Saving this video for when its time. I have a launch/first revision console just like this one. So far, using my electric air duster seems to do the trick (I take out the fan and go to town), but I'm really glad this video shows you how to do it WITHOUT separating the motherboard from the heatsink. Disturbing the liquid metal was my biggest concern and this method addresses that. Thanks!
For anyone wondering, both PS4 and PS5 use T8 Security screws not "stars" A trick I've used when i don't have a T8 Security scredriver is taking a small flathead and jam it between the corners of the screw to open it. Alternatively, you can take a flathead and smash the little prong in the center of a T8 Security screw so you can fit a regular T8 inside
Very detailed cleaning video, however, I’d just focus on the high dust areas such as the ridges and the fans. Enough dust to affect anything isn’t getting into the console that much, so when it comes to taking off strips and Bluetooth wires and messing with hotsinks that might not be so necessary
You should be fine but to be safe it’s good to deep clean it every few months. Especially if you smoke as cigarette smoke acts like glue in the air for dust and makes it build up much more quickly.
After my 2nd laptop died from dust causing overheating and fans wearing out, I decided to build & use passive cooled PCs only. No fans = no forced dust packed inside CPU cooling fins. After 3 years of nearly constant use, still perfectly clean. Only slow vertical falling dust from gravity occasionally needs to be swiped off easy to reach surfaces with feather duster -- no dust packed inside delicate and tightly spaced CPU & GPU cooling fins that are impossible to reach. PS5 is designed to last only a short limited time, then it will most certainly die
This doesn't happen if you keep your house clean our house is always clean we got PS4 slim had it since 2013 not once had to dust it Off or clean the inside of it it doesn't overheat still running brand new we got games for it the same controller that came with we keep really good care of our stuff
Buying PS5 20 days from now buying demon souls my room is really clean no dust I clean my own room out not having the PS5 straight up having it on its side I would never have to clean it out or dust it Off my room is always clean the house is always clean
Facts, the guy removed the motherboard/heatsink with the front panel still attached by the ribbon cable, that guys whole gaming experience hinges on the most delicate cable of all time
@@jaymous91Don't listen to this man, this is a good video. Funny he comes to this video seeking a tutorial for something he doesn't know how to do, but judges. 😂

No problem I plan to do an updated version of this at some point.
thank you for actually showcasing a used ps5 and the results of cleaning it

Great advice!!
Had mine for 2 years and wanted to clean it because of this video but there wasn’t any dust at all
These videos are all fake, they put that thick layer of dust in there before cleaning it. Either that or they just live like animals.
Nice!
Haha funny, or just put it next to a window
Forgot to post a video where the ps5 still works. Lol… btw.. nice video.. will definitely watch this again while opening my ps5
Haha didn’t think of that, I’ll do it next time when the PS5 pro and slim come out.

Agreed most cases the fan is plenty, in my case the console was overheating so I had to do this to keep it on.
Im terrified of doing this, I know im gonna mess it up 😥
Yea, please be careful and take your time.
Actually this guy knows what he is doing this is deep cleaning
Why'd you skip the cleaning of the fan grate? That thing was cacked up
Sorry it was recorded but the part was corrupt. If you clean the fan just hold the center to stop it from spinning and clean it.
finally someone who know what the fuck they’re doing
Is deep cleaning it that important or can I just de dust it from the panels and I should be okay?
Only deep clean once in a while, unless you live in a dusty area. This will make your console last longer
You should be fine but to be safe it’s good to deep clean it every few months. Especially if you smoke as cigarette smoke acts like glue in the air for dust and makes it build up much more quickly.
What vacuum can i use?Isnt static electricity a problem?
It is not recommended to use any vacuum if you do use it only on the outer parts. Buy canned air.
Be VERY careful when removing fan connector. I managed to break mine when pulling the cable and had to leave it to repair shop.
Yes that connector is fragile. Only pull by the white plastic piece
@@jaymous91 also hold back the black piece with tweezers, I only pulled on the white plastic and still the whole part came off…
@@emirhusic1631 yes over time the heat degrades the plastic, it’s always a risk removing that part.
you dont really need to remove this much just the fan is good enough, not even the ribbons connecting the fan
I had to because of active overheating!

Interesting
Yeah you're putting it back together but does it work just saying where's the video?
I’ll do a SSD swap on it soon and show you then
If this was necessary you wouldn't void your warranty by opening it coming sense or I guess I'm old fashioned.
This console is years out of warranty, it is up to you to take care of it at this point..
people dont realize warrantys expire... lmao i hate when people bring up warrantys cause ur wasting ur time on them
I opened mine for the 1st time in 3 years and not even the dust catchers were dirty
Lucky!! lol
@@jaymous91 my fan is a little dusty on the inside but it works perfectly but other than tht yea no dust
What’s the tools you’re using and the brand vacuum so I can get to clean my son ps5
You will need a multi bit set for screw driver, I don’t recommend vacuums near electronics. Get a air can and wipe down the outer area
Is it okay I only did the first part until 1:49 , i was afraid to do the rest ,?.
Most cleaning only requires the first part.

Yep these people live like animals I swear.
That’s good advice
🔥
Thanks
Kiss your warranty goodbye lol
Chances are your warranty is already expired if your taking it apart anyway.
Yes, dont do this if you are within warranty lol
Who really cares to see what's inside the PlayStation that's the real reason they make these videos it's a PlayStation right play it
It is to ensure you don’t have to spend $600 on a new one because you did not take care of of it and it overheats killing your components.
You’ve left three idiotic comments, next time keep your random thoughts into one post if you can
Calling all RUclipsrs: do not play annoying music in the background. Ever!!!!

After watching this video I suggest going to someone else's video

The fact he actually put the panels back on dirty as hell tells me he half assed the cleaning on the rest
