“When we pulled in, I was showing my son where they had placed Whitney's body until the people could come and get her. And I was here before she ever left her room upstairs. And I must admit, pulling up brought back the pain that this night represented for me for the last 12 years. And tonight, I'm here to reverse it. And he's helping me to do that. And I'm proud to be able to come back to a place that for many years I've been afraid to even come near this place. But now I'm here. I'm facing it head on.”
(Reporter: "I see tears in your eyes as they are remembering the good times? What are the tears about?")
Burrell: "It's joy. It's the feelings of the we almost with me and Whitney. I was nominated that year and I wasn't even coming here to get my award. I wasn't interested in that. I responded because Whitney says, 'I'm going to L.A. and I need you by my side.' And I said, 'Okay, well, what are we doing first? She said, 'I got to go to Clive's party.' Yeah. You know, and so I'm just here to overcome that. I didn't realize it was going to be so heavy."

STORYLINE:
Gospel singer Kim Burrell is finally facing the trauma of losing her friend Whitney Houston at the Beverly Hilton hotel in 2012.
“When we pulled in, I was showing my son where they had placed Whitney's body until the people could come and get her. And I was here before she ever left her room upstairs. And I must admit, pulling up brought back the pain that this night represented for me for the last 12 years. And tonight, I'm here to reverse it," she said.
The singer, accompanied by actor Tyrese Gibson, was attending Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party in Beverly Hills.
"I'm proud to be able to come back to a place that for many years I've been afraid to even come near this place. But now I'm here. I'm facing it head on.”
She recalled the dark moment.

@@ke83984 first off, the fact that Kim was Whitney's friend from the 90's and we didn't find out until 2-3 years should be enough. But you're right Kim wasn't a friend to Whitney, she was her Sister!
