Oh yes, the element of base-building in RTS games. I always played RTS games with my own, perhaps unorthodox, style. I never cared about meta or pro gameplay, I just used those games as sandbox or blank canvas. Whether it was in Warcraft, AoE, AoM, DoW or any other game, I deeply enjoyed base building - making your own corner of safety and comfort in untamed wilderness. Yeah, my gameplay resulted in being able to play only against easier AI, but I don't care. This was the way I enjoyed the game, and that's what matters. And now, you show me another new level with this diorama. Great work!
Oh hell yeah! I'm on the same side and can relate very much, love the visual aesthetic of my bases, even if it's not optimal for multiplayer. I even liked the simple base building in battle for middle earth and can't understand when a game gets rid of this element, like DoWII.

Agreed, when DoWII was released and there was no base-building (asside from bare bones such as turrets and generators), I felt that this game lacked something essential, almost like being gutted. I play it occasionally, but I much rather return to games that have proper base-building to indulge in my favourite part of RTS games.

As much as I want to see tree people, honestly this can either go in one of two directions...Either we follow the Campaign and you do Undead next, or you embrace that it has always been Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and venture into Horde Territory next.

I fricking love it! Warcraft 3 and wow have inspired me to pursue software engineering as young adult, i would build my pc work table all around leaving just the space for monitor and mouse/keyboard , an epic reminder or my childhood! I just don't have 3d printer...

Found you from the warcraft 3 sub Reddit ( you just made an invasion of kalimdor post) and I don't know what to say ... I haven't felt euphoria like this looking at anything in such a long time !! Warcraft 3 is one of my favourite games of all time and i was heartbroken at how reforged ruined everything too :( you have touched my soul and brought me back to how 7 year old me felt playing warcraft 3 .. this is absolute perfection , i am in awe of your skills and dedication, this to my eyes is absolute perfection...you have inspired me and gotten me excited to print my own minis and start painting/ making dioramas !

This is nice. I've been trying to find anything on creating World of Warcraft dioramas for battlegrounds. this is the closest thing I've found to help me. I want to recreate the AV battleground. I might start with the arathi basin first... cuz it's easier.

Wow! I'm soo glad I came across your video. I am literally in the planning stages for doing the exact same thing- except for WarCraft II. As a kid I was introduced to warcraft ii and I have fond memories of it. I had the inspiration to make a warcraft ii diorama simply out of my experience with 3D printing, tabletop miniatures, and that I was able to print out models from another classic game I enjoyed, Escape Velocity (1990s pc game) for use with tabletop game Billion Suns. The only issue I have is like you I cannot figure out blender. I typically use tinkercad for designing but it has massive limitations. I will take a crack at the software you're using.
Hey Phill! Your project sounds fascinating! Mind sharing more pieces of information about it? What Scenery/faction are you going to build?
I grew up with WC3, Warcraft 2 was before my time, so I still need to play it :D
As for software, I still think there is absolutely no way around blender, because of my profession I'm very familiar with CAD software like Catia, SolidWorks etc. so trying out Fusion wasn't something strange and felt very familiar. I have to say though, sculpting models with CAD is probably way harder than it would be with blender :D
@@MiniQuest64 oof! Ok i might have to just deal with learning blender- i’m sure I just need to dedicate some time it just seems overwhelming. I plan on building something similar to what you have. WC2 trees are all the same so i’ll need to print those for sure. Maybe an ork assault on a human base, during the early start of a game session

Awesome work! Just one suggestion for maybe your next WC3 diorama, put all the buildings facing the same way as in the game so it is even closer to that in-game view :D

I spend a year and a half to make videos with no prior experience at all.
Every time I did something video game related, it performed poorly, though.
Even my last two videos (Kirby, Donkey Kong) where I finally came to an editing style I really liked, didn't do well at all. Made me feel so miserable, questioning myself and my decision to even try to make RUclips content.
This warcraft diorama was something like a last chance, a final try to make a video about something I really love at the best quality I could possibly do. And I was ready to see it fail.
And now this, so many comments, video setting records on my channel and I can't wait to finish the next one.

Bro! Amazing work right there! I still can't get over the fact that Blizzard straight up removed all access to the original version of the game in favor of Reforged. Rockstar did the exact same thing with the GTA trilogy. EA did not - however - with Mass Effect - where you can play both the original and remastered edition. Same thing with HALO. Rant over! Don't let the originals die! They also miss out on a shitload of money - as people cannot legally buy these games - they turn to key-sellers or physical copies. When Rockstar pulled their stunt - the price for a single GTA: San Andreas key skyrocketed to 50-70USD - which remains the price as of me writing this comment.
Just seeing the big box at the beginning brought back memories. Am I remembering right that there was a "chest" of some kind way back approx. 20 years ago that had the original game + the expansion? Regardless. The end result is gorgeous to look at - and has that cartoony feel and vibrant colors I remember. Man - the memories are pouring in now. Tower Defense maps - and my personal favorite: Battleships.

Hey Nate, thank you so much for having a watch! Just the preparation of this video took a long time, compared to that, the building and painting happened really quick :D But my last video was late december...soooo, im happy to just release something :D
OMG this has to be the most amazing dio build I've come across on youtube! You built my all time favorite game and at a Diorama level!!! What are the chances we can get all 4 races buildings? Making an epic piece of all 4 races fighting each other would be amazeballs! Also love how you kept it to the classic graphics!!! You just got yourself a new patreon supporter!

I remembered when I was a child one day I went to a computer shop while I was there I saw someone playing this game and I was interested then an idea came to my mind that I want to draw one of the scenes from that game so I started watching the game and copy everything that I could recalled and drew it on a pieces paper until eventually I finished it by copy paste.but unfortunately i lost it when i was 10
OH man I can relate so much! I did the same with seeing Warhammer Space Marines! Went home and build some with Lego because I couldn't afford those.
