    An EXCELLENT CONVERSATION from beginning to end!!!….

  • @freelowper7
    @freelowper7 2 дня назад

    Appreciate the conversation. After listening to the conversation, one thing is very clear - our community doesn't understand the nuances of politics America. In order to implement policy, you first have to win. Meaning your policy must align with ~40K people spread across 9 swing states. Once you win, a president can only sign legislation into law once it has been approved by both chambers of congress. These days you can't even get Congress to agree on raising the debt ceiling. Even then, the Supreme court can strike said policy down on constitutional grounds. A president can set an agenda but has little control over the outcome. Everyone is playing this game of asking "what's Kamala's policies? what will she do about inflation?" Anyone who knows anything about how policy works in this country will tell you all the stuff anyone says on the campaign trial means diddly squat. You declare and change your positions as needed to win. And most people will be shocked to know the president really is only granted power to (1) pick his/her cabinet (including Supreme Court appointees), (2) declare war, and (3) sign into law any legislation that makes it to his/her desk (and Congress can still veto it). I believe the best thing people can do if they want real change in their community is to: run for local office, become a community organizer, bring their expertise/skills back to their community, or volunteer in their community. Black/African policy is not "popular" and usually results incidentally through policy meant to help the majority. The other way is through blood, sweat, and tears, but this generation is not built for that. I can barely get my kids to request provisional ballots to vote. I think the majority of people cannot vote for someone that not qualified to be a janitor at McDonalds. Trump is an adjudicated rapist and convicted felon. The choice is not that hard for most people.

    Holding it down in South Africa for 2 years ain't easy. A house is not a home. New Orleans is bouncing backnfrom Hurricane Francine 🌀category1. Mostly no power. But Hurricane Katrina was a disastrous traumatic calamity. We still healing from it going on 20 years. Whitesupremacy is ongoing in SA and USA to the highest degree. Our Blackness is mainly reactionary just in order to exist.

    In South Africa we experienced one of the most brutal American policies under the Obama Administration on our agricultural sector and subsequently our health sector resulting in a negative impact on our economy. Red or Blue, America is bad for Africa.

  • @lifestylepretoria9181
    @lifestylepretoria9181 4 дня назад

    I don't think the red or the blue party has anything great for black people in the USA. A rock and a hard place. I also think it is insulting that the democrats are using race politics to lure votes from Black people when they are not offering anything worthwhile for black people. By now Black Americans should have learnt the tricks.

    We are waiting for the book We will buy and provide feedback. My observation on AAns is the following: AAns born after the abolition of racial segregation in 1964 tend to refer to slavery (which ended centuries ago), as if any of them had experienced it. I feel, it is a kind of abuse and exploitation of SAns ignorance and emotions. As you know, for us it is different, Apartheid was yesterday and, except the born free, we all went through this horrible thing; this crime against humanity, Apartheid. We all understand what it is to feel home and part of a society and we hope that you and your family will forever feel welcomed and at Home in SA. Just think about it. Thank you brother!

    The African American and Black South African experience mirrors each other and at various times in their history have fed off each other. Dr Malik is correct, the undrstanding is embedded in the shared racist historical experiences of the two groups. Im 40 years old. When we watched Boys in the Hood 8n 1992, we saw the exact lived experiences of young black men in Soweto, Langa, Compton, Brooklyn. New Orleans jazz culture gave birth to Sophia Town Jazz culture in the 50s. South Africa snd the USA are so similar it sometimes freaks me out. Wrote my Honours reasearch on the the shared similarities of Urban and Spatial Planning between the US and SA. Townships and Ghettoissation are the same thing both in design and consequence. Thats why those spaces produced Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela. Thats why those spaces produced Malcom X and Steve Biko. Thats why thise spaces produced 2 Pac Shaukur and Zola 7. Those spaces and places produced Aretha Franklin and Miriam Makeba. Black America and Black South Africa is the same thing. Its very painful trying to explain this to any other black person. When you know you know. When we see black Americans we see ourselves. We know exactly what they have gone through and continue to go through. Like their South African brothers both groups have carved out an identity for themselves a midst the struggle for social and economic justice. The three faces of racial abuse in the world are black americans, black South Africans and Palestinians. No other people can tell those three groups of people anything about racism, discrimination and segregation including the systematic and mass murder and silent genocide associated with that reality. We are proud to have you here in the land of your great grand fathers and mothers. Live and thrive.

    airbnb is the new school colonisation. "When their interest align, they all play their party". 😭South Africa has great potential for Black solidarity and building a better future. However, some successful Black South Africans and African Americans tend to assimilate into white-dominated spaces rather than reinvesting in predominantly Black communities. While I'm not suggesting everyone must live in townships or start charities, I believe we need to establish clear communication channels and goals for Black empowerment and self-determination. for us by us FUBU.

    You can block me but you are wrong brother. I see your mouth talking about infrastructures on this continent vs SA. People got sanctioned for kicking out Whites colonial powers... The Zimbabwe story is not new in the continent. You can see what is happening in Mali... In 1960s China was a poor country. There weren't any significant alternative to The West financially. You can retire in SA because the West is still dominating, what would happen if the West collapse? You don't want that scenario to happen. So please, enjoy SA and stop talking about other African countries.

  • @SiyabongaNkosi-u7q

    How old are you? Did you grow up in 1950s? Your parents experienced what you are describing are the same the people of Congo and anywhere else in Africa who grew up before 1960s went through this. We are free in SA today because our brothers and sisters of this continent (not from anywhere in the world) accepted to be sanctioned to support our struggle. Without their fight to oust colonial powers God only knows what we should be. America supported the apartheid regime. It changed only with the Perestroika in URSS. You were free of racial segregation since 1964. Feel welcomed and home but stop talking about what you don't know and stop seeing us as stupid. We have our problems with illegal immigrants from the continent mainly but we are still a family.
