Great review, I think the headband is made of tempered stainless steel though, I’ve had the HD490 pros for a little over a week. Taking the place of my HD600 set. They are definite upgrade from my HD600s. Cheers.

They are also great for people that listen to music. The Sennheiser HD 490 Pros pair outstandingly well with the Fiio K7. They blow the dated 650's out of the water. Also the headband is made of stainless steel. Nice overview.

Is it a good upgrade from the original AirPods?

Be VERY careful when removing fan connector. I managed to break mine when pulling the cable and had to leave it to repair shop.

This is pretty much what the old school netbooks used to be albeit with a lot less storage (my 2008 Samsung came with a 250GB HDD, my Asus XCH had a 320GB HDD). I've long thought this new variant (64GB eMMC/4GB RAM/low end CPU) should be on sale at Toys'R'Us for less than $100, that's about their mark. A friend of mine had one of these Evolve Maestros (sadly not the one with the M.2 slot), a few days ago he asked me to fix a keyboard issue (wrong keyboard installed) and price it for sale. It's a year old, he bought it for 80 GBP, wanted 60 EUR for it, which isn't a bad price in our neck of the woods. Fired it up, it was running W11 Home and the CPU and eMMC were maxed out doing practically nothing. Almost unusable for a few minutes, when it settled down a quick check with Crystal DiskMark showed the eMMC doing a 1GB sequential read & write at about 77MB/s each. At that point I decided it was easily the second worst laptop I have ever seen. So I bought it... Plan A was to downgrade it to W10 and take it from there. During that process I found that the W11 installation was a hooky one activated with KMS and the laptop had a valid licence for W10 Pro (full version, not Education) so installed that. Installing updates took a while, I partly blamed the eMMC for that, but once done Crystal DiskMark showed the eMMC doing the same read/write test as before at a much improved 280 MB/s each, about par for the course with eMMC. It boots quickly enough and once on the desktop it's usable in about 20 seconds. Fine by me. Next step was a resource friendly browser. I went for PaleMoon, used it before on low end kit, much better performance than the phat browsers, others are available. After that I went at it with Autoruns, mostly to stop the scheduled MS Edge tasks (as I wouldn't be using it), and also to knock out one or two other things I wouldn't need. None of this is hardcore sorcery, on a machine like this don't waste CPU and RAM running crap you don't need to run, particularly at startup. At the moment it's now set up for my usual use case with this class of machine - casual internet, general office tasks (Libre Office, screw the MS bloat), movies, music, books, a little streaming video here & there and the occasional not too demanding game. I'm not going to gloss over the downsides, on the face of it there's a few things not to like. Cheap 1366 x 768 screen, the wifi isn't great, RAM isn't upgradeable or replaceable - if that goes south (very rare, I don't see it often) the machine's a bin job, the CPU is totally 2017 and one of the worst performers you can get these days (there's a couple of AMDs still around that are even worse) and the whole shooting match is made of 22 karat Chinesium. eMMC issues though can be worked around, the USB was a pleasant surprise, I did the same read/write test as before on a 120GB Kingston 2 1/2 inch SSD in a USB case, got 450 MB/s read and 320 MB/s write, booting it off that is a performance boosting option. The battery life, if it's not telling me lies, is looking like 7 hours on a full charge. For now I'm happy with the performance but I'm going to give it a month doing what I'd normally do with one of these and see what happens. If I don't like it, where I am I can sell it on for 80-100 EUR, there's plenty of people who would use it just for email and office and happily pay that. Now, here's the thing. These laptops were on sale last year at Media Center for 60 USD, and I have got to ask you just what the heck you expect for that sort of money. Comparing it to $300+ of i3, 8GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD is very much a case of apples and oranges. The first rule of buying a computer has always been figure out what you want to do with it, add some wiggle room, do your homework, and buy the machine that best fits your needs. If you buy one of these just on price and feel ripped off that's a you problem, and paying more than you have to for specs you don't need is just as big a mistake.

For anyone wondering, both PS4 and PS5 use T8 Security screws not "stars" A trick I've used when i don't have a T8 Security scredriver is taking a small flathead and jam it between the corners of the screw to open it. Alternatively, you can take a flathead and smash the little prong in the center of a T8 Security screw so you can fit a regular T8 inside

Celeron N3450 is just shit. This processor serie has improved by a lot though. The new intel N100 is comparable (except newer) and has a significantly higher benchmark, comaparable to a 6th gen intel i7 processor or 8th gen i5. 4GB RAM is also extremely limited. That definitively does not work well with windows 10 any more :(

Linux would run well on this though.
