Telling people to upscale to 1440p is the best advice you could give. That said, I feel like most RUclips streamers don't do this extra step and it's one of the biggest reasons RUclips live isn't as popular as other platforms as of now

Great summary! A more techy option, if you have a server with some bandwidth/CPU to spare, there's an RTMP patch for NGINX you can also use for restreaming. Given that low end VPS's cost about $5/mo, it's only really cost effective if you have 3+ destinations, or if the server does something else for you (VPN, Bitwarden, etc). That said it's also worth looking at restreaming if your stream to glitches out. I found using my NGINX relay gave me a much more stable connection, likely because the relay was in the same city as the Twitch ingest server (i.e. lower latency retry/confirm packets). Fun stuff. 😋

dunno if this is a good fix, but if you set up a youtube livestream waiting room, in the live streaming dashboard you can set up the stream key to be 1440p. i think this upscales it on youtube's end, so your pc doesn't have to upscale it. could be wrong tho. but i've been using this little trick since october of 2021, and the encoding is way better

For an even better way to stream to multiple places as well as recording, use a old laptop (Intel 7th gen or higher) and use an RTMP server service combined with OBS and you do whatever you want to as many targets you want.

twitter feature a broadcast system and you can use an hashtag (in the title of the stream) to get viewers who search this hashtag. same way you can mention related companies to the stream and be discoverable this way. i heard that twitter was working on a youtube clone, but still their broadcast system offers much more discoverability than any other streaming platform, excepted rumble.

19:49 i'm wondering why you're upscaling the canvas entirely instead of just the output stream under settings/output/streaming/streaming settings/rescale output. is it because that setting for some reason doesn't apply a decent upscaling filter? i'm wondering because in case you're both streaming and recording at the same time, i assume that both would be upscaled, which i personally wouldn't like to see being done for the recording.

I just tried aircast for twitch and youtube and used the free trial for the 8 dollar subscription. And used the RTMPS settings and it was laggy af. Will try restream tomorrow but I am not hopeful. I only have 20 upload in my whole house and I live with my parents and even still youtube was laggy af. will keep yall updated

To gwt vb09 fpr youtube we don't need to upscale de output to 1440p, we just need to use HEVC and youtube will give us vp09, i test it, but only for youtube.
Great video! This was very helpful! Would be nice if you could make a video of streaming with mobilephone and GoPro or some other device using RTMP. And easiest way to make your own desktop PC as RTMP server. Not a lot good videos about this.

Not saying anyone's been stopped for this, but the new TOS from Twitch says you can't push higher quality outside of twitch. So if you're streaming to Twitch and following their TOS, you're not going to be able to stream 1440p to YT while streaming 1080p to Twitch. If you don't mind breaking TOS then do whatever you like. Edit: Also showing a combined platform chat would break the ToS for Twitch if that's something you're worried about. Lastly - streaming with RUclips are your primary setting and Twitch as a target from the plugin will not allow the Twitch VoD Track to work, meaning you need to limit your audio to copyright free music. If you use Twitch as the primary, you can not only use VoD Track, but you can set it up so RUclips/Kick/Etc do not recieve the live music.
That rule is incredibly vague and their own clarification specifies “shrinking of or otherwise degrading the video quality on twitch” - since you’re still streaming the best quality twitch supports, it would be very difficult to argue that this caveat is being broken. Regardless, they can’t actually enforce that. Who’s going to monitor the off-site quality of all these streamers? Do your best to follow rules in a way that makes sense and looks out for you, but I cannot imagine anyone adhering to that rule in such a way.
The only thing not great for restream combined chat is that it doesn't tell you about your activity feed, hype trains, etc. Much easier for me to just have separate chats for Twitch and RUclips.
Awesome video, Question. I multistream to RUclips/Kick/Twitch. RUclips is the only platform that goes red in OBS. It drops frames like crazy all the time and I constantly have to end and restart the YT stream as a result. The bitrate is set to 15000kb, I have 65000kb available to me and YT is the only one that gives me trouble. I switch the primary and backup ingest servers but the issue persists. The other two streams are flawless and have no issues. RUclips is the main platform via OBS settings while the other two are configured via multiple output. Is there a setting I need to change for YT streams? No matter what I do, YT always gives me trouble while the other platforms are trouble-free.

I'm confused it seems to me the whole video assumes you're streaming in 1080p and so should upscale to 1440p for youtube but what if you're streaming in 1440p and therefore downscaling for twitch and maintaining for youtube? I don't know if you had this issue or maybe someone but since I start multistream last week ( having my youtube as my main and twitch as my second one on rtmp plugin, in my VODS on twitch it shows I'm streaming at 1440p with is what I use on youtube. My canvas is 1080p and main output 1440p and on rtmp for twitch is set to 1080p. Is this may be a bug or if you know any idea let me know I really appreciate it 😁😁
Not to spill the beans or anything but it isn't that hard to rent a vps for like $5 a month and then use Nginx and RTMP to restream through it. Just takes a little bit of effort and you don't need a crazy connection or video processing, but what do I know lol.
If I use NVENC I’m limited to 5 encodes that the consumer GPUs have right? So I could only multi stream to 5 places and have to use CPU encoding or another gpu for the 6th and so on?

Not sure if this multicast OBS Plugin needs to reencode the streams to every platform it is sending the data to, but there is also a way to multistream with NGINX. That avoids encoding for multiple platforms, but it has its limitations.
Very informational video but what about Kick (i know its meh but why not if nothing to loose now)? I know there is so many options and cant cover them all. Appreciate for RUclips part, how many streaming sites rtx4000 cards could handle? Multistream services gonna have a field day now. Also chat is gonna get more complicated, at the start atleast. Is there a way to combine chats into Restream chat (including youtube chat), while using the OBS to RUclips + Restream plugin? I'm Not sure what happens if I go live to YT through OBS and Restream at the same time, which is how I would try to combine the chats normally.
Been multi casting for a while, 4070ti is a streaming monster and allows you to max out obs settings in 4k with little performance loss in game. Recently I have wanted to stream HDR content to RUclips only and each test fails due to network dropped frames. Obs when streaming in hdr frequently sits at 0Mbps while sdr sits at 52Mbps. I assume there is an issue with the latest obs version and hdr youtube streaming

I am an SLOBS power user, and one of the main drawbacks to your point is the inability to set custom encoding endpoints for YT & Twitch. by default, you need to more or less use Twitch's 1080/6000 bit-rate settings as a result. I would love a way to continue leveraging SLOBS while creating the ability to create dual-custom encoding setups
I could get Twitch working without adding the stream key at the end of the URL chain. If I had the stream key in there it wouldn't work. It would work with it being in the "stream key" section only.

Eventhough OBS is saying Twitch is connected and streaming, it doesn't show on my Twitch channel there. I'm still offline. RUclips works perfect (as direct Output in OBS).

Yeah, I had to double check my stream vod on RUclips, since I didn't recall seeing a watermark anywhere. Sure enough, no watermark that I could see.

Restreamer is also a good software for your VPS, when you don't want to configure nginx.
I used restream free plan and could stream in 1080p without any watermark. You also get a combined chat for OBS.
Sadly twitch is against combined chat, 1 of the requests they make to streamers casting to multiple sites is to keep twitch chat separate

Getting VP9 doesn’t make your streams higher quality, the higher bitrates they give to 1440p/4k streams does

The latest RTMP plugin installer appears to have a virus according to Windows and Malwarebytes, previous version seems clean however
which version? cuz the previous version from the current latest vesrsion also gets flagged by virus total for 15/72 antivirus programs..

I am not having luck getting the OBS multistream plugin to work. I tried to auto and manually putting the files in and its not detecting it.
i used your obs link for the multiple outputs, followed your steps, and downloaded at github and my computer registered the download as MALWARE
Happens a lot with OBS plugins, they often aren't signed executables. You can just download the zip instead of the installer

Question. I multistream to RUclips/Kick/Twitch. RUclips is the only platform that goes red in OBS. It drops frames like crazy all the time and I constantly have to end and restart the YT stream as a result.
The bitrate is set to 15000kb, I have 65000kb available to me and YT is the only one that gives me trouble. I switch the primary and backup ingest servers but the issue persists. The other two streams are flawless and have no issues. RUclips is the main platform via OBS settings while the other two are configured via multiple output.
Is there a setting I need to change for YT streams? No matter what I do, YT always gives me trouble while the other platforms are trouble-free.

I'm confused it seems to me the whole video assumes you're streaming in 1080p and so should upscale to 1440p for youtube but what if you're streaming in 1440p and therefore downscaling for twitch and maintaining for youtube? Just wondering if there's something I'm missing about what I should do. Great video and thank you for introducing me to rmtp

okay just baited a bit by the segments that say to upscale from 1080 for youtube. But i think that's for people streaming in 1080
Yes I'm saying if you're only capturing 1080 you should still upscale to 1440p for RUclips to get better quality.

You can still choose an audio track for Twitch in the multi RTMP plugin
What bitrates do you recommend to stream HQ to RUclips and 6000 bit rate to twitch. I only have 40 upload speed. Dual pc streaming both pc’s have 40 series nvidia gpus

Hey Andie thank you this video really help me a lot setting up my multistream setup😁😁. I don't know if you had this issue or maybe someone but since I start multistream last week ( having my youtube as my main and twitch as my second one on rtmp plugin, in my VODS on twitch it shows I'm streaming at 1440p with is what I use on youtube. My canvas is 1080p and main output 1440p and on rtmp for twitch is set to 1080p. Is this may be a bug or if you know any idea let me know I really appreciate it 😁😁
Not to spill the beans or anything but it isn't that hard to rent a vps for like $5 a month and then use Nginx and RTMP to restream through it. Just takes a little bit of effort and you don't need a crazy connection or video processing, but what do I know lol.
My main problem with this setup is that the twitch chat latency is worse than if twitch was set as the main setup. Is there anyway to fix this?

If I use NVENC I’m limited to 5 encodes that the consumer GPUs have right? So I could only multi stream to 5 places and have to use CPU encoding or another gpu for the 6th and so on?
Correct if you're using completely different settings for each - but most services can use the same encoder session
@@EposVox oh! That’s nice. I thought that even using the same setting it would be needed to produce a new feed for each. But if I send a specific scene for each service but with the same settings? Then the cap applies?

Not sure if this multicast OBS Plugin needs to reencode the streams to every platform it is sending the data to, but there is also a way to multistream with NGINX. That avoids encoding for multiple platforms, but it has its limitations.
Very informational video but what about Kick (i know its meh but why not if nothing to loose now)? I know there is so many options and cant cover them all. Appreciate for RUclips part, how many streaming sites rtx4000 cards could handle? Multistream services gonna have a field day now. Also chat is gonna get more complicated, at the start atleast. Excited regardless as more updates, tools and tutorials will come out in near future.
What is the drop threshold setting? Defaulted to 700. What does this apply to?

Is there a way to combine chats into Restream chat (including youtube chat), while using the OBS to RUclips + Restream plugin? I'm Not sure what happens if I go live to YT through OBS and Restream at the same time, which is how I would try to combine the chats normally.

Been multi casting for a while, 4070ti is a streaming monster and allows you to max out obs settings in 4k with little performance loss in game.
Recently I have wanted to stream HDR content to RUclips only and each test fails due to network dropped frames.
Obs when streaming in hdr frequently sits at 0Mbps while sdr sits at 52Mbps.
I assume there is an issue with the latest obs version and hdr youtube streaming
The HLS protocol (needed for HDR) just doesn't work well with some internet connections.
Really cool guide, I just cannot bring the rtmp plugin to work. OBS just won't recognize it.

Have you every played around with using an OBS NDI output with the NDI tools webcam utility to make a virtual cam and virtual mic come out of OBS at the same time?
There is any reason why you use 59.97, instead of 60 on fps?
If I stream to one site I barely lose any frames at all. 2 sites though causes pretty big fps drops.

@Eposvox Is there any way that this custom OBS plug-in can interoperate with SLOBS? I am an SLOBS power user, and one of the main drawbacks to your point is the inability to set custom encoding endpoints for YT & Twitch. by default, you need to more or less use Twitch's 1080/6000 bit-rate settings as a result. I would love a way to continue leveraging SLOBS while creating the ability to create dual-custom encoding setups

I could get Twitch working without adding the stream key at the end of the URL chain. If I had the stream key in there it wouldn't work. It would work with it being in the "stream key" section only.

Eventhough OBS is saying Twitch is connected and streaming, it doesn't show on my Twitch channel there. I'm still offline. RUclips works perfect (as direct Output in OBS).
I tried the plug in and it's bugging every time. (one platform not showing the stream). Tired of fixing issues all the time, so I got restream. Peace of mind..
