My teacher did the art for Wanderlust so regardless of is uselessness I'll still love it
Wow, that’s awesome.
@Brendon The hell's your problem?
They could've made Maddening Wind more interesting if it had "...deals 1 damage to that player for each Upkeep counter on Maddening Wind."
Sure, it's still not a green ability, but at least hints towards a strategy.
2G enchant creature. Cumulative upkeep G. Place two pain counters on enchanted creature. For each G paid for cumulative upkeep, place an additional pain counter on enchanted creature. On enchanted creatures controllers beginning of upkeep, that player takes damage equal to the number of pain counters.
I LOVE pacifism!!! It was the first aura I played well. It's just so fun for you and so annoying for my opponent. Even though there's better cards, pacifism will always have a place in my heart
Looks like "Insolence" can be used to counter enemies mana dorks, cause their controller for sure will tap them a lot. Its still not quite useful, but its better then nothing.
I used to love to slap it on Tim's. Go ahead and ping me again a-hole!
So many of these garbage cards have amazing art, and that makes me sad. I love the art on wanderlust, I'd get a playmat of that, but my god is that card terrible.
Nick Larocco Some of them have good names too. Sad
Part 3: Curses
i hope all of them make the list
Please don't ahahaha this is gonna be awful
Only 28 curses have been printed to date.
Ivan Spinelli So? He did a Phyrexian Mana list
Still waiting for Top 10 Best Banding
I'd say insolence is worse than insubordination. If your opponent is on the defense, insubordination will force them to either be down a blocker, or take 2 every turn. Whereas insubordination they can leave it back if they're on the defense with no downsides, and if they do want to attack they probably don't care too much about the 2 damage. So the only time it's useful is if you're racing and also the enchanted creature can't block your stuff...and even then it's just 2 damage a turn at best.
I always love the ridiculous costs on certain older cards. Parasitic Bond could literally cost just "B" and it would still be awful. Why? I know that Wizards prints bad cards so that the good ones are obvious (a shoddy explanation to say the least), but this is just...so bad. For 4 mana, it could autokill another creature on the opponent's board (EtB) and it would still only be okay. Also, I would actually say that Insubordination is probably a better card than some of the ones you had lower on the list. There are a few defenders that actually see play, and are kept in the deck even when not facing aggro (such as Wall of Omens, Wall of Blossoms, or Carven Caryatid). This actually gives Insubordination the opportunity to deal out some actual damage. It's still not a "good" card, but for that reason I don't see it as one of the worst (especially since Defender decks are a decent budget option that sees a fair amount of casual play). Also...I'd kind of like to add Maddening Wind to a casual counters deck with Power Conduit, removing the counter between the two triggers of adding the counter, then paying the cost. This does actually convert Maddening Wind into a sort of battery with an upside. It's jank as hell, but it's also funny as hell.
Thought of this when I saw #1. A way to make Maddening Wind better. Not good. It'd still be pretty useless, but not as bad. Change it from two damage to X damage. X is equal to age counters.
So like festering wound, but still not as good.
Love how I can watch the last video, then refresh and see this!
What if you attach Insubordination to a creature with Defender? I know, I know, you won’t always be faced with Defender creatures, but that creature cannot attack you therefore damage is dealt.
My first thought when I saw the card: this goes on a defender :)
Tangle Kelp was tap target creature, it doesn't untap. But they deemed it correctly too good, then the splurge happened :P
I play 4 maddening wind's in my legacy deck👌🏻
luke adamek A masochist, huh?
good job good sir
But why?
why?
That sounds like an AIR-headed move.
These make stab wound look like a mythic rare
You are the man Nizzahon.
Back in the day, I killed many a player with Wanderlust. It's at it's best when an opponent has a crippled creature (i.e. one that's been pacified). But, green has much better direct damage options nowadays.
Damn I love your Insight on the"worst cars lists" because you always make me laugh!!!
The art on mind whip is incredible. Between the art and the ideas of cards I feel like there was more flavor back in the day even though the stories are all more carefully crafted nowadays.
Though Stab Wound is an aura I like using it even if it doesn't kill the creature most times (which you don't want to anyway with it), especially on a commander that can survive it and makes his power 1 or less, the opponent would have to sit there and keep it in play while damaging itself or sac it somehow which will get rid of the commander plus put the commander tax on it, and if you add an aura of "can't attack or block" or Frogify for instance it's just insult to injury, it's a niche play but I really like it, it puts pressure on the opponent to do something about it or slowly die from it or lose the commander, it's a fun gimmick, at least for me
Ice age was such a bad set. And I have so many ice age cards...
This really gives me the urge to make an all damage auras and fogs deck lol. It'd be so funny when it actually works. But if they have any way to sacrifice creatures it's doomed.
I had a very passive life deck long ago. I recall a long night where my table opponent took like 13 damage from Wanderlust before dying.
1:26 Skipperino
Turn 1 maddening wind on turn 1 is like an unblock able, hex proof 2/2 that just costs you all your mana for the rest of the fame right? Right??
Insolence has a use it’s called combo stop. If a creature is being tapped repeatedly on your opponents board and not for attacking mind you but for specific combo. That equals a lot of damage.
I am glad Mana Chains didnt make the list. I know its not that good but I find it a laugh to play.
How to make Wanderlust great: BBB Sabahphilia (Sabah, arabic: phantom). Enchant Creature. When Sabahphilia enchants a creature, that creature phases out immediately and cannot phase in for the remainder of the game. Sabahphilia then ceases to be an enchantment and becomes a 5/5 black Djinn Creature named Juzam Djinn with "this creature deals 1 damage to controller during their upkeep".
Welp. I guess I'm building a Maddening Wind Deck!
A lot of them have good artwork.
That would be a good idea for your next video: Top 10 worst cards with great artwork.
I want to nominate Blessed Wine and Vedrane of Sengir.
okey, on the tangle kelp one I have an idea of how a card like that could easily work very well
name: need of rest (not the best name it could have, I thought of something like "unrest", but maybe that could fit a different kind of card better haha)
cost: 1 blue or two of any other color
type: enchantment - aura
effecfs:
-flash - you may cast this spell any time you could cast an instant
- this spell cannot be countered
- when this spell is casted, and every time enchanted creature is tapped, enchanted creature doesnt untap during it's controller's next untap step
I play merseine in a casual deck, it works good in combination with twiddle on big creatues especially if the got cheated in.
I remember really being afraid of Wanderlust back in the Alpha/Dark/Legends days. My own creatures damaging me felt so powerful! Ah, memories of simpler times.
You use them to damage yourself and then Mirror Universe it up xDD but Lich/City of Brass are easier and better ways to do so
Tangle kelp seems pretty good. It taps a creature as a sorcery with an extra effect. No comparison to mamouth harness
Eh, saying it is "pretty good" is a huge stress. What it does is simply not worth a card, You can make an argument that it is better than the others on this list, but you have no leg to stand on when your argument is that it is "pretty good"
Nizzahon Magic if it was a sorcery tap a creature it would be bad yes. But a tap a creature as a sorcery + an extra effect seems decent is all im saying
Shadow Gamer Haha at least you downgraded your argument to "seems decent."
Nizzahon Magic i meant pretty good compared to two black deal two damage each upkeep or thee manna + cummulative upkeep
Fatal Mutation has really cool flavor IMO
The name, it fits in with the "black theme" and even more specifically the "Cabal theme" of death and decay, the art is gruesome and perfectly depicts some creature that gets killed suddenly during transformation, I like the flavor text (again, very "Cabalist"), and it almost looks like a cool sideboard for countering big morph creatures.
ofc Black has about 10000 better removal options.
I love Insolence. It has potential with something like Freed From the Real. But, it's just so terrible that it's unusable. The rest of the auras are indeed useless.
also devoted druid combo
BRB, adding some of these to my downside/drawback cube lol
Now what about Auras that are potentially useful on both your creatures and opponent's creatures? Ok, there might not be ten of them, but there are at least a few. There are a number of them that give +X/-X (Boon of Emrakul, Maggot Therapy) that while generally usable as removal can theoretically be used to push through lethal on a big evasive creature, as well as Freed from the Real which you can use similar to Thirst (Pay U during upkeep to keep creature tapped down), you put it on your own guys with tap effects to untap them for U.
Insolence's art is soo cool.
Inc Maddening Wind price spike because it's "an all-star in Ice Age block constructed and long overdue for a buyout"
Love the art on mind whip
Heh, insolence on goblin sharpshooter :D
Mind Whip seems like it would be a good budget card in Edh
I used to play insubordination :( I know now that it is insanely bad I was really hoping not to see that card. Great video as always
I think the OP didn’t realize you play that on your opponent’s mana dorks, to force removal by combat
#2 is not that bad, it is essentially a "Tap target creature" as sorcery with an extra effect of having it attack only half the time.
Yeah considering the price, it seems fine
I know how to kind of...fix Fatal Mutation. Just change its text to "Enchanted face-down creature gets -2/-2." It's still too narrow to be good, or even playable, but at least it would kill morphs 9/10 times you'd actually play it. That one that causes the enchanted creature to deal 2 whenever it's tapped might actually be okay if used in conjunction with a repeatable tap effect...essentially turning your Icy Manipulator into a Shock-on-a-Stick. Also, Maddening Wind is hilarious. I'd rather cast Scornful Egotist at cost. With that cumulative upkeep, the only way to make it passable would be to set its cost at 0...which would make it playable in Enchantress.
Cumulative Upkeep just alway breaks a cards back. If it is a cost and not braid of fire.
Combo with staff of domination and insolence with infinite mana like a elf deck with elvish arch druid
I'd add 'Backfire' to this list. U, when enchanted creature deals damage to you, it deals that much damage to that creature's controller. It would be somewhat useful if damage still used the stack, so they'd take the damage first and couldn't just kill you to avoid the damage.
number 4 would combo (sort of) with something that can kill attacking or taped creatures.
The best Auras are the ones that target the opponent XD.
(I love Curses XD)
it certainly is a maddening wind
Personally, I think Insubordination is better than Insolence. Insubordination can at least shove a creature into a bad attack, making it very bad removal at times. Maybe even bad removal that managed a bit of damage.
Insolence offers the creature holder complete control over the choice to take damage or attack. Also, does absolutely nothing if the creature manages Vigilance. It's truly terrible.
But, that's nitpicking. Both are close on the list, and both are quite bad.
I want to see a Top 10 Non-Pumping Aura list.
Junk time would be an insolence and twiddle ect deck to tap the creature 10 times to kill your opponent
Mind Whip would be decent if it cost half that to cast.
TOP 10 VINTAGE CARDS! PLEASE MAGIC!
Drew Armstrong, The Glorious Lobster Emperor Power 9 plus Force of Will and there you go.
@@darkmatter32x nope. Not at all.
1. Ancestral
2. Lotus
3. Workshop/Academy/Bazaar
4. Mox Sapphire/Jet/Ruby
5. Time Walk
6. Mox Emerald/Pearl/Sol Ring/Mana Vault/Mana Crypt
7. Trop, Volc, Tundra, Usea
8. Time Vault
9. Oath of Druids/Paradoxical Outcome/Monastery Mentor
10. Library of Alexandria
I would play mind whip for 2 or less mana
I'm here, 2 years later, to tell you the secret of Wanderlust. Wanderlust is great in early game of Shandalar video game because your computer opponents have 6 life total there. Otherwise this card is terrible.
Updated 10 best and worst Planeswalkers next
Love it!
What's the flavor of Mammoth Harness? Why would a mammoth need to have its ability to fly removed?
please call the honorable mentions of the 'worst cards' series horrible mentions :P
Im sure this is pretty useless but im gonna say it anyway just in case.
What if you played Insubordination with Insolence to get the opponent into a predicament? Or even Pacify to ensure the damage?
For #5 & #4 why not just put them both in a Rakdos commander so that way not only can you bump up their damage output (Furnace of Rath/Wound Reflection/etc) and make them get punished either way if they use a creature or don't by using both auras at same time?
MY GOD this video is hard to watch. Sooo many BAD cards. Love your content, in fact, it is the first I do when I wake up.
i run a gelgori deck with Sinister Possession [B] enchant creature Whenever enchanted creature attacks or blocks, it's controller loses 2 life. most times I play it I get a little value sometimes its worth it, what your opinion should I nix this aura or should I keep it , i am asking becouse its a damaging aura
Auras almost always face the same issue of being a 2 for 1. I wish Wizards of the clan would print more recursive auras like Rancor or ones that replace themselves like cardouche of knowledge.
Valentino Reid I friggin love Rancor.
...or more Totem Armors at the very least (even if still vulnerable to bounce & exile).
It would have to be in a different color besides green or white. I know maybe a red enchantment that actually does something interesting
Valentino Reid I'd like that. Boros auras would be cool, without having to rely mostly on white
Watch as next morning you will go on edhrec and their are like 40 decks running it just to bully you
All these worse One Thousand Lashes
can i see an top 10 cummon?
The last time if I came this early my girlfriend was very unhappy.
insolence isn't terrible. counters devoted druid or other infinite combos
Yeah, really badly.
true
Defensive Stance didn't make this list either?
It almost did, it was like #11
kind of a lazy list using 6 slots for damaging auras and 2 slots for tap-down effects
That's not lazy. Cards that do more than that are all reasonable, least for like Limited.
i like mersiene...
Pretty boring that over half of these are just "deal damage to your opponent". You're usually pretty good at lobbing similar cards together. Think you should have done that here to keep the list more interesting.
If you play maddening wins on your opponents creature, wont they have to pay the cumulative upkeep
No. You still control it. Even of They did, they would just not pay it.
Nizzahon Magic, thanks
