know!
I like that your vlogs are always very educative! I'm taking notes 😁
Happy to hear that
Woooow that’s so beautiful, and I love to visit locals foods market wherever I visited the countries . Hopefully I can visit Palermo soon
Thanks for the video Jason, definitely will put this city as a must visit in Italy, the produce in the market looks amazing. Definitely can see the influence of the geographical location on the city.
You really should - a different vibe to the rest of Italy.
Sicilia is absolutely magical ✨I really appreciated how you captured the grit, vibrancy, and mystery of Palermo and Cefalù.
Città invivibile
Dirty filthy island
Sicily is wonderfull
Bravo, Jason!! I have never been to Sicily/Palermo but wanted to get a feel of what it would be like to walk around the city. Your video captured beautifully what it would be like to walk the streets, see the everyday sights including the markets, the buildings, people, etc. It was exactly what I was looking for when I searched RUclips for a video on Palermo. Thank you!
Jason, if you are in Palermo you have to call them ArancinA , no arancini! 🥰🤌🏽🤌🏽
So many cringe pronunciations, he needs to do his homework before making a video about "Paluurmo" lol
Happy 70th Birthday to your father , Jason. As usual, great video. Palermo looks beautiful! :)
Thank you!
ARANCINA o ARANCINE IN PALERMO
NO ARANCINI PLEASE😠 THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR PALERMO
Great tour all of our favorites in Palermo! So much more to see in Sicily!
Sicily Number 1.....Bravo
Jason the arancino doesn't sometimes have rice but ALWAYS has rice 😅
Palermo and Agrigento are top
Beautiful Sicilia which is Bella Sicilia most common word you hear in Italy. Visit also Catania, Agregento and Messina ❤️
thanks Jason. In palermo you will always be welcome
Hi Jason lovely city was in Sicily earlier part of the year, but my spent my few days in (Taormina) Such a beautiful place as well as been historical, if you get a chance to visit, you wont be disappointed, but great video thank you.
Nice, glad you enjoyed it. Like I said I would’ve loved to have visited Taormina, hopefully next time.
Where are the hot men in Palermo?

This place is awesome :D
I think I saw you and your family sitting in front of the restaurant "Atipico", near the Politeama. I was wearing a yellow dress and your mother glanced at me, probably because She found It a Little "weird" :) I Just glanced at all of you and thought such an happy family you were, discovering new tastes, a new city, new emotions. To me, as a local, everything Is well known, but still I manage to be a tourist in my own city. Enjoy your time here in Palermo
Very beautiful Sicily . I was there last 2006.
This is a hello from Taiwan again.
Wish you enjoy your trip to your country.
May I know which agents you use often to book your flight around the world?
For flights I use Skyscanner - I don’t book air travel through agents. Cut out the middle man and usually you’ll save money.
@@JasonBillamTravel Thank you for your response.
I use skyscaner also.
Then I only dare to choose the agent I booked ticket before.

Don't forget the Greek/Byzantine influences!
As always, absolutely gorgeous video man! Thanx for sharing!
The church was ab fab. This video makes me want to visit Sicily! Looking forward to your next.
Happy to hear that. Sicily is a gem!
it is a strange coincidence, both England and Sicily, both Islands and both were ruled by Norman kings in the same time period. In England, the Norman dynasty was established by William the Conqueror, who became king of England after defeating Harold Godwinson at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. William was succeeded by his sons, William II and Henry I, and later by his grandsons, Stephen and Henry II. In Sicily, the Norman dynasty was established by Roger II, who became the first king of Sicily in 1130. He was succeeded by his son, William I, and later by his grandsons, William II and Tancred
amazing!
Finally 🤩 been waiting for this all week
God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, & murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today & please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus & stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
Hey Jason great video but if you stop stucking your face to every frame and let us enjoy the scene without you in it, then it would be even better
Hi, nice walk, thank you! Could you tell me please, 13.39 what the mountain I see?
So much graffiti. Disappointing that they don't care about their surroundings.
You can hear Bachata at 5:08.
He would coincidentally upload his first D.R blogs in the video right after this one.
Hi Jason, I hope you exploring Palermo, Sicily!
I was there when you made those footages at the market! 😁 And I also recorded that moment you vlogging! 😆
And by chance I just found your video on my youtube timeline OMG 😱it's carzy isn't it? 😆😆😆 nope it's not!
Good job! 👌
By the way vucciria translates to confusion, because of the confusion the people were doing when buy and selling things around, is not connect to any butcheries or mafia names.
Just arrived from Palermo today.. 😊😊😊.. hope to get around tomorrow
thank you for sharing your video
How beautiful Palermo, thank you 🙏
That’s a rice ball my guy! Sicilia!!!! ✊✊✊ 🇮🇹
When you'll go back north I'll be waiting for you in Turin! :D
Still haven’t been there yet. Need to catch a Juventus game while I’m there too!
Would recommend a visit to Villa Malfitano for anyone who has the time while there
Thank you for your insight. Super helpful 👌🏽
In Palermo we say arancinA/E
Lived there. Most definitely not Italy's most exciting city. Not by a long shot.
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Back to Basics.. I loved your Venice series during covid. These are great series
Happy to hear that. I’m really fond of that post lockdown Italy trip I did in 2020. Managed to see most of the major cities in an empty state. Quite a time to be travelling!
Great video of Palermo Jason....loved the Marlon Brando graffiti
Me too, one of my favourite films, with arguably the best acting performance of all time!
SI chiamano "Arancineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" 😄😄
seems half Italian half Arab, interesting place
You miss to visit Teatro Massimo 😊
Thank you for sharing these beautiful videos of Palermo 😍
omg seeing this did not appeal to me.Was thinking of holiday to Palermo seems like 3rd world shanty town. Will stick with rest of italy ,like Sardinia.
Stay where you are, my friend.
We will survive without you,
even in a “3rd world shanty town”.

Buddy, are you coming to Napoli?
Always great content Jason.
Hi Jason, I absolutely love traveling along with you with your videos. I enjoy how you explain a lot of history and show a lot of sites and educate us with your experiences. You do a fantastic job with the background music and narrating throughout. I also appreciate the clear pace that you speak and walk in your videos. Occasionally, some of your panning around scenic places is a little fast and dizzying so I like it when you go a little slower and we can take in the view much better. ❤
beautiful city in italy
5:32 Arancina 😉 Better not to say “arancino” while in Palermo.
So beautiful ❤️ and yeah at many points I felt it's Tunisia
I mean sicily is in spitting distance of Tunisia and was conquered by the tunisian for like 2 centuries, so it's accurate
@Starshine Jinzan have you....ever seeing southern spain?
As a Sicilian who lives in Italy this is an amazing video for those who don't know much or anything about Sicily. the facts were correct but the mafia also came up from north Italy and moved to America aka New York many years ago too. (there are still existing there) and Sicily don't really have mafia anymore especially these days
Hi babe
Thanks for the info!
@Starshine Jinzan tbh it is, like everyone thinks sicily is about mafia when yes it may have originated there, but it spread all over Italy and a lot of the older ones moved to America and spread it all there….
@Starshine Jinzan silly? Are you serious?
This brings back so many memories...what a beautiful city
Quattro canti means four songs.
ciao🌴 la Sicilia è bellissima🐬🦋🌵🍋
Is it true that Sicily, Italy offer money for local people or foreigner to relocate or live there? Please do not forget to ask the sicily authority for this. If it is. Please update us with the detail. Thanks
Non è vero ma sarebbe bello...
si dice arancina 😋
Fantastic video thanks mate.
W O N D E R F U L !
Looks like the cathedrals have lot of Moorish architecture.
Love your videos! I really liked also your videos on Naples. It seems like such an undiscovered or underappreciated treasure. I’m curious how you would compare Naples to Palermo? I’ve been to the East Coast of Sicily , I especially loved Siracusa. I love the Sicilian culture. But I’ve never been to Naples, and I’ve always wanted to explore the bustling and slightly chaotic streets.
Very similar places on so many levels just different accents.
No.....Non regge proprio il confronto !
I would absolutely love to explore that market for a full day. Great video.
Really exciting and vibrant part of the city. Thanks!
Money hiest Palermo
London, England is your hometown!
I hope you enjoy Sicilly......so you are originally Sicilian I hope your family did not belong to the Sicilian mafia?
Che qualunquismo becero
What an idiot comment!
Beautiful Sicilia which is Bella Sicilia most common word you hear in Italy. Visit also Catania, Agregento and Messina ❤️

Is it safe to travel their alone ?
Love your vids Jason, being Sicilian myself it makes me happy your enjoying our culture 😄keep up the great work👊🏽🔥

Happy Birthday 🎂 to your dad’s 70th birthday. I hope if I get to 70 my daughter will celebrate my birthday abroad somewhere. Even though I don’t know your dad, your dad had you at the age of when I had my daughter, so I feel some connection, as we’re both fathers who have had a child in our 40s.
