You've have earned a sub. I run into the issue all the time, I do bodybuilding as a stress reliever, I go to the gym and workout for 2-3 hours and instead of posting fitness pics or PR's of my lifts or pose pics. I post pictures of my hot toys and marvel legends figures. I get a lot of people I go to school with and people at my gym just giggle at me and it use to bug me but now I've come to a point and you mentioned it in this video, I use to get mad and lash out but I began to think. They laugh and criticize that way because they are intolerant of others who refuse to what they say "grow-up" or what is called conformity. My biggest burden were my folks but they eventually saw it made me happy and didn't affect me in anyway and left me alone. People will never understand however much you explain to them. I try to explain certain ways I perceive things and I usually get called weirdo or crazy or just people laugh, its fine. Then in a way it somehow discredits our ability to provide insight on anything life related.
josue Fuentes exactly but at times it would just get to me you know?Josh says it perfectly, people are agents of sociology. They can be agents of change or agents that repress certain change. People associate figure collecting with a lack of socializing and being very awkward and it's not true. But i hate how people like us not most but some of us have to hide it because our views, opinions, and values face certain degradation. It's almost being a herding dog for sheep, you do it right just differently but the sheep only speak and see one definitive way.
jajaja, i relate with your comment, i have friends on facebook that ...it seems to me not to have any interesting things to share but their stupid ugly selfies that i don´t care about, i like instead post pics of my barbie dolls, over time i not only collect them but i´ve learn to sew, repaint them, reroot their hair, even make my own dolls if i want, and i think that is a very profitable, and wonderful way to develop my skills, instead of becoming better on fixing my skin and my hair with apps to post fake pics of myself all the time...
Exactly!!You get the point!Behind Toys and dolls and figures there are drawings, artist a hard work and who has created them didn't mean to be a Loser! They Earn a lot doing the best job ever to me:design toys!!Few people are jealous of who collect what they like and can afford because they are boring people!!
Lmao I thought you said autistic at first when quickly reading and got mad but I then see you said artistic and you are right I like writing satire fanfics and my figures I use to give me inspiration when I hit a writers block.
My husband and I are 39 & 37 and we both still love to collect toys & figures! are not ashamed to walk into toy sections, go to toy fairs, flea markets, antique stores etc. We are both kids at heart and so is our 16 year old son. He loves the figures that we grew up with and cartoons too, like saber riders, mask, cops etc., We also have a toddler and thus the cycle will continue and carry on.
You are awesome you, your husband and your family I think it should be the law to collect figures The world would be a much peaceful place in my opinion.
Collecting toys doesn’t make you a loser. Your just being yourself. People need to stop judging others for being different. I collect figures and I don’t care what others think about me. I’m doing something that I enjoy. Screw everyone else
You are a loser. Collecting junk. I woke up recently and am getting rid of my collections as I realize how stupid and how much of a loser I was. The money and space I wasted on this junk astounds me and I want to slap my younger self.
I'm in my 50's & STILL collect action figures & toys. I started in the early 70's with "Major Matt Mason" (a brilliant range of space toys & figures). I stopped collecting in my late teens due to University & the inevitable fear of what "others" might think of me (hence the sheep mentality today). It wasn't until the late 90's that action figure production improved & so did my interest in toys along with the realisation I didn't really care what people think I also went through bouts of selling/reducing my collection, which I would highly recommend. At my age I value my own joy in something MORE than the approval of others - it's a basic question that will weigh on all your life decisions. Do not use the approval of others as the driver for your existence (unless it's something harmful to your health of course). I enjoy toys but still have a professional job, normal relationships, a property portfolio, travel around the world and do all the adult things. In the past 5 years the huge improvements in articulation, sculpt & paint (God Bless face printing) of action figures makes them more art than toy. My collection brings me a LOT of joy - so KEEP COLLECTING ! (PS: I don't drink or take ANY substances either ... the money is better spent on a new SH Figuarts, Hasbro or MAFEX figure ! )
seriously, collecting toys are my anti-depressants.i collected lots of funko pops, gundam kits,ps4 collector statues, etc.and when someone says that it's too "CHILDISH"(says my cousin, some friends,my neighbor)i really don't bother.if collecting makes you happy so be it ,just be a responsible collector.Don't be a slave to other people's opinion.the best thing for me is when some visitors especially kids saw my entire collections, they be like "woooooooooahhhhh" and start pointing side by side, asking who is that, where did you buy that?,can i have that?and im a bit nervous because they might break things but luckily not.life is too short so enjoy and respect each others hobby
What makes no sense to me is why people would make fun of someones passions. If you like to collect toys or action figures as a hobby or doing for fun, then what's the big deal? The people who turned away from this channel just are haters.
+The Josh Speaks One collects what one loves. It's innocent. As long as it's not something sick or wrong, it's OK. Collecting things doesn't mark one as a loser. I collect toys, among other collectable valuables. All my interests are of a healthy bent. YOU JUST KEEP ROCKIN ON, BROTHER.
You have an awesome mindset Josh! You're a unique person and I love following your Instagram and you're one of my favourite RUclipsrs. This video is also very relevant to all forms of conforming and I agree with it 100%.
In my opinion, it just makes you more awesome because you are just being yourself. For me, collecting brings me a lot of nostalgia. Growing up I couldn't afford many of the stuff I wanted to collect. Now, I try to collect some of the things I wanted when I was younger. Along the process, I realized that I just enjoyed collecting in general.
PinkyBear this is my exact thought process, I’m 20 years old now and there was so many things I wanted as a kid that I could never had. Every-time I purchase something it makes me feel the nostalgia and excitement I had as a kid.
What a great video! And I can totally relate to this. Growing up I have always been a geek and a nerd. I was always into toy collecting, star wars, comics, video games, and all geek related stuff. And I was happy with it. I was still a complete geek when I graduated High School. But it all changed during my 20's. Being a geek I was always awkward with the girls. Whenever I met a girl I like, I don't know what to do or say. But then around my early 20's I started working out and try to dress differently. And I was quite shocked because lots and lots of girls would start flirting with me and try to get my attention. And I was loving it. My guy friends back then told me that I have to stop being a nerd and a geek because "Girls don't dig that" and that nerds are absolute "losers" in a girl's mind. And so I quit toy collecting and all the nerdy stuff and start hanging out at the club to try to meet as many girls as I can. But you know what, it didn't make me happy. And the worst part of it is I didn't even know that I wasn't happy. All it took was an event in my early 30's that made me realize "I'm the most happiest in my life when I was a geek". And so I started to return to my geeky self and it felt sooooooo good. I began toy collecting again, reading up on science, playing video games, and other geeky stuffs. Before I always hide the fact that I used to collect toys when I'm meeting a new girl. But now I always tell the women I met upfront that I collect toys. And it always gets interesting when they smile and ask "Can you show me your collection" 😂. And I have to say after embracing my nerdy self, I'm at the happiest point in my life right now. Sure some people still calls me a loser because I collect toys. But as long as I'm happy, then their opinion doesn't matter.
I remember as a kid I loved buying action figures. Whether they were cheap or not I didn't care I just wanted it. I had this big box of toys and everyday I would play with them and make stories. And all my friends thought it was really cool that I played with action figures. But one day my mom told me that I should give them away because I was in the 8th grade and what not. At first I really didn't want to because I love them so much but I ended up getting pressured to giving away my entire box because I didn't want to seem like a loser. So I gave them away and I didn't buy any toys for years. I would always see some when I went out shopping but I didn't want to be judged by everyone so I tried to ignore it. Fast forward years later. I'm 19, got a job and I'm back to buying action figures again. I don't worry as much as I did for what people would think. Somedays I do start to worry but seeing this gives me the courage to do what I want. So thanks for the video 😁
Hey man that's awesome to hear that you're doing what you enjoy doing. I know that there is social pressure for you to give things up but the best thing to do is to allow yourself to evolve your hobbies in ways that work for you.
The Josh Speaks Yes definitely in elementary school and early middle school I remember being called a loser for liking superhero movies and that was like 6 or 7 years ago but now it's the number one popular thing in terms of box office.
Just like people who collect so much shoes or bags but only uses like 3 of them. Atleast figures are so pleasing to look at it brings joy to your geeky heart
I recently started collecting anime figures, after a long time of having the toxic "that's so childish!" mindset. After picking a few figures from series I like, I saw how close-minded I was! Figures are nice to look at and liven up my space, and have gotten me though some rough times. Having a cute anime girl or superheroe to look at is no different than buying a sculpture for a living room, you have because it looks nice and makes you feel something!
Toys have always been part of my life in some way, but they've never caused me ridicule; it's something I only ever hear about online. My wife of 15 years loves them, even though they don't personally interest her, and my friends just think they're cool.
I’m eleven and I buy a lot of marvel legends from this comic shop but my mum doesn’t like taking me there because she thinks that toy collectors are weird and she has said the same thing about toy collectors mental illness (she’s says the same thing about people who play dnd and mtg) and it can be really frustrating some times and I wish she wouldn’t be so judgemental
I’ve been collecting action figures for over 40+ years now. I’m still a kid at heart and will never grow up as long as my inner childhood is still inside of me.
YES! I’ve been bullied my whole life.I’m almost 30 & I still love wrestling. I have a wall dedicated in my bedroom to just wrestling posters. I also collect beanie baby boos in different sizes, stuffed gnomes, pop figures and other random stuff. I love stuffed animals. I would like it noted that I am happily engaged to someone who also has his own collections/hobbies. Mainly video games. To my knowledge my collecting has never been a problem in my previous relationship. However, someone did break up with me once because all my cartoon character tattoos (little mermaid, power puff girls, princess castle, pop tart, Christmas lights, crayon etc) made them feel like they were dating someone with a child’s coloring book on their arms. Apparently that wasn’t acceptable to them...? Their loss, not mine. I like to surround my home in stuff that make me happy. This is my safe & happy place. If someone has a problem with it, that’s their issue. I live here. I also suffer from depression & anxiety. I will admit surrounding myself with stuff that makes be happy, childish or not, really helps me mentally. Keep being awesome. Don’t worry what others think. You just need to do you and keep marching forward. It’s your life!
I collect anything horror! figures, posters, blu rays and so on. But I’m a large muscular man who has had a few amateur fights and also dresses in designer clothing and so on. It’s so funny when I get to know someone and they end up seeing all my stuff! They always say they don’t expect it, but the thing is it’s just a hobby as normal as anyone else’s.
Please do a video on your first high school dance. I missed out on homecoming and my friends said everyone just grinds and it's super ackward. I'm also curious to know, if you have a date to a dance how often do you hang out with them? Do you just only interact with them during slow dances? These are questions I hope you answer in a video. Thanks!!
Already in my mid 20s and working now, plus I have two of my most beloved toys from childhood that I have put on my shelf as a reminder of who I was and bought some RC cars(race cars and sport cars) which is one of my few hobbies
Hey Josh, I just stumbled across your video on toy collecting. I'm 45 and really enjoy action figures. I'm often astounded by the judgement and attitude I get when people learn this about me. I don't understand why there's so much negativity behind it. I buy expensive ones when I'm able, but I never buy something I can't easily afford. I fit no stereotype....I'm a weightlifter that wears a cowboy hat and boots everywhere I go, but I also collect action figures and study Shakespeare. If someone comes over to my place and I was collecting shot glasses or knives, no one would think twice, but they come over to some Harley Quinn and Batman and it's like "that's a waste of money" or the what's-wrong-with-you look. The judgement does still bother me at times and makes me want to stick a new Batman figure in a drawer to hide it, but that reaction seems so stupid to me. What's wrong with enjoying something so simple that I view and appreciate like the art the artists intended it to be?
Yeah amen dude honestly collecting starwars and Marvel is the best way to not get into drugs or alcohol people who hate on us collectaers are usually the miserable ones not us.
I’m 14 turning 15 soon and I collect marvel legends and Star Wars figures, and my parents think it’s a waste of money, none of my friends have the same interests as me which is totally fine, one of my best friends makes fun of me for collecting and liking Star Wars and marvel, and I could never tell her why I collect or like those things. I’d loved too but she’d laugh at me, when I was in a very lower space in my life, the only thing that got me out of it was marvel and Star Wars, collecting the figures I do makes me feel really connected and safe, but you know my dad had to say something today about me buying some figures and all I can think is, why did I spend my money on these, do I really need these? But this video really made me feel better, so thank you very much for posting this!
Collecting toys doesn't make you a loser, unlike what people say. These are the people that have like 14 of the same decor in their house. But hoarding the same toy is.
I honestly don’t care what people think of me I brag about my immaturity who cares what they think I love transformers and Star Wars and all that stuff it’s just hard to get a girlfriend with this hobby but maybe I’ll find someone someday
I was so self conscious about collecting toys all throughout high school and middle school I would literally go to Walmart and try to sneak around so no one saw me buying it. But the older I got and as soon as I got in college I finally got over it and honestly am proud of my hobby. I do toy photography on my Instagram and talk about my hobby as much as I can.
I am a collector but all of my friends and people in my school & environment are not collectors and it makes feel very uncomfortable although most of my friends saw my room and ignored my collection and didn’t mention something about it but for some reason I still feel uncomfortable with it
Life is short and life goes on. Collecting toys is as same as collecting stamps and books. There’s no shame to love toys because we both have the time love playing toys. I have a friend loves playing barbie and now she got married! It’s not a reason should stop what we actually like to do in life! It is not the thing to measure if a person is mature or not. Mature is all about taking responsibility. If playing toys is immature, what about the people who bully their colleagues at their workplace? They are adults and properly love buying clothes and never wear it again too!
Doesn’t matter, if your life is based around whether someone is a loser or not because of what they do, is superficial and kind of sad in itself, as long as your not hurting someone and any living thing, it’s in your private time and it’s your own comfort, not being funny you should be looking at yourself and why your making it your business if you think someone’s a loser for it. You really should, think about it, why are you making someone else’s interest your business in a negative way? That to me personally is very strange, I don’t think your a loser, that’s just hypercritical, but I mean the thought process is strange because you obviously have some issue around it. But I love this video, thanks for making it and your cute. X
Hasbro CEO: Damn, our sales are up. Hasbro Accountant: We figured it out. Turns out there is some $5 off coupon loophole people are exploiting. Hasbro CEO: Oh shit, void that coupon immediately.
A wonderful topic to dicuss , new to your channel and this video won me over . My girfriend and I both collect and have our own shelves to display , she collects more anime statues , where me I collect godzilla, monsters, gundammodel kits and some anime figures as well and we both talk with pride about our passions because no one has the right to say what one person should and shouldn't like. What makes you happy and believing in yourself with set passion is all that matters.
I used to let what people think get to me, and tbh sometimes I still do, but overall I've come to learn that if people want to judge me for collecting figures, then they can just get bent. I feel like no matter what soneone collects, whether it be figures, shoes, vinyl records, even vehicles - they're all material objects that only have as much as value as you put into it. No matter how much you bought it for or what it is, it's just an object that has nothing more than sentimental value for you. I see someone who collects figures as no different than someone who collects shoes, or records whatever it may be.
I collect manga volumes and some figurines too. People judge me for that sometimes but to be honest, I don't understand why. As you were discussing about it, I don't get why it is worse to collect figurines etc. than to collect shoes for example. Why do people put so much weight into the things that you like (and not in the good way.)
I think that it's cool you still collect toys and action figures. For me I collect comics, books, blu-rays and some lego sets and it doesn't really bother me too much if someone doesn't like me collecting it. Why? Because I'm pretty sure everyone does something other would call weird. Not nesscerry collecting things but doing and liking things as well. Everyone has that weird facination that other's wouldn't call normal but I respect anyone who can accept that others do it and admit they like something weird. Including me, I love collecting comics, books, blu-rays and lego and I'm not ashamed of it. I also find it funny how people think they shouldn't listen to you because you have toys and yet you're married so what's the problem.
I think for some people it's deflecting from what is really bothering them. They are looking for someone to solve all of their problems and when they see that it's not an idealized version of who they want to be then they feel anxious about it.
I'll be 20 here in the next couple of weeks and I just got back into figure collecting. I have collections of Neca Aliens and Predators and Just started collecting Castlevania figures. I don't think my parents have noticed yet because they are displayed in an area that's hard to see unless you walk in my room, so I haven't been made fun of for it yet. I also collect certain models, swords, and mainly books. (yeah I have too many hobbies.😅) and I think those are too distracting from noticing the figures. The only support I get is from only one of my friends. The rest of my other friends haven't seen much of the geeky side of me yet. It's hard when you have family members look down on your hobbies and interests, but keep your head up high. If it bothers or concerns them it's their problem, not yours.
I've never been into action figures, but i do love Star Trek and Sci Fi which i have had disparaging remarks about from others so i do know what it's like.I've been in relationships were i've had to "put that stuff away and act my age".Yes your right about being yourself, but remarks can still hurt.Enjoyed your video.
Good for you man, do what makes you happy as long as it isn’t illegal or brings physical harm to others. Also, I’m glad that I heard this, I’m entering college and still watch cartoons and feel self conscious sometimes. There are many things that I like to collect, and I’d like to add some transformers to those collections but am incredibly worried about what others think, even though I try not to care
I am 45 Years old, and I still collect what I want ,but part of my collection grew up with me ,the toys now are very expensive, transformers dlx threezero, transformers master piece, and some regular afordable price like Marvel legends and gi joe classified, some times I have a trouble and need money ,soo I can put them on sale and get my money back ,some times win I me times I loose ,but collecting toys doesnt mean youre a child, means I am confortable with myself and I can work and rise a family and play with my kids.
Thank you so much for this video! I collect pop culture barbies and am open about it. I get a lot of snide comments...and it kinda bothers me, but my love for the physical manisfenstation of a character I love and admire is greater than my desire to 'grow up'. Plus I've always done my own thing. My parents are especially critical of my collection of anime figures, artwork and stuffed plushes. They threw out my old collection when I was 19 yrs old.
I don't care what people think. I've told people I collect and customize figures and they've been accepting of it. Some even offering constructive criticism. If it makes you happy then do it. Don't buy into "social norms"
Nah just control and balance the amount of toys specially if you dont have space in house specially if you just renting house not owning toys figures are not for kids and child only its also for adults depends in people too your not doing those for others only your doing those for yourself and hobbies thats better to collect toys than to collect bad habits and attitudes or taking illigal drugs and drink alcohol and cigarettes and steeling money to other
Toy collecting definitely has a taboo associated with it, i did the whole cool crowd thing at school and in my 20's but now i just do what i want. During those years in order to fit in you have to fit to social norms otherwise it makes your life more difficult so its easier to just give in then fight. Now i am older i dont have those same peer pressures so i just buy the things i want as its my house, my money and ill buy things that i want.
I play with my marvel legends, pose them take photos. A friend of mine said i wasnt gonna get Girls if they see my room. I never had problems getting dates i think ive been in more dates then my friend, And sometimes they join in my collecting hobby. Trying to find a rare figure with me or even start a collection, dont ever listen to poeple that "think only they know what is normal". Im an adult its my money my life my choice on buying playing or enjoying my free time with the characters i love.
This reminds me of an article I read recently: A kickboxer Twitted multiple times commenting and insulting anyone who liked cartoons and anime - mainly calling them losers and that women won't respect them, that he gets all the pretty ladies and they don't, etc. Of course, it lead to him getting bombarded with messages, both calling him out on his closed mindedness and proving him wrong. Little does he know that these people (who are richer and more successful than he'll ever be) are into anime: James Cameron, Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena (yes, THAT John Cena), Pherrell Williams, Keanu Reeves, Kanye West, Tobey Maguire, Christian Bale, Robbin Williams, Snoop Dog, Avril Lavigne, Meagan Fox, Hayley Williams (who even cosplayed on stage as Saya from Blood: The Last Vampire), Daft Punk, Dylan & Cole Sprouseand (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody stars), and Guillermo del Toro. I only have one figurine, but my room is mostly filled with Gunpla (Gundam Plastic models). I'm not ashamed to have them - been building them since I was young. My parents said I was a loser for having, building and spending money on them. Little did they know, that it's better than spending my money on drugs, and that plastic models are a huge market and show one's creativity and crafting. If someone can't accept me for the fact that I have models in my room, and enjoy my hobby, they aren't worth my time.
@@DaveOMatic1980 Andrew Tate. He's a kickboxer who went on a Twitter spree insulting anime fans while boasting how much better he is to them (even showing off the kind of women he hangs with). Basically he's a prideful douchebag who has major insecurities. He was even dissed by one of the top fighters who he and his wife also like anime (and are both more successful than he is).
i always thought figure collecting was so cool, but when i was in highschool i didnt think about it that much anymore which made me stop collecting since i thought i “grew” up. junior year i stumbled upon little tokyo and saw the gundam displays and i was just in awe, this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia hit me. during that time i was in a date so i didnt buy anything a week after i came back by myself and bought one. ever since then i finally grew this huge gundam collection and then i stopped again. i started hanging out with my friends more started smoking and drinking, and one day we were reminiscing and we started talking about toonami and i mentioned gundam and one of them said they were cool. so i grew the courage to say i collected them and showed them a picture of my collection. i was so nervous of what they were gonna think... but i was so happy to hear their opinion thinking that it was cool, ever since then theyve been open to talk to me about anime and stuff haha. my current girlfriend was someone i had always had a crush with because she was from a different scene, she was one of those party bad girls.. i was very embarrassed to let her in my room at first, until i did. i hit her with the i dont want you to think im a loser because i collected these but when she saw them she thought they were cool, the fact that i had a hobby and and collected something was cool for her and she was like i wish i didnt grow up too fast and threw away my bratz dolls and i felt really connected with her. honestly collecting isnt something to be ashamed of because of its a part of who you are then you arent being yourself if you let others opinions get to you. so many people i know show little signs of having some sort of toy in their room, packaged or unpackaged. if you grow up and you still like toys it doesnt really make you a loser, because there are others who have similar hobbies who think similarly like us. im 21 and i can still say to this day that im still very int gundams haha i have an IG displaying my collections and it makes me happy to see people like the content that i post, so i know im not the only one out there with this hobby. im very confident with my shelves filled with gundams. i wish others could accept themselves and not be ashamed of what they do as a hobby.
This comment hit me hard. I also have an IG of Nintendo related stuff like games and figures, I’ve been running this page of mine since the 9th grade and still to this day, non of my friends know that I have a IG dedicated to my collection. I’ve made so many online friends and memories. I’m a 1st year in college rn and I’m at the point where I’m like “I need to grow up” but I still enjoy my stuff.
@@nintensky7219 no need to grow up. After 3 years of posting this comment my collection has just gotten larger! And I’m 25 now compared to when I was 21 lol I figured out that. All those times we were wondering what we would want to be in the future is what we always want to be our whole lives and that’s just to be free! Be free man! Do what your heart desires collect all the Nintendo products you can get! You only live once!
Dear Josh, that's the first time I watch one of your videos. Does collecting toys make us such a kind of losers? Thanks to my passion for Masters of the Universe action figures and Subbuteo Table Football Game (one of the most popular boardgames in Europe during the '80s) I found a way to recharge my mind and spirit after endless working days sometimes full of daily worries and responsibilities. I am over 40 years old, university professor and diplomat. I don't think to be a loser at all ;) Keep positive and be proud of your passions, Vincenzo
Lots of people collect things whether it's stamps or guns or glassware, I just think it's a hobby if it makes you happy it's perfectly okay not a mental illness and it doesn't hurt anyone, Really there is a lot of bad things a person can do like drugs, alcohol or bullying people those are bad things collecting is a productive good thing.
Nothing wrong with owning nice things. They make for great decor. I don't understand stacking them on a shelf or putting them in an aquarium. Be creative. Put up backdrop displays. Use them as decorations. I also don't get people who collect a different version of the same thing over and over. I would be put off if I entered someones home and it was crowded with hello kitty toys, beanie babies, or my little pony figurines. Variety and moderation make a difference. Theres more to someone than owning stuff. Don't let it define you. When people think of toy collectors they don't exactly imagine hot attractive people. They imagine nerdy boys with crusty ball sacks who stay at home and jerk off to anime. You can be a cool person and still collect cool sh*t. Just don't give it a bad image and it'll change others perception of you.
I'm in my 30's and I have TWO rooms upstairs full of Lego and other toys. I have no debt, and I own my home free and clear. I am an adult who saves 25 percent of my income, so I can do whatever the hell I want. It's 2020, and way past time to stop judging others.
I never even really told anyone my age I was an action figure collector and I still had trouble making friends and dating. Hence more proof it's not necessarily what your hobbies are that determine your social success but more the person you are and the values you share with others.
Mate screw anyone who thinks that collecting figures is sad because it ain’t, you like what you like and as long as it makes you happy that’s all that matters. I collect 1/6 scale figures like hot toys etc and I just love how realistic they look and I’m a bit of a fanboy so yano it makes me happy so it works for me!
My girlfriend made an ignorant remake about my hobbie of watching action vids on RUclips. I don’t even collect them and I was so disgusted I dumped her.
I collect sideshow court of the dead and hot toys star wars, the reason we are called "loosers" is because society thinks you should do as society wants you to. Fuck that.
Hey, im 13 and i like wwe and their figures but i dont have a problem to say that i like to collect figures because for me is something that makes me happy and also if theres people that says shit to me for collecting those toys for me its better because then i will know that they are not my friends now my best friends even know what types of figures of wwe there were jakks hasbros and mattel and even one of them gaved me a figure and made me so happy even if it was a loose fig Nice video greetings from spain
Freaking love this video! I have never cared what people thought about my likes, such as my love for heavy metal, comic books/trade paperbacks , statues/toys, muscle cars/trucks/ Harleys and Mix Martial Arts. I have always accepted everyone for who they are and what they like, so anyone who accepts me will always have my respect.
I have put my Eaglemoss lead figurine superhero collection in my law office as well as canvasses with pictures of my favourite 2000ad characters. I even made a life sized Tharg the Mighty. And to hell with anybody who thinks it is inappropriate. Life is too short to reduce your enjoyment of what you love.
I like drawing and I collect action figures... I have been called immature for both things. At times I have felt like I should stop doing both, but then I realize that it does make me happy so screw those that criticize!
No matter what you collecting, insecure people always have something to say, hate,or troll they are trying to be look smart or tough on internet,as far as i know most of hateful people like that cant afford or dont have extra income for some hobby, their income can only paiy for their living cost, thats why they keep trolling to look smart. As long as we dont bothering other people with our hobbies then it just fine,it's our own money to spend it,im collecting some watches so i know how wonderful it feels to have something that we must take care of it,and my 50+years old neighbor are collecting hot wheels toy but it still fun to talk about our hobbies with him.
1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. - this means to mature spiritually It was not talking about toys. A toy is something you play with, which include video games, board games etc. most times people only collect due to the art of the toy along with the character. In actuality most toys will only see the bottom of the dump if they were just model to be play with at an certain age. Thus why many artist/ creators are modeling them for adults collectors. You have to be careful for a lot of psychotic individuals have ruin the pure essence of the art of doing anything deemed unusual. But remember you only live once. It's 2018 and there are many WOMEN who collect toys .. boys toys.. so collect but have a life outside your collection.
I'm 54 and have seen a lot and been through a lot in my life . I've seen friends and family die from drug and alcohol related issues, during my time as a first responder I saw every kind of evilness and sadness you could imagine, I watch on TV and have seen with my own eyes killing, stealing, and destruction all over the US . For someone to say collecting Action Figures / Comics is bad needs to do some serious soul searching. For me collecting comics , action figures, watching Marvel /DC/ Disney, Andy Griffin, Christmas Shows ect ... is just clean and decent fun .
Honestly, I am too scared to even try to talk to a girl. I am scared that to tell them that I collect action figures, and i am scared that they will laugh and make fun of me. So I don't try, and i pretty much put myself down every time I get even a little bit of courage. I have probably told one friend that I collect action figure, because i am afraid that my friends won't like me anymore. I keep it a secret, and i will probably keep it a secret until someone sees me in a store, or they find out somehow. Sometimes i get to the point where I ask myself, why do I collect action figures, or I tell myself that no girl my age wants a guy who collects action figures. The only reason i still do it, is because it makes me happy. But, then I go back to school with a secret that if everybody found out about it, I wouldn't know what to do.
I ain't no wise guru, but I know there ate other people like you, like us out there, I was able to make new friends and relationships through my hobbies, have it be action figures, model kits or miniatures, I think that if you go out and just put enough risk to find so.eone to talk to you will find the people you are looking for, or join communities, I made new friends and relationships through warhammer 40k tabletop and I love it
As a fellow collector, I note that collecting may be a bit undermining in unhealthy doses. It's not collecting that makes you a loser. It's when collecting GETS IN THE WAY of your adult life and your real responsibilities. If all your free time is dedicated to collecting INSTEAD of building a mature lifestyle (pursuiting a successful career, buying a car, buying/renting a house, getting a relationship/friends, start a family, developing bonds with those around you), then THAT's when you got a problem. Because you lose the chance to live a life worth living. When collecting is your life, then your life is just full of plastic.

A loser is someone who listens to other "Losers"and end up being unhappy like them, Do what makes you Happy
so well said.
Words of wisdom right there 😂👍🏻
Blondale 100% True
Could not agree more.
Facts
People who collect action figures, etc. are usually highly artistic. I see toy collecting as a result of feeding the imagination.
Truth!
Lmao I thought you said autistic at first when quickly reading and got mad but I then see you said artistic and you are right I like writing satire fanfics and my figures I use to give me inspiration when I hit a writers block.

Me too.
If you collect collectibles and put them on your shelf for display then that makes you cool
Exactly!
And if you play with them like I do; I makes you awesome!
no it really doesnt.

Collecting toys doesn’t make you a loser. Your just being yourself. People need to stop judging others for being different. I collect figures and I don’t care what others think about me. I’m doing something that I enjoy. Screw everyone else
Dude you're awesome I collect M.O.T.U figures I'm 43 and couldn't give a damn
You are a loser.
Collecting junk.
I woke up recently and am getting rid of my collections as I realize how stupid and how much of a loser I was. The money and space I wasted on this junk astounds me and I want to slap my younger self.

You are a loser
Grow up
As I get older I care LESS what people think
And also realize that they never cared in first place..
(PS: I don't drink or take ANY substances either ... the money is better spent on a new SH Figuarts, Hasbro or MAFEX figure ! )
Not a loser. Toys are all about fun and imagination. No matter what age.
Toy Gigante i know Ima buy the jurassic world toys from mattel this week so hype
Yep! You're on point with that
yep
Preach!
You know when you buy a Hot Wheels car in the corner it says "Ages 3 & Up", right? Well no, it should say, "Ages 3-present". How about that?
seriously, collecting toys are my anti-depressants.i collected lots of funko pops, gundam kits,ps4 collector statues, etc.and when someone says that it's too "CHILDISH"(says my cousin, some friends,my neighbor)i really don't bother.if collecting makes you happy so be it ,just be a responsible collector.Don't be a slave to other people's opinion.the best thing for me is when some visitors especially kids saw my entire collections, they be like "woooooooooahhhhh" and start pointing side by side, asking who is that, where did you buy that?,can i have that?and im a bit nervous because they might break things but luckily not.life is too short so enjoy and respect each others hobby
What makes no sense to me is why people would make fun of someones passions. If you like to collect toys or action figures as a hobby or doing for fun, then what's the big deal? The people who turned away from this channel just are haters.
Totally true, some people just want to watch the world burn.
Thank you so much, I'm happy I could be helpful!
You couldn’t have said that better, I was exactly the same way.
There so many girls who likes manga anime marvel and more
It's so true, none of those things are exclusive for boys. I know lots of girls who have the exact same interests!
yeah i like them too but not so much manga only marvel and dc and i love your collection
The butt ugly ones do
Thats a myth, most of them are the ugly ones
I would rather have my kids play with action figures than stare at an smart phone screen all day long.
QUESTION: Have you ever been called a loser for something you like or something you do? Leave your comment below!
The Josh Speaks Yes definitely in elementary school and early middle school I remember being called a loser for liking superhero movies and that was like 6 or 7 years ago but now it's the number one popular thing in terms of box office.
The Josh Speaks my sister tells me I'm a loser a lot but she is just jealous of me LOL
The Josh Speaks yes
The Josh Speaks if I get 5 likes I will ask out my crush tomorrow (on Monday) I'm so nervous josh!
I was called a loser for liking to be by myself
Collecting toys and action figures is a wonderful thing. There is absolutely no correlation between toy collecting and being a "loser".
Just like people who collect so much shoes or bags but only uses like 3 of them. Atleast figures are so pleasing to look at it brings joy to your geeky heart
I never got toys as a kid so I like playing with them now I don’t really mind it tbh
Your profile pic is the thing! Nice👍
That sucks that your mom thinks that way, hopefully she will come around and see that it's just a hobby like any other
Your mom sucks...
Toy collecting doesn't make you a loser it makes you a artist I'm somewhat a collector I'm more or less a stop motion animator
Thanks Josh this video helped me a lot 😁👍🏾
Glad to hear it!
Thanks!!
I just went to my homecoming a few weeks ago, i wouldn't recommend it.
Hey those are good questions, I'm gonna try to tackle that one soon.
Already in my mid 20s and working now, plus I have two of my most beloved toys from childhood that I have put on my shelf as a reminder of who I was and bought some RC cars(race cars and sport cars) which is one of my few hobbies
This is actually a very important video that even non collectors should see. Thank you so much.
Wes Miller Collecting Action figures and other Toys makes you Awsome.
Ignore the hate and play with those toys!
Yeah amen dude honestly collecting starwars and Marvel is the best way to not get into drugs or alcohol people who hate on us collectaers are usually the miserable ones not us.
I 100% agree with you man. Nerd life is better than boring life!
What makes soomeone a loser is actively going out of your way to shame people online for what they like when they aren't bothering anyone.
Collecting toys is no different than Collecting art.

What makes you happy and believing in yourself with set passion is all that matters.
id rather do something I love than let other people who don't know me define what I want to do or not
I used to let what people think get to me, and tbh sometimes I still do, but overall I've come to learn that if people want to judge me for collecting figures, then they can just get bent.
Just building model kits meke me so relax and feel free
HELP IM 17 AND I STILL LOVE TOYS & COLLECTIBLES. My family don’t support me 😞😞😞
I'll be 20 here in the next couple of weeks and I just got back into figure collecting.
Time to grow up son
This is why everyone needs a hobby room.
Totally agree with you there, I had no clue those celebs were into anime.
What's the name of this boxer....
Ah yes, Samuel L. Jackson

Wauw thx man , this helped alot . Thanks man forreal it makes sense now . I needed this peace to you ☮
i always thought figure collecting was so cool, but when i was in highschool i didnt think about it that much anymore which made me stop collecting since i thought i “grew” up. junior year i stumbled upon little tokyo and saw the gundam displays and i was just in awe, this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia hit me. during that time i was in a date so i didnt buy anything a week after i came back by myself and bought one. ever since then i finally grew this huge gundam collection and then i stopped again. i started hanging out with my friends more started smoking and drinking, and one day we were reminiscing and we started talking about toonami and i mentioned gundam and one of them said they were cool. so i grew the courage to say i collected them and showed them a picture of my collection. i was so nervous of what they were gonna think... but i was so happy to hear their opinion thinking that it was cool, ever since then theyve been open to talk to me about anime and stuff haha. my current girlfriend was someone i had always had a crush with because she was from a different scene, she was one of those party bad girls.. i was very embarrassed to let her in my room at first, until i did. i hit her with the i dont want you to think im a loser because i collected these but when she saw them she thought they were cool, the fact that i had a hobby and and collected something was cool for her and she was like i wish i didnt grow up too fast and threw away my bratz dolls and i felt really connected with her. honestly collecting isnt something to be ashamed of because of its a part of who you are then you arent being yourself if you let others opinions get to you. so many people i know show little signs of having some sort of toy in their room, packaged or unpackaged. if you grow up and you still like toys it doesnt really make you a loser, because there are others who have similar hobbies who think similarly like us. im 21 and i can still say to this day that im still very int gundams haha i have an IG displaying my collections and it makes me happy to see people like the content that i post, so i know im not the only one out there with this hobby. im very confident with my shelves filled with gundams. i wish others could accept themselves and not be ashamed of what they do as a hobby.
Dear Josh,
that's the first time I watch one of your videos.
I don't think to be a loser at all ;)
Keep positive and be proud of your passions,
Vincenzo
Love this video
Lots of people collect things whether it's stamps or guns or glassware, I just think it's a hobby if it makes you happy it's perfectly okay not a mental illness and it doesn't hurt anyone, Really there is a lot of bad things a person can do like drugs, alcohol or bullying people those are bad things collecting is a productive good thing.
Rock on Jhosh thanks for making this video I felt like this too.
Thanks man, glad to see I'm not alone haha
Your a very well spoken guy👍🏽
No man, collecting is passion and a form of art given to you by god
Thank you for this video .
I'm 39 and I collect Barbie dolls and I don't care what people think ,because it's my life not theirs ..
Good, she deserves a real man not a boy child
That's good because you deserve someone better and more understandinh.

I collect sideshow court of the dead and hot toys star wars, the reason we are called "loosers" is because society thinks you should do as society wants you to. Fuck that.
Hey, im 13 and i like wwe and their figures but i dont have a problem to say that i like to collect figures because for me is something that makes me happy and also if theres people that says shit to me for collecting those toys for me its better because then i will know that they are not my friends now my best friends even know what types of figures of wwe there were jakks hasbros and mattel and even one of them gaved me a figure and made me so happy even if it was a loose fig
Nice video greetings from spain
I've got a shitload of Power Rangers stuff in my closet. Most of what I have is priced for adults to buy, and not kids.
Wtf I would never throw away my figures that’s like part of my childhood besides I think most people grew up collecting
You're a cool dude to me! Love the vid! :-D
I love toys so much I made my own superhero lol
I loved the video made me feel better about collecting figures
Thanks josh this video really spoke to me
I collect action figures and statuettes I'm 41 and don't care what people think about it
I am actually planning to buy Toy Story for display for my room and I wanted to know if that makes me weird
For me, my favorite superhero is the flash so I collect a lot of flash merchandise
Awesome! I have a Flash funko pop
I think I saw it in the background of one of your videos
1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
- this means to mature spiritually
It was not talking about toys.
I collect toys and action figures, i still love my Hot Wheels! Don't let nobody interfere with ur hobby and happiness.
I can't stop collecting. I collect action figures, consoles of every brand, video games, snowglobes, random collectibles that appreciate in value 💔
I have all the time for my Anime figure collection
You're absolutely right... No girl will ever think that grown men collecting action figures is hot... You will be laughed at
@@DominiqueDeMann way to make them feel better and more confident about themself
