    Dr Asad. I think America’s America. It don’t matter what the rest of us outside say. The system and structure of American life will always reflect and be American! Just like how South Africa is. You can critic the state but you can’t avoid America! American Democracy may not be fair! But it’s what it is!

    For someone to be elected to the highest office of the land in the USA, our country, he/she must be born in the USA from legal residents or US citizens.
    Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were both born in the USA from migrants (Trump's father came from Germany just before WW2).
    So, what happened during this election is KH, is Black and rejected by AAns (as she is not a N descendant and she is married to a White man). Trump is elected because he is white.
    KH faced xenophobia (from AAns) and racism (from non black communities) that's all.
    At the end of the day, there won't be any colored president in the USA for at least 5 decades.
    But the good news is, we, legal migrants are still welcomed and I don't think we are expecting more than what we receive.

    Doc, if you go back and look at the 1948 South African General election and the U.S. Presidential election in 2024 you see many similarities , and its down right scary. You had the liberal labor party who wanted to intergerate slowly with South Africans, and have a more unified country, lose to a conservative party of Afrikanners who used fear of black people, the economic issuses that ravaged the country to attain power. In a few years after the election , most South Africans, Indians saw the little rights they had vanished in the rise of Apartheid. It would be nearly 50 years before South Africa realized they made a horrible mistake electing the conservatives in 1948.. Elections have consequences! It only took one election to bring so much pain to millions of people!

    A South African perspective on the American Elections...LOL(So I might be wrong) I believe that people vote according to the political culture that people come from, so I am going to touch on immigration. Example: Chinese people tend to be apolitical and this makes sense because of the culture and political environment that they come from. They become political when their pockets are affected. The REPUBLICAN party protects those pockets. When something affects the group socially they lobby financially at the top to get the policy that they desire(East and South East Asians do this generally). Indian people love a good class/caste system anything that protects that will always win because wealth is preserved at the top. White Latinos will almost always vote white because that's what they have always done even in their countries of origin. The Brown Latinos tend to be very religious so the Republican party protects that. West, East and Central Africans have always politically worked to ingratiate themselves to the dominate culture that holds financial and economic dominance, this also peppered with religion the Republicans seem attractive. The UK is a prime example of this to me. Arabs who come from rich Gulf countries lobby at the top financially. So in my mind DEMOCRATS were always going to loose anyway because in as much as Republicans have an anti immigration stance it has ALWAYS benefited them in long run. The Tories vs Labour in the UK is also exactly the same. So for me African Americans have to consolidate their own power going forward, they have to learn to move in silence while building institutions that will lobby for them financially too.

      @@AfrikaBorwaPoliticking black people anywhere seem to struggle to consolidate power though. I love how you think.

    • @AfrikaBorwaPoliticking
      @AfrikaBorwaPoliticking Месяц назад

      @@SikiDlanga One of the biggest problems that black people have is that they think about the here and now and we cant afford that. We have to think about our grandkids grandkids. That's also how wealth, political power and global influence has always stayed in the same hands for over a 1000 years. The European from the 1600's was planning a future for his progeny in the 1800's. The slave owner from the 1800's was thinking about his progeny who will be in the 2000's. This is why the settler created systems and ideology around preserving themselves. One of the 1st rules for European settlers around in Foreign lands is that they have to create an indigenous identity on the new land that was taken. Look at what Māori in New Zealand are going through in 2024. The English became Kiwi and indigenous. The Dutch became Afrikaner, they are just Dutch from the Netherlands. Same story with the Aboriginals in Australia. You have to create a new indigenous identity. All of this is spelled out throughout colonial text

    Trump's border rhetoric is the primary reason why he resonates with some people in SA. There is no insight on how destructive his presidency is for the average Black American. His main selling point here is the border, which as you know is also a touchy subject here. A significant portion of our Township/Rural population tends hold far-right views when it comes to the border.

    I'm going to keep it a buck with y'all. I find the laughter 9 minutes into this clip to be in poor taste. When "Our" people (assuming you consider them that), people are about to go through some real trying times. I have visited 5 African countries (Ghana, Senegal, Gambia, Kenya and South Africa) in the past 5 years to build relationships and do in-person reconnaissance to help us determine where on The Continent we want to relocate. I fully understand this opportunity is not afforded to most Black Americans and diasporans as a whole across the globe due to finances and/or passport limitations, so it's not to be taken lightly. Prior to our SA trip, you were one of the content creators we referenced for your impressions of the country and the transition logistics. I thank you for that. I've heard you, in multiple videos, discuss american history and even take us through your Louisiana town which had some less than favorable areas you pointed out. I'm sure you would attribute some if not most of the cause(s) to the area as being the result of the myriad of ways systemic racism affects our communities. Also with you all being a family with knowledge of our history, you understand that under this new regime those conditions may be even more of our peoples reality, or even worse as you know history may not be cyclical but it does rhyme. I know we remix pain and turn tears into joy and jokes, but at least up until the point that I had to tap out(9 min), this ain't it. Stay focused, your enlightening people and your channel is going to be needed for the community. Just my two pennies.
