@Nicholas It is from Händel "Messiah - Hallelujah Chorus". Yes, it is wonderful how they used this in the background and it makes Jesus words even more powerful and touching.
In 2010 I was to undergo cancer surgery of the brain. In this I felt no fear whatsoever. @@Richbar-qe6bx Is that a suggestion that the entire world should be catholic because they know everything about God? Jesus and God are one. But there is clearly a difference. God's Word is not filled with words that they call a person just because they feel like it. There would be no truth to it then.
The magnificent ending to the most majestic depiction of our Lord Jesus Christ. Max Von Sydow commands the screen, from Baptism to Resurrection. He is supported by fine writers and filmmakers, also by a distinguished cast which includes Claude Rains, Jose Ferrer, Charlton Heston, Joanna Dunham, David McCallum, and Donald Pleasance. The American locations (Utah, Nevada, Colorado, and California) add a visual splendour unmatched by any other Biblical epic. I never tire of watching this; in fact I wish I could see the parts that were cut! Blessings to my fellow believers and filmgoers!
The music from Händel "Messiah - Hallelujah Chorus" in the background makes Jesus words even more powerful and touching. He is with us .. always, even until the end of the world. What a comfort.
They also used Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" after the raising of Lazarus in "The Greatest Story Ever Told" - I saw this on the big screen in a theater (about 7 times!) and it is the most beautiful scene in a film ever, I think -

Nescafe, I agree - Max Van Sydow's portrayal of Jesus gave me an experience of Christ and what I believe was the baptism of the Holy Spirit as I was watching the film at age 12 - As magnificent as Robert Powell's portrayal of Jesus was, and as good as Jonathan Roumie's is, Van Sydow's depiction of Christ was the most compassionate and the most moving, in my humble opinion -
@@NostalgicGamerRickOShay That’s fine, nothing sad about it. We all find the interpretation that moves and inspires us the most - in a film, painting, sculpture, whatever. On film, some prefer Robert Powell, others Jim Caviezel or Jonathan Roumie. It’s a very personal choice. Regarding faithfulness to the Bible, screenwriters face the same dilemma they would with any source material. A dramatization, by necessity, has to leave things out and make changes in order to maintain a narrative flow. As an experienced Hollywood director, George Stevens certainly knew this when he prepared “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Even in a film running three-and-a-half hours, there was only so much he could include - while maintaining the larger meaning of the main character and His message. It had to hold the interest of audience members unfamiliar with Scripture. Frankly, Stevens’s decision to film in the western United States, rather than the Holy Land, was brilliant - more majestic background!
On Good Saturday night just before we go to church for the Holy light, they show this on tv and it is so moving. But also the whole holy week they play episodes of Jesus' life on tv.
