    Good video, I will say though it would be good to add what kind of soil you can use that will be safe, if you aren't doing a bioactive setup that is. Not sure what type of soils will be beneficial to the plant but won't negatively affect the animals if ingested.
    Also, maybe a video idea would be preparing plants to go into your geckos enclosure? the bio dude has a video on this I think but I don’t know if many people know about that guy (i didn't till I got a message from you saying it)

      Ecofriend 137 thing is I’ve talked about substrate in many videos so I don’t want to like repeat myself and annoy people ☺️ I have a step by step where I talk about each layer of a bio active tank so that should help 😊 and usually in my builds I show myself prepping the plants 😊

    I'm having such a hard time deciding between a leo and a crestie. I've done research for both and I'm perfectly capable of caring for either one. I only have 3 pets at the moment so I'd have time for a leo which from my research are a bit trickier to care for. They're both so cute and I don't want to own both at this point and time. It's so hard to decide 😂

    I know this is late but for the nerve plants and the outbreak, I am sure it is because of the humidity. I had one and kept watering it constantly and had an outbreak, the one I have now I don't water that much and it is doing just fine. So it is most likely the humidity and watering the tank often

      I would get some heat packs like the ones from UniHeat just in case the power goes out. If you don't already, try breeding their feeders (not sure what kind of gecko you have) so that you won't have to go to the store to buy more. Extra food for crested geckos since I think it keeps for a while. She does have a video on what to do in emergency situations when you have reptiles so perhaps look for that video. Hi Leopard Gecko, This video is very informative and I appreciated it. I was wondering, are plants from a local store rather than a reptile store safe? Do you have any opinion on philodendrons for crested geckos? It sounds like they are poisonous if ingested, and some places say that's not a problem for cresties because they don't eat the plants, while others say it is a problem because they might lick water off the plant or eat an isopod that has eaten some of the plant. Do you have any experience with this variety at all?

    I have a QUESTION unrelated to what this video is talking bout but for example if you have a tank for a leo gecko and it’s in a room that does not get a lot of sun light so Can you use 2 lights (one is red and another is just an bright light made for reptiles)but should I turn off the bright one and only leave the red light? So that way my gecko can know the daylight cycle?

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 4 года назад

      Red lights aren’t good for any reptile. There shouldn’t be any lights on at night. During the day you can use LED or linear UVB (if you use UVB use supplements without d3).

      If you put a whole and in then just take the soil off all the roots then soak it in some water and it should be ok to put in

    I just got a leopard gecko and Petco gave me a bunch off live crickets and said to put them all in the tank with the gecko? Doesnt sound right also carpet or sand for floor I have both if I need different I will get I'm using carpet rn because my gecko is only about 3 weeks old

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 4 года назад

      For future reference please don’t buy animals from petco. They’re a bad company to support. Definitely don’t put all the crickets in the gecko enclosure. Crickets left in the enclosure for too long will bite the gecko. They should be kept in a separate container, with a few fed to the gecko daily (less often as they get older). Don’t use carpet or sand. Quarantine any new reptile on paper towel for the first six weeks to monitor their health. Other good solids include textured tile or non-adhesive shelf liner. It’s best to offer digging enrichment over six months with reptisoil, organic top soil, or a bioactive substrate.

    • @ornithowlogist

      they aren’t terribly toxic, typically cresties won’t gnaw on their plants. yes, pothos are moderately toxic, but if it’s infested in small quantities it shouldn’t be a problem

      The bare minimum for an adult is a 20 gallon long (30x12x12 in inches), and bigger is ideal.

    SOMEONE PLS HELP my leopard gecko hasn't eaten anything except his shed since late November early December. he has no interest in food no matter what I do or try to give him. he still poos after he eats his shed and his activity levels are normal, he just refuses to eat. I can see that he's lost quite a bit of weight over the winter and I'm very worried for him. what can I do besides go to the vet (I'd have to try to find an exotics vet near me but I live in a small town)
    could I make a slurry and try to get it in his mouth (not shoving it down his throat)?
