(RIP), I loved the rhythm without even understanding the words, but later I gradually understood the words, and we spent a long time playing these tunes, not even talking, just listening, enjoying praise and worship, our hearts tapping into the spiritual music for hours nonend. It wasn't the Democrats, it was capitalism and the propagation of "contemporary gospel" starting with Kirk Franklin. That has suckered the soul out of gospel music. Otherwise, don't believe the hype about black men not being in the church. It's the Republicans and the white church that has seen a decline in recent years.

About 15 years ago I was in a Dollar General in SC and they were playing this kind of music overhead and I didn't want to leave.

I went to every record store in Houston during the 80s and 90s to find their albums. I love their music.
