Thanks for the review, I think I'll stick with nightcap 😃
I then to agree. These are not made for Astro photography. But considering they are “pro camera apps” I really expected better results.
Always with iPhones getting the better stuff while us Android users have to cry
I am from Russia 🇷🇺 I don’t speak very well, thank you
Gave up on this after 6+ minutes of "intro" --- prefer videos that get to the point
Thanks for the great video, Shayne! I know I must have watched this some time ago, but I don't think I ever downloaded ProCam. Not sure why. I was wondering why you didn't use Bulb mode in Slow Shutter with ProCam so you could have a longer exposure. As I said, I'm going to give it a try myself and maybe I'll answer my own question. Thanks!
Results?
This channel is only for legends......
Thanks for the “stupid question” challenge Shayne ... on the iPhone 12 Pro / Max: what is the difference between using “Live Photo” for long exposure, and using the “Night Mode” for long exposure? I suppose the “Live Photo” use for long exposure would work for the day where the “Night Mode” long exposure cannot be used during the day. But what about at night time? Can you use either or then, or maybe both, or maybe both at the same time? 🤔 hmmmmm
Not stupid at all mate. Live Photos are 1.5-3 seconds only. Night mode are up to 30 seconds.
Thanks 🙏🏻
silent E Hhalide so saying it is Halide,e as in silver haide
How can I get RAW images from these apps?
Hi Shane, I am wondering if you can take photo of moon (not the one you did with double exposure on snapseed 😂). I am thinking of full moon as a background and a building (say lighthouse) as the foreground.
It’s something I’m researching atm. It’s impossible to get good shots of the moon without an external lens. Stay tuned though, I’m sure I’ll find the right one!
Shayne Mostyn - Mobile Photography thanks Shane. I look forward to it
Very good and really useful video -- thanks. BTW, I love the way different countries pronounce things, like "Hall - leed - a" there, where we pronounce it in 2 syllables like "hale - lide" here. Very cool.
Thanks mate! I wasn’t really sure how to pronounce it. I have heard it both ways. Sometimes I hear myself talking when I’m editing the videos and think... wow, so Aussie 🤣🤣
Stay warm!! Have a good week
Cheers mate
PS I finally got a shot on the native camera app that I fence has good if not better than NightCap. I know you love camera but I’ve never seen them the same success. I normally take five or six photos to get one okay one night can I get an okay one every time. But this time I’ve got a really nice shot.👍🏼👍🏼
From a scientist perspective it’s phonetically Hail Eyed (in the Aussie tongue!). The term halide applies to a group of elements on the periodic table of elements (generally chlorine, bromine, fluorine and iodine). I believe that halide salts are photo sensitive, thus the association with photographic film and plate coatings. Thank you for such a practical, informative guide :-)
Thanks mate I appreciate your time explaining that 👍👍
I can nt open halide on android whyy
So how do Daleks go up and down stairs . Sorry . great app was thinking of pro cam 8 👌😎
They use wheelchair access points. ;)
Hey I did not see a slow shutter in procam
How DO Daleks get up stairs??
Wheelchair access ramps. ;)
So what program is batter for astrophotogrofy????
the original camera app from Apple... LOL. All of the third-party app can even close to do what the native camera app does.
I have iPhone 11 Pro but can’t get a 30 sec exposure in the native app?
Are you using a tripod mate?
I had ether phone resting on something, maybe need to try when properly dark
Hello Shayne, I have an iPhone 12 Pro and the max time limit in night mode is 10 Seconds 🙁 Wondering how come 11 Pro has got 30 Seconds
This is a tripod issue mate. Once the phone is perfectly still on a tripod, it will allow 30 seconds.
@@ShayneMostyn even on iPhone 12 Pro? Can't wait to check that out. Anyway thank you so much for such a prompt response. Have a great day!
@@NauticalMate yes including that one mate 😉
@@ShayneMostyn Holyyyyy mother of Godddd.. it's 4 am here in India, I literally got out of my bed and took out my tripod and tried it. 29 freakinggg seconds. Unbelievable!!! Had no idea about this!!!! My wife is like are you freaking nutssss. Thank you so much. I'm so glad I landed up on your videos while browsing through my insomniac RUclips screen time. SUBSCRIBED 👆🏻
Also, as I'm a sailor, can't wait to head back to sea and try this in wide open ocean where I witness beautiful astronomy every single night. Thanks Mr. Shayne!
Hello, thanks alot for your video, I just wonder what Iphone did you use for this video?
11pro. Thanks for watching
I guess the 1s is a limit of the iPhone then... ;)
Great video though...
It is with these apps, but not with Night Mode in the camera
@@ShayneMostyn why the stock camera app can archive longer exposure time than other apps
Great video! It's pronounced 'hay' - 'lied' based on the silver halide used in film emulsion ;)
You have just made my day, I never actually put that together! Thanks mate.
@@ShayneMostyn No problem!
