Our people here in South Africa fail to confront the true enemy. The ones keeping us poor with the systems they put in place after apartheid(new form of apartheid) those in control of the economy. We need to deal with real issues.

My take on this "gentrification" storm in a teacup is that its really just the latest SA Twitter/TikTok trending complaint from primarily middle-class kids/students down in Cape Town who are upset that their digital nomad age-mates from the West are invading their spaces and living fabulously on the cheap because of the exchange rate. The complaints arent coming from the poor or working class amongst SA society.

  • @molefemokhine9557

Haven't seen that comment about AA gentrifying JHB or SA but I have seen a comment from a sister complaining about digital nomads from the west, mostly them folks who push prices and general living conditions, especially in Cape Town because of their dollars, pounds and euros so much so that the locals, with their weak Rand, are being strangled and are finding it hard to afford. She made a "simile" with Bali btw
Another important point she was making was about the said nomads, overstaying their visas and wind up staying illegally here in SA, now that's something that must be brought to the fore and heavily criticised.
But as for folks like yourselves, who come here legally, with good intentions and contribute positively to our country, there's no squabble with you all.
    Peace.

Great to see y brother & my sister in this video. Be rest assured that majority of South AFRICANS love & accept African Americans moving into SA and buying homes in whatever place they choose to buy from. SA is still a very young & delicate country which is still trying to find its way. There are some people even some of them outsiders who are jealous of African American coming in their great numbers in SA. African Americans raised us & nurtured us During apartheid as we looked to them as source of inspiration during those hard days. Apartheid government isolated black South Africans from the rest of the continent of africa & exposed us to the West especially USA. African Americans made a great name about themselves during Apartheid times of hardships. We regarded Your freedom fighters as our own. SO MY BROTHER DON’T BE MOVED BY THE SOCIAL MEDIA GIMMICKS CS & LIES. African Americans are special to us & are welcome in our country to live anywhere they choose without fear. Some of our African brothers & sister fromm the continent envy South Africa with some of them being jealous of SA and actually destroying this country’s infrastructure & young children with drugs, prostitution, sale of expired fake foods etc. we would rather have our African American brothers buying these houses than other races that have been & still flocking into this country in greater numbers. Property increases/decreases etc depend on economic supply & demand phenomenon which is ongoing & happening around the world all the times. It’s very unfortunate & very sad that others are accusing African Americans regarding inflation & property prices increase. African Americans have their legal right to move into this country, live here, buy homes etc, enjoy SA as theirs just like all of us. South Africa is a constitutionally democracy which upholds the rule of law & nobody has a right to interfere with anyone living in this country. SO,PLEASE MY BROTHER ENJOY SA & PURCHASE WHATEVER YOU LIKE, THIS I YOUR HOME. WE ARE ONE & THE SAME PEOPLE & WE BELONG TOGETHER UNITED AS AFRICAN AFRICANS & SOUTH AFRICANS INDEFINITELY.

    11:29 definitely Satan our brother!!
If you were in Cape Town, they might be a slight reason to be concerned, but the Gauteng real estate scene is too vast to be affected by a relatively few people compared to the local GP population.
Apart from that, we can complain about them folks who have all 30something European countries and Asia and South America to choose from and still feel comfortable but choose to come here, but you guys only have one Africa and we are glad you chose South Africa.
Ignore the negative Nellies from “next door” trying to turn you against us.

I disputed this term "Gentrification" in the Diaspora News Channel. The truth is all the influx of foreigners of any color in a country that is cheap to live in for the locals increases not just property prices but food, entertainment and restaurant prices in upmarket and touristy areas. This is not just African American specific but anyone who comes with a stronger currency can live a much higher standard of living than an they were able to in their own country while South Africans who are at the same level as their African American counterparts can afford. However i do understand Economics. The world is a village and our oyster, we are all allowed to live where we want, can afford and can live well...

Hey fam. Great to see you as always. It's always a live with you guys, laughter and all.
On the gentrification issue: people use the wrong word to describe the wrong thing. Tourism doesn't gentrify a place, it comes in place that is tourist friendly - that is, an attractive place. The forex that comes with tourism works to uplift the lives of the locals as they get jobs and the economy grows to be better than it was. This is a positive thing to the locals.
It is when one has education and understands economics when they welcome visitors with forex coz they understand how the economy and the locals benefit. Without, tourism, there is no forex and without forex, there is no economic growth beyond local exchange.
Gentrification can only happen with time when the middle class has grown to afford the standard of living and this wouldn't be gentrification, it would just be economic growth. So, gentrification is just not the word for this kind of thing.

Greetings and salutations Mr El Malik...my brother, my brother, my brother you took the bait, hook line and sinker. It's quite ironic that in the beginning of your video, you saw and experienced it yourself with the old man. As beautiful, warm, kind and as welcoming as the majority of South Africans are because of a life philosophy called ubuntu, it's important to know that whether you're African American, Jamaican, Congolese, Angolan or Columbian, South Africa is no different than any other country in the world. South Africa has its fair share of haters that are bitter, miserable, ignorant, misguided and jealous, commonly known as buckets in a crab. South Africa is going through tough and uncertain economic times and as you know, crabs are the first to turn on each in difficult and strenuous times. My point being, we are all children of the light, wether thats Jah, God or Allah or whatever name best suits you best, try and stay in the light. You and your wife are blessed, you live in a country that's blessed surrounded by people that are blessed...do NOT let 1/2 negative or questionable comments drag you down and make you loose focus on living your best life in SA. South Africans are on a mission to build South Africa and we appreciate and welcome people from all races, backgrounds and ethnicities who genuinely and sincerely want to create and build a beautiful, fruitful and peaceful life for all South Africans and those who live in it. Again, i will repeat...do not drink the cool aid and take the bait. Stay positive, humble and keep those hilarious jokes coming and keep doing what you're doing like you're doing it for TV!...I mean RUclips.
Heita -da my ma se kind!

I hope you're doing well! I sent you an email on March 4th, 2024, regarding an urgent matter and I understand you're a busy person, along with your wife Adrianne. However, I would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to check it out when you get a chance. I'm running out of time and your assistance could really make a significant difference. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Thank you

Why would you be so mad over a comment like that coming from one person or a few people?
Wherever you go including the US you will find negetivity, the question is whether you allow it to drive you mad or not. If you allow it to divide you it will. if you allow it to stop you, it will.

Comparing how you live and what you have to anyone is always a slippery slope to accepting any type of lie well dressed or otherwise

I liked that analogy at the end, about "Truth" taking a swim and leaving his clothes outside, only for "Lie" to steal them.
South africans are very friendly people and we welcome and embrace a lot of our brothers from different countries, just a few that will spread negative sentiments about our brothers and sisters coming to settle in our country.

Mr Asad I would like to know, which one of my fellow South Africans my made you wanna defend black Americans like this in South Africa. Did someone accuse you of something? If that is so, that is crazy, its a few stupid people, it's nothing to worry about Mr Asad, you don't have to talk like this, black Americans are welcome here.
