    Really interesting video. I think I've gotten crew kills on the 3-crew rebel ships from repairs in 2 rooms finishing at the same time and the crew who wants to be pilot just happening to be in the teleporter at the same time as the crew who actually wants to teleport.

      Thanks! Crew can't just be "passing through" the teleporter room, they must be assigned to a tile in the room. So I think something else was going on in your example. But also there are a lot of weird behaviours with the AI!

      @@mikehopley really interesting point. I think in that instance I had mind control so perhaps something else was going on

    very instructive. Is there a way to deal with rockmen in those situations as well?

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  Год назад +5

      Rockmen can be tougher to get crew kills on -- extra health, not hurt by fire, put out fires quickly. O2 kills work fine on them. However, a lot of these situations in the video were very tight on hull, so many of them won't be possible with Rock crew.

    Hey, you got any tips on how to deal with combat drones when running the Stealth B? Try as I might they keep getting the best of me

      ftl-ships-guide.netlify.app/stealth-b/ The main thing is watching where they are aiming, and only cloaking if they target weapons or cloak. Otherwise you normally want to save your cloak for the enemy weapons.

    Have you ever encountered enemies simply unwilling to teleport over? I ran into a mantis ship with 3 crew, and after their first or second boarding, they settled at their stations permanently. I was at full oxygen. Luring the engi to the teleporter by hitting it didn't inspire him to throw down. Felt like they knew I just watched this video.

      Good question. Regular boarding enemies use the "sabotage" AI, which means they board & retreat, and they only board twice. Event boarders and the Flagship use the "invasion" AI, which is super-aggressive and just keeps sending more crew over. Note that event boarders keep their aggressive AI even if they are cloned by the enemy ship!

    The oxygen method probably is a dead end with a level 2 medbay. I don't think even your Artemis can allow a crew kill in that case.

    • @alex_zetsu
      @alex_zetsu Год назад +1

      Wait maybe the Oxygen kill is valid. One damage into O2. Then one damage into shields before he finishes repairs. If oxygen is disabled, 2 damage into shields and then 1 more once it becomes partially repaired but if it's not, then 1 into shields while he's there, 1 into oxygen, and then 2 into shields. By the time the shields finishes repairs, he will return to the Medbay, and then aim for the medbay. Use an Artemis if you miss the last shot.

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  Год назад +5

      @@alex_zetsu Oh that's a nice technique and easy to forget! Just also have to remember that it only works up until 25% O2. Below that, they will repair O2 as the highest priority.

    • @alex_zetsu
      @alex_zetsu Год назад +1

      @@mikehopley Wait I thought shields had priority over anything when repairing.

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  Год назад +4

      @@alex_zetsu Normally yes, but not when the ship has < 25% oxygen. Then O2 takes priority. There might also be some other cases.

    I don't see why you couldn't've gotten the kill on the first example with no fires.
    Each laser shot is 15 damage, they have enough hull to survive 2 damage, and the crew is guaranteed to go the medbay with 25 HP and 0 evasion, doesn't this guarantee a 5 HP window where they can be killed? good timing should easily bridge that gap I feel like. Doesn't an lvl 1 medbay only do 7Hp per second? there's not a full second window between the first laser and the last laser hitting, I feel the math has them dead in this scenario

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  Год назад

      Are you talking about the situation at 6:37 in the video? I don't understand your idea. I can't shoot 2 shots of the Burst 2 at the O2 room and the last shot at medbay -- that targeting is not possible. Remember that second laser weapon was just for demo purposes. If you have multiple weapons then yes, you can potentially snipe them as they run to the medbay, though the window for 1 hull damage is pretty tight. With the starting weapons here, you have to spend an Artemis anyway, so might as well just kill them in O2 without needing any fancy timing.

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  Год назад

      Oh wait, maybe you are talking about targeting that last crew directly? That's exactly what I do at 9:45. You can snipe them running to the medbay if needed. You can't necessarily do that by targeting them in piloting, because once everything on their ship is fixed they will immediately run to the medbay, even on 99 health.
