I once served on a jury for a murder trial. A man and his girlfriend shot and killed a taxi cab driver for a few dollars. I don't know what happened to him but she got life without parole. For a few bucks. Compared to this story, she got off easy but both are cases of a waste of a life. Many criminals aren't the brightest. They just need that next hit. It's a sad indictment on our culture that is so focused on selfishness that we forget basic moral principles.
