Intel getting supported on Linux is so nice. I had to use Tytan's build from the AUR because the flatpak nor the package from Arch's own repos never gave me any of the QSV options or would fail to encode if it did show up, but once I got that custom build compiled and running, sure enough it works great and even AV1 encoding works! Mileage may vary depending on distro but Tytan's version from the AUR was what I needed to get it working on Arch.
biggest thing for me was that the av1 encoder that obs has for my a380 is unique to obs and was terrible in previous versions. got a huge upgrade here and is basically on par with the ffmpeg implementation now :D
so that's why AV1 hardware encoding wasn't available when I tried OBS on ubuntu in a Ryzen 7040 laptop. I didn't think Windows would have an advantage on OBS but I guess it makes sense
Did you say OBS 30 can replace NDI?! That is huge! I've been using OBS 27 with NDI and OBS/Teleport for a seperate webcam stream and audio channels routing, I believe the NDI webcam stream to be higher latency. Only reason I didnt wanna bother updating was plugins compatibility but I'm sure there's alternatives or updated versions for all of them. This might actually be time for me to update, as I don't really care about most new features, but if I can lower the workload on the gaming PC by removing the need for NDI, that would be great!
Yes, I am looking into setting up a remote server of some kind with SRT injest.. I want to stream AV1 via SRT to this server, pass the AV1 to RUclips, and transcode H264 to other streaming services like Twitch. I almost have a solution, I just need to get it setup. Streaming on StarLink is a painnnn.
Kinda funny that OBS still doesn't support multistream natively on the same instance. Either get a plugin (which can break on updating OBS), run multiple instances (which destroys your CPU/RAM/encoder/etc), use a restream service (which binds you, and sometimes your wallet or personal info, to yet another company), or configure your own server to rebrodcast your RTMP stream (which not everyone has the resources and know-how to do so). And aside from restream services, and depending on where you host your personal restream server, you need n times more upload bandwidth on your home network just to multistream. Kind of a problem, especially in North America where they tend to give lower upload speeds than download speeds on most private internet plans, or in locations where it's hard enough to even get a fast enough internet connection for a single upload stream at 1Mbps or less, lol. (This point isn't OBS' issue though, just a different nitpick I had). So glad that OBS introduced Safe Mode though, that's a life saver.
@@EposVox fair, I'm not saying that plugins are inherently bad, just wish things didn't crash so frequently. But then again, I even got blue screens before when booting up my PC, so if one thing didn't crash, something else probably would, lol
I've seen a few others say that OBS should natively integrate multi-streaming. NGL, it'd be nice to connect to RUclips and Twitch at the same time and have all of the features working at once. I have found a work around (manual dock configuration), but a more elegant solution would be nice.
@@TheXev true, the stream monitors and chat integrations are very nice, would like a way to have them up for all streaming platforms I'd sign into. Or maybe a combined chat, but web apps for combining chat already exist.
Hello to all the members! I am new to this community and am seeking some answers. I already have a PC built with an i7-12700K processor and an RTX 3090, but I want to record using OBS primarily and possibly stream later on. However, when I currently record with OBS, even with a 25000 bitrate using NVENC H.264, the quality is not satisfactory. I've tried numerous settings, but unfortunately, I haven't achieved the desired quality while maintaining smooth gameplay. So, I am considering three options: Option 1: Work around with my current setup. Option 2: Purchase an RTX 40 series GPU for AV1 encoding. Option 3: Buy an Intel A380 as a second GPU in my build specifically for recording gameplay. I appreciate any advice or suggestions you may have on improving my recording and streaming setup.
So for recording use cqp instead of cbr and in the advanced tab give obs high priority or above normal. Also make sure admin mode is on always ( may forget about this).
i keep getting the "did not close properly launch in safe mode?" error every time i shutdown my computer with obs running and its really getting on my nerves any1 got a clue how to prevent this without effecting the debugging capability of that feature?
7:44 on Arch linux I had to run a command in the terminal. Made a few audio sinks 1 for a game or application and the other for discord/voice chat, that both played into my audio output device. Then I noticed later they weren't permanent 😂 I gonna type in those commands again 😭 A interesting addition with this method is that I can have the audio not play into my output device. Can't really think off much a use case... I guess if you want to play music and not hear it for some reason. Also if you have multiple audio outout devices you could have something play in one but not the other.
Been a fan for a long time and I really enjoy the retro aesthetic. With that being said, I'm so glad this video is in 16:9. Both me and my OLED thank you lol
Great video as always. 👊💪. I have a question. I'm on the fence to upgrade GPU to either rx7900xt or rtx4070ti for the use of streaming my ps5 through streamlabsOBS and editing videos on premiere pro. Which one would you choose? I'm absolutely lost to which one to pick..hah. my cpu is 5950x my GPU is currently a 1660ti
I am not sure if Nvidia is better for premiere pro. If this is purely a streaming PC, get something cheaper like a 4060 even if it's bad value, it's the cheapest nvidia av1 encoder. If you also want to game on this PC, get the 7900XT as you will need the extra vram for OBS scenes + the game
@@VideogamesAsArt thanks for the reply. I only stream my PS5 from my capture card on the PC from streamlabs OBS. And the 1660ti that I currently have seems to be doing well on that front. But when I start doing prem pro stuff it starts to show how underpowered it is. Plus I do want to be ready to start streaming AV1. If the rumours are true of the RTC4080super being £900 ish. @@EposVox Thank you for the reply. I might be hyperbolizing a little because it put a hiccup in my work flow but what happens for me in the beta and in the release version is, I can remux a series of recordings just fine the first time but if I need to do it again while in the same instance, the option to add another file is gone. I have to restart OBS to remux any new files. Example: Let's say I open OBS run a few recordings. Let's go with 3 recordings while in the same instance. I go to remux them and remux the first 2 successfully but realize I forgot to remux recording number 3. If I go back in to Remux recordings, I can see where I succussfully remuxed records 1 and 2 but there isn't a bar for me to select a new file to remux. Normally there is a blank row under the already remuxed files so you can select additional files. That is gone for me unless I restart OBS. I'm curious if this is just a me problem or not but I ran into the same problem with the Beta Version and the Release version of 30. 29.1.3 works just fine for me still.
