Really liked this quieter episode. Really warmed to Tech. I also liked how they showed Hunter's senses a lot more explicitly - it's a power I often forget he has.
Tech is a really relatable character for many autistic people. He can be extremely articulate and he's incredibly smart and always focused on the task at hand, but his mind is so heavily focused on data and analytics that he can't always interpret others complex emotions and struggles with social interaction. He states things as they are without considering the way people may react, and doesn't necessarily understand when they do, which is why Hunter and Wrecker have to point out to him that he came off as insensitive and tell him to go and make amends with Omega, and I love when he explains to Omega that just because he processes emotions differently, doesn't mean he doesn't feel any less.
Yeah I think this is an excellent way of handling a character like this. His scene with Omega was great. I have a friend with high functioning autism, and sometimes he can be very matter of fact & seem non emotional, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have emotions or doesn't care. Tech's immediate dive into the seemingly bottomless pit after Omega showed that. Completely illogical thing to do, but he did it anyway because he cares.
I think the Bad Batch's break-off with Cid kind of hints at how they will quit being mercenaries and join Rex and Echo to protect the Clones from the Empire.
i really hope so. fuck Cid tbh, her missions are the boring part of the show. time to progress the show and bring the team back to more important stuff like helping the other clones!
That is some good insight. I will add that Crosshair will join them once he realizes the Empire is going to take the Clones out, or perhaps after they start taking them out.
I have to say I enjoyed this episode alot more than I thought I would. This episode showed us that Hunter isn't always the one to have emotional talks with Omega and the dialogue between her and Tech was really nice, loved how he compared Echo leaving to Crosshair. But yeah, I'm so tired of Cid's "you boys can handle it" and "not my problem" attitude as it's not really going anywhere and she still has yet to show some compassion for the batch.
I'm just waiting on the inevitable point that Cid will have to decide on helping the batch or not. I have a feeling Cid isn't making it out of season 2.
My favourite scene was where Tech jumped in after Omega, into the unknown. For all he knew, Omega had just died, but he followed her immediately. That’s what you do for family.
I don't think this was really a filler episode. I think this episode begins something with the Bad Batch and Cid. We've been told Cid isn't to be trusted and it's starting to really show. She sends them on a job that I believe she knew was a dead end and then when they need to get off, she hesitates to help until she gives in. For such valuable employees, Cid doesn't care much for the squad. I believe this will finally have the Bad Batch decide to cut loose from Cid and go hunt down Echo and Rex to join the growing Clone Rebellion. They need to break away from her and move onto bigger and better things than these side jobs constantly; especially when almost every time it goes wrong. As for the rest of the episode, I generally really enjoyed it. It had some really nice, solid character development for Tech and Omega. The bonding they have is pretty good and I do like how Tech is growing. He's usually very calculating and straightforward like a droid. In the cave though, we get to see some of that human side to him. Omega herself was good in the episode and she does continue to grow. This episode may be filler to some, but if it is it's the best filler episode of the series.
Now that Echo has joined up with Rex, I can't help but think they will connect him as an integral part of the rebellion and end up naming a certain base after him.
I liked that most of the problems they faced were caused by their inability to work together and communicate. If Wrecker had communicated that he couldn't see the ship and watch the entrance they could have made a better plan from the beginning If tech and wrecker hadn't been being petty Wrecker would have been carrying the ipsium and probably would have made it out of the storm without it exploding If hunter had projected a more commanding presence the petty squabbles could have been avoided. I think the point of this episode was to demonstrate to the audience that the bad batch is the bad batch because of their ability to use their individual abilities as a cohesive unit. And are only useful when they can work together.
Yeah this episode they argued a lot more than usual and the energy from previous episodes just wasn’t there. I felt like cid hanging up on them was also a turning point for them as they’ve come to realize that they are like the clones of the empire, just tools for people of higher power to use.
One of the nice things about this show is how it portrays extreme grief and trauma. The clones were bred for war. They've never had to explore who they are outside of combat, and are trying to cultivate purpose. Being unmodified Omega is a constant reminder of what could have and would have been. She wasn't coded and conditioned. She is having the childhood they never did, and is her entire life has been constant loss that's the stuff of a midlife crisis. In a way Omega has become the singilar shared source of purpose for the clones. And on a side note, leaving the armed forces is very hard for a lot of vets. Sometimes this show feels like a love letter to those who have felt the fury of battle and its long term consequences.

You're not the only one. Sid is insufferable in terms of being likeable. I really prefer when they are DIVORCED from sid. That being said it is a shame this show REALLY struggles with consistency. We've got amazing episodes like those last two episodes or the freaking amazing one with Cody. Then a whole Lotta filler. It's frustrating
Echo was a much more important part of the team than most realized. Because he was not modified, he was much better rounded as a person and was the main mentor for Omega. He was the regular guy in the group that reacted to situations more normally then the others. The bad batch is unbalanced because of their gifts and Echo counterbalanced it. Tech always overthinks, Hunter is always instinctive, Wrecker is oblivious to his surroundings most of the time and really excels in the heat of battle and Echo was the grounding rod that balanced them all out. The team needed him because he was a reg.
@@pjv3963 Bullseye. And nice job recalling that quot from the show by the way!!! He was also no typical Arc, he earned it in combat where most Arc's were trained from youth to be an Arc & are trained to be more independent thinkers. All of those accomplishments makes Echo one of the best of the best. Arc's were also trained to have better public relations skills due to having to coordinate with local security/freedom fighters. But you can not blame him for going with Rex since they had a lot of history first appearing together in the first few episodes of Clone wars season one.
I sympathize a lot with Tech. I too process my emotions differently than most people. I do have a hard time expressing my emotions outwardly, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have them. Tech has always been my favorite character, and sometimes you need to see a character at his lowest before he can grow to be at his best.
@@RampidWarthogStudios in that case, since Anakin worked around a lot of machines, scrap, and pod racers, he probably put that knowledge to use about how to hotwire that speeder.
I have a theory. What if Cid did set them up but does end up coming to the rescue next episode. She will tell them they are even or try some BS like that and tell them to move on without the ship. All seems fine and they move on without a ship or even get a different one. Then a couple episodes from now maybe Omega will overhear Cid talking about how she needs to sell the ship quick before they (The BB) find out she has it. Omega calls Cid out on it and then maybe an argument happens. Ultimately the BB end up getting the ship back but I bed Cid betrays them even further by notifying the empire or maybe Crosshair into where the BB is at or heading.
@nobpyxl5389 or it could be what brings the redemption arc alive. Crosshair gets notified and is ordered to eliminate his old team. Maybe he kills or injures one of them but realizes how backwards it all is when they won't or refuse to fight back. Maybe Omega is the one who does it, like he would essentially have to kill her in cold blood and he doesn't. The empire finds out he didn't kill them and sends in backup to take them all out, resulting in Crosshairs death to save the rest? Who knows, I'm excited to see what happens though.
@@donlalo2002 Nah, Cody going awol shows the effect Kenobi had on him. I do agree that I'd prefer Crosshair to stay bad. I think it's okay for their goals to align, but not fully return to the bad batch.
As a first responder, I connected so much with tech and omegas conversation. My wife and I even discussed it in comparison to us. We see and are hardened by the things we see, but that doesn't mean we don't feel pain or empathy like others. We are just good at working through them.
I think that Omega is extremely observant, constantly learning and studying the bad batch. We’re getting to see the good and bad sides of each character. She continues to grow as she analyzes her brothers strengths and weaknesses. Paired with any and all knowledge of the force, she’s going to be a true “force” to be reckoned with.
You did not type omega and force to be reckoned with in the same sentence with a straight face she literally bitched the entire episode over echo wtf are you talking about? She has no buisness being on the team and should've been written off season 1
@@TheEdenProject_ Shes a kid.. A child raised in a cloning facility, knows jack shit about life, what do you expect? They are building her character.. She's getting the Ahsoka treatment, not the Rey treatment.
yeah, hes like the glue that holds them together. definitely makes sense because hes the only one who was with a traditional unit where everyone works together and relies on each other
This is a great episode so far. I love the music composition accompanying our heroes stranded on a desert planet (what's with Star Wars and desert planets?), including the character development in Tech and Omega, and the moral of the story that is being taught to us, including to the Batch, especially even without the classic messages at the beginning of most Clone Wars episode. Can't wait for what next week has in store for us and if Cid is just one of those Trandoshans we can't trust. Wouldn't be too surprised if she has a Wookiee scarf.
As someone who has high functioning autism and can be awkward at times, especially when it comes to showing emotion, I really liked this episode. I really felt like I could relate to Tech as a character and whether or not the writers were doing it or not, the way they explained how someone such as myself handles and processes emotions is very spot on. I also enjoyed being able to see the way Hunter reacted with Tech in this episode. It allowed me to see how others have probably seen myself when I was too caught up in the truth and not being emotionally intelligent.
A really good, quieter episode, I enjoyed it. It gives time to delve into more character development and thought processes. We have to get to know them better to understand their behaviour and motivations. Also, this episode could have an impact on the story further down the line. Good review, thanks.
I enjoyed this episode because of Tech's character development in this episode. I feel like that having one of each member developing their personality is very important to the story.
Love when Tech just jumps, my jaw dropped! They seem to be giving Omega time with each trooper to have her develop a special bond with each and not just Hunter. Her and Wrecker had those snacks and stuff like that. Also, maybe someone is making Cid steal the ship or setting them up, possibly the Empire or Crosshair?
People really call anything “filler” just because the episode decided to focus on character development instead of bringing in a legacy character or focusing on the larger Star Wars galaxy smh. A lot of people forget that the Clone Wars had so much filler. I wanted the Clone Wars to be more like the Umbara and Mandalore arcs with the occasional politics episode but nope we got episodes that did literally nothing and were sometimes really cringe. The Bad Batch is not perfect but please stop pretending Clone Wars had no bad/slow episodes
We don't call them filler episodes because it focuses on character development. we call them filler episodes because they are incredibly boring. I know its hard to believe, but it is possible to have a character development episode, without it being boring.
With how the episodes have gone this season, I thought as a way to tie the “filler” episodes together, it would be revealed that Cid was the buyer of Gungi. And with her not knowing all the details, she tries to have the Bad Batch retrieve Gungi. The revolt against her, she turns on them, and however it happens, they get away and are no longer attached to Cid.
This is what a "filler" episode should be. Plot wise very little happened, but we got a lot of great character moments and progression. That's the difference between his episode and that treasure hunting one. The fact that The Bad Batch is clearly capable of putting out episodes like this makes it even more frustrating when they release actual filler.
I really enjoyed this episode. I think a couple reasons that us as the audience is feeling Echo's absence is because 1: Echo is the most experienced so he acts as an emotional anchor to the squad, so he absence leaves an emotional hole 2: Hunter as a team leader needs a lancer, and neither Crosshair and now Echo can be that for him, so it feels very imbalanced now.
Wasn't there a scene where Tech was Crosshair's spotter? I swore that was in an episode once which makes sense why he would be second best as an interim sharpshooter given his ability to quickly calculate mentally.
One thing that they addressed this season was Tech basically getting no character development in season 1 but here he has gotten several episodes where his character is shown off a lot more.

I hope this makes the bad batch realize that they should leave cid. She really holds the show back from being on par with clone wars. Case and point, episodes 3,7,&8.
I really hope the Batch breaks away from Sid and focuses on their own missions of dealing with the aftermath of the Clone decommissioning. How cool would it be to see them go on missions to help other Clones and interact with them, and navigate a changing galaxy where they are cast aside and even hunted? It would be so cool to have them take their own action. I think a show about Rex and Echo finding/helping other clones (Like Wolffe and Gregor) would be so much more interesting, because the batch characters themselves have very little development. However, I really like the concept of the show and the idea of the group, it was just executed poorly save for some really good episodes in seasons one and two. I hope the show picks up and reaches its full potential soon!
I actually thought this episode was better than the episodes last week. The moments between Tech and Omega were fantastic. And I think Theory really downplays that Tech is learning just as much from Omega there as she is from him.
As far as being “Filler” this is absolutely solid. Actual character work for Omega and Tech, and the planet was a beautiful environment. There wasn’t any “cringe” or any poorly written sped up adventure.
I liked this episode because it was the outside echoing (no pun intended) what was going on inside them all. Layered and with character development, that’s good storytelling.

I've always felt that Echo wanted to be with Rex, but he only stayed with the Bad Batch cause he'd be considered a freak like them. A Fire team usually consists of 4, but it does feel wrong when there's a hole in the team that we're used to. I never liked Cid either... only she would order around the people who saved her twice like her personal droids. I like the idea of Cid selling them out to the empire, cause then Crosshair can save them and rejoin the team...
I'll make a quick note here that as someone with autism myself, I think Tech shows heavy signs of autism. He does have emotions, but has difficulty expressing them. And he also experience difficulties with responding correctly to social cues. His rambles of trivial details is also a thing that people with autism do. So I hope Tech becomes like a media for people with autism to show that we are human too. Even when we have difficulty showing it
bruh there is a lot of People like that its also a very typical steryotype for someone with a lot of tec ability and many People think way more logical
I think that's the point with Cid. Echo was the wisest/noblest one in the group and with him leaving, it's forcing the Bad Batch to mature, and Cid hiring the poacher to steal the ship would line up well with the warning in episode 4. Cid will definitely burn them for a profit, especially since the bad batch hasn't been delivering on their end of the bargain. I think that's the narrative relevance of all the Bad Batch hunting missions, now that they are starting to fail more and more. I think Cid will probably turn them over once the Empire closes in.
The Millennium Falcon (Original trilogy) The Ghost (Star Wars Rebels) The Twilight (Star Wars The Clone Wars. Not exactly the most memorable in my opinion). The Marauder (Star Wars The Bad Batch).
@@richard38618 it was that broken down spice runner ship Anakin and Ahsoka found in the 2008 Clone Wars movie. It was used just a few times 'because' it was indeed a broken down hunk of junk. I knew from the moment that she hired them with blackmail, that something bad was going to happen. She has the personality of a schemer all over tĥe face and not because she is Trandoshan. Bossk is a Trandoshan bounty hunter as well but at least he is honourable as we saw in the deleted duel between Cad Bane and Boba Fett from the unreleased episodes of the Clone Wars. This episode would’ve been better if almost half of this show was not “Cid contracts Bad batch to a mission, they go, Omega does something because she’s a child, and that molds the rest of the episode somehow”. This formula is so tiring, and makes moments when this actually works - this episode - harder to land.
I find it frustrating that everytime they seem to be about to make enough money to get away from working for cid. They end up loosing whatever it is that would make them that money through their own negligence, and getting strung a long a little longer. Seems to me the show is moving towards a clone underground type situation from the republic commando books. Which only adds to my frustration. I keep getting blue balled on a story I really want to see make a return. Especially with the potential for delta, and omega squads making a return on the big screen. Having Rex be a major player in the exfiltration of clones from the imperial army to mandalore where kal skirata and his boys are waiting with open arms and a ton of credits. A return of the null arc's. I mean come on man that would be sick!
I Actually Really Loved This Episode!!! It had Really Great Character Development for Tech who is One of My Favorite Characters and I Loved The Conversation He had with Omega about how He has the same Emotions as Omega, But just processes them differently. It also really showed how much Echo Leaving affected Omega and The Rest Of The Team. It also Showed how Cid is a Backstabber and not to be Trusted. Overall, It was A Great Episode! Definitely not "filler". I LOVE THIS SHOW SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! I'M SOOOOOO EXCITED FOR SEASON 3!!!!!!
While I was originally annoyed by how they all treat her like a little kid, despite her being older than the rest of the bad batch, i've warmed up to the relationship once I realized that the bad batch are carrying a huge mental load of battlefield trauma that Omega just doesn't have.

The only time Cid backed down and agreed to help them is when she looked over at Omega. I have a feeling that Cid would have completely abandoned them if she hadn’t gone on the mission with them.
My favorite part had to be with Omega and Tech. I have people close to me who are neurodivergent, and Tech talking about how he feels and understanding Omega better is really on point. I appreciate that they’re moving him away from being a stereotype and more of a realistic person.
I would like to note that I have a different perspective on Tech's heart to heart. I think that was the writers trying to educate the viewers about nuerodivergent people. Pretty much everything he said, and the conflict between him an omega is incredibly accurate to real-life neurodivergence.
I dont believe this is a filer episode, this is more character development episode and i truly love it. Its showing me things that i need to adapt to change my mom always says i hate change and this episode is helping me to learn that life isnt going to be the same. I truly loved this episode so much and i feel both kids and adults can learn from this and relate to Omega and Tech you dont always need a Palpatine or Yoda to make the episode a banger.
When Tech asked Omeeega what her deal is, I think we all knew what she was feeling, "We're family" and she later says it on the shore and it was beautiful when Tech affirmed that fact. I loved the moment when Tech makes the blind jump after Omeega. Great development. Seriously, Tech should have been guarding the ship as he is the most capable intelligence and security wise but Wrecker should have been guarding the ship AT THE SHIP, not at the mine entrance, lol. That was kinda messy but overall a decent episode.
he had to be at the main entrance to look out for poachers....cant do that in the shit....or on a high grown somewhere where both the entrance and ship are in sight
Music 10/10. Animation 9/10. Character growth 10/10. plot 7/10. It's definitely leaning into a change with Cid, and it's setting up for something good. Definitely not filler like people are saying. Tech is a relatable character for me and the writing for him in this episode was absolutely perfect
I've seen a lot of comments (various recap shows about this episode) and how Omega is SO EMOTIONAL about the loss of the Marauder. Do we forget how attached Han and Lando were about the Falcon, or Din about his Razor Crest??? Yup.

I thought this episode was so good the relationship between Omega and Tech was really sweet I hated how everyone was fighting it really shows how echo leaving is impacting them more than they think
Eh. I don't think it's so much that Cid doesn't care as much as she stops caring when it becomes inconvenient to care. I hate Cid more than I like her, but I don't think she's as bad, much less evil, as some of the nere do wells she deals with, and consequently hooks them up with. She's affable enough that I don't think the show should simply drop her, but I certainly wouldn't miss her if she never showed up again. I definitely think the show is winding up to give Cid the boot.
I loved this episode, the character development was great. I appreciated that the creators are giving tech some attention considering he’s the stereotyped tech guy with no emotions. I appreciated this.
I wish they dug into the fact that Wrecker is used as a human shield.. he seemed really stressed with his role in the BB but then it went nowhere. Hopefully that is in the next episode here
This ep not only had some fantastic character development for Tech, but it feels like the calm before the storm. This ep is the beginning of the second half of the season, and it was definitely setting the stage for whatever the conflict is going to be in this second half. The only thing I know for certain is that there is a good chance that Cid is NOT setting the boys up for nefarious reasons, if only because whenever Theory says he thinks he knows who's doing what or why, his predictions are almost always wrong. That is not a slam or an insult; we are all armchair prognosticators and we're all almost always wrong. I know I've made my share of analyses and predictions in these comments and afterwards, been like "well, I was wrong as hell." But when you look at things through the lens of a fanboy rather than looking at them analytically you tend to be more wrong more often. With the type of storytelling that's been done with this show, I can see it more being a case of Cid being painted in a negative light but ultimately coming down on their side and "redeeming" her character in OUR eyes.
i completely agree but cid has always been this way from the first mission with the batch so its not surprising now learning she doesn't have their best interest at heart and cant rely on her even omega sensed this...
@@NETBU I second that. Even Cid herself said to Hunter in season 1 of episode 10, that he or any of the batchers shouldn't trust her. I agree that there is a chance that Cid could be redeemed, and likely by sacrificing herself to save the Bad Batch. From that scene with her and Millegi in that racing episode when the two were talking, Cid told Millegi that she's changed. He doubts it, cause those in their positions never change, but Cid points to him that she might surprise him. Like I said, there's a possibility Cid will prove to us that even though she's shady, she'll likely turn out to be one of the good kinds. However, we can't ignore the facts about what Cid did before in season 1 and what she's doing now in season 2. She practically sent them on a suicide mission when trying to pull the heist of Dooku's treasure, getting herself in trouble with her rival Millegi, and now deserting them on a desert planet after sending them on a wasted mission to a practically empty mine that she purchased. And with the high jacker, he managed to steal the Marauder cause it was conveniently out of sight from where the mine was, and with TBB being a man down without Echo to help Wreckerkeep watch or stay on the ship to make sure it won't get stolen. Something tells me it wasn't just a coincidence that it happened just like that. With Cid, she reminds me of Robert Carlyle character Mr. Gold/ Rumplestiltskin from my favorite fantasy drama Once Upon A Time. I can't tell you how many times I went back and forth with that guy, until I finally decided to not trust what he had planned or what he wasn't telling his family or loved ones. For several episodes at first, he acted like this trickster you had to be cautious about. Then you see, that even he went through pain and hardship in his life with mistakes he made. He tried to do good, but had a nasty habit of self pressurvation by wanting to gain more and more power to get what he wanted and alot of people suffered the consequences of his actions. But ultimately in the end, Gold made the great sacrifice to save the one who'm he was enemies with early in his life that eventually became his good friend. Gold wasn't my favorite character through out Once Upon a Time, but in the end he gained my respect that he finally made the right choice to save his friends and family. However Cid's fate turns out in this season of Bad Batch, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Yes, even though she's been giving majority of us fans of the show plenty of reasons to dislike and not trust her. Cid is likely due to give us a surprise she has under sleeve.
7:28 or maybe they called her at an inconvenient time? She literally said that she was too busy, but then Tech points out what they did for her and she agreed to help though it would take a while.
Don't know why, but I keep expecting Omega to become a force user one day, and I fully expected her to find a kyber crystal in that mine, as I expected here to grab some holocron Dooku storage... Oh, well... But loved the scene between Omega and Tech anyway, so in the end: good episode.
When TBB FIRST came out, I had seen speculation that the "new female clone character is force sensitive" And that has thrown me off so bad once I started this show because I keep waiting for a "force" moment myself lol
@@BreMue I still think they are building that revelation up, like when Omega was trying to meditate... The force will probably show up in the most dramatic moment. I Hope ;)
@@stjacob7773 well I mean... I dont know if they death the kid offscreen or on screen. so she will be alive. and remember shes basicly a clone version of Grogu so I think she be alive so lol
I would love to see the bad batch's new ship be the LAAT gunship or a refitted variant. It offers firepower, cargo space, and different usages, plus the sound it makes never gets old. I know there are a lot of good ships to be used, but just imagine the customization, action scenes, and stories than can be made in a LAAT. I picture it similar to the 2003 clone wars Muunilinst 10 LAAT scenes.

I like this episode a lot actually. I'm glad that Tech got some time to shine and I really felt like the writers knew that he needed some more spotlight. However I'm kind of disappointed that this wasn't a two episode release since it really felt like a two-parter.
This reminded me of this one fan comic where Tech and Omega are separated from the other bad batch members in a cave. Mind you Echo is still apart of the crew in the small comic. Tech tells Omega about how he struggles with change and he needed to get use to Omega just like how he got use to Echo being in the crew before her. I think that the people at Lucasfilm saw that comic and did an episode with that in mind.
At the beggining of the second season, they said that when they'll have enough money, they could live on their own. I hope that by the end of season Bad Batch will finally leave Cid.
I think the team missing Echo or Crosshair is the problem. That's why they aren't functioning well. I like that this episode illustrated that. Something has to give so we shall see.
On your idea of Sid betraying them, what if she hired a young Boba Fett to steal it? The size of the character seems to fit and we know Boba likes wearing a helmet.
I’m inclined to agree. Also, the eerie music during those sequences was similar to that of the Boba arcs when trying to assassinate Mace Windu in the Clone Wars.
By this time in the Star Wars time line, both Ezra, Luke and Leia are all still babies. I have a theory that it's that boy that Omega is with in the season 2 trailer. After seeing the details of the thiefs clothing, and watching the trailer again, I really do believe that it's the same boy.
I also been have felt uneasy about Cid. I mean it’s bad enough she’s a Trandoshian (probably my most least liked species in Star Wars) but her nonchalant attitude towards the Bad Batch where she seems like she just uses them at her expense is very unsettling to me. When their ship was stolen in the episode my first thought was “Cid set them up!” and I feel like her attitude towards them at the end when they contacted her for help all but confirmed that.
Seriously everyone complains like crazy whenever there’s a side story or filler. So much of clone wars is filler and those are some of the best episodes. This episode and some of the side stories this season are so great. Comprehensive stories with fantastic animation and great character development. Enjoy the journey not the destination
First off....thanks for everything you do, I love it and has really helped me! I'm not too sure if Cid is doing if for money i.e. selling the ship as she sent them there for the Ipsium.....how much would this be? I think, (from the conversation she had with the guy on the racer episode) that her story arc leans more to the light and she's doing it for reasons to save the bad batch ..... I hope, but I'm an optimist person 😂
This was a surprisingly good episode with some deep character moments. I'm reminded again why Tech is my favorite (love them all though.) More of this please. Between 6, 7, 8 and now 9... this show is finally going full steam ahead! I also REALLY hate Cid, her demeanor is obnoxiously arrogant and her filler missions are easily the weakest aspect of the show, when I don't see her, it's a good episode.
That one to one between Omega and Tech was deeper than it might seem initially. His explanation of how he feels about change and losing Echo/Hunter was so much like many autistic people’s responses to change. I’m so glad they’ve explored Tech in greater depth this season. Him showing autistic traits will really hit home with quite a few viewers, especially children trying to comprehend their own mind. You’re absolutely right. This season has really made him a much more “human” character.
I like the music you use now in the vids, but the music you used to use was way better. Felt better and went well with your narrating. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video! I've been thinking for a while about the different niches of the BB members - specifically Tech because it's not as clear what his "superpower" is compared to Hunter (super senses), Wrecker (strength) or Crosshair (precision). Even when it comes to Omega, her superpower might not really be fully developed yet but we've seen her proficiency at strategy (as evident from the "chess" games). But Tech's not really come across as anything else than a computer specialist. Furthermore, none of the others have shown the same difficulty with social interaction as Tech when you think about it. Hunter, Omega and Crosshair have no problem (well.. disputable in Crosshair's case) getting a social interaction working, and Wrecker, albeit often having more "childish" interactions, still manage to get along with people he doesn't know quite easily. Tech, on the other hand, is rarely seen doing this and even in his interactions with the BB, often comes across as abrupt, analytical or just tactless. The reason for this background is that I, in this episode, really for the first time started thinking about Tech more in terms of someone with an autism spectrum disorder such as e.g. Asperger. That is, he's just wired a differently. At times, this makes him come across as incomprehensible to the people around him. However, his way of seeing things is sometimes absolutely necessary for the outcome. We've seen this in the racing episode, we saw this in how he put Omega on the spot for just being grumpy without really spilling the beans on why, and I guess we've also got used to it over the whole time we've followed the BB without really recognising or appreciating it. Long story short, I think we're finally starting to see that Tech's "real" superpower is how he's wired: he's on "the spectrum"! And writing it in this way, without spelling it out, is GENIOUS. Because that's how it is in real life too. In any context, being the person who's seeing things and processing things differently is difficult. It easily ends up marginalising you and frequently causes you to be lonely. Quite often, your skills are unrecognized. But when you end up in a supportive atmosphere, such as the BB for Tech, you get your chance to shine. Subsequently, it gives your whole group the superpower of thinking outside the box, seeing things in a novel way, analysing problems on a deeper level - the list could go on. So I think what they've done with Tech's character is awesome - through diversity we get farther, and that's equally true when it comes to neurodiversity. These are just my thoughts after the episode and not any form of truth - but I'd really like some opinions on this!
I'm not a big fan on turning autism into a superpower. it's a neuro divergence that people struggle with and shouldn't be like 'fetishised' in a way. also I'm not sure if BB is good at social interaction. start of S1 you can see they do not at all get on with regs, so not sure. that could be the regs fault ig but still worth noting somewhat. uh also might want to avoid using 'asperger' looking forward as the word stems from pretty fucked up roots (I'd just look it up if I were you) I like your thinking though, and also think it's cool to build on Techs character and how he is special :D
@@grandadmiralmowthelawn5113 Thanks for the response! I do agree with you - it shouldn't be fetishised. And it is something people struggle with - I think it's quite evident that Tech also has. I also think it's a good place to show that despite these difficulties your value isn't diminished, which is a very important point. And the way they've slowly let his character evolve has been a great way of letting us see that in a non-fetishised way, if you ask me! Maybe I went a little bit far calling it his "superpower" - perhaps a better word would be niche (for all of the BB's members)! And you're right. The BB doesn't get along very well with regs. I always had the feeling it had more to do with the regs, although there is of course something to be said about how the BB handled those situations as well. I'm just not sure if their problems with the regs really were because of their social skills, or because they don't conform in a very conformist environment (military), which was (and is) frowned upon by "normal" clones? I think there's good evidence of the BB being perfectly apt in social situations when broken loose from the regs, which would support that! Will look it up, thanks! Have a nice evening!
@@grandadmiralmowthelawn5113 I agree with this comment and the initial one. While I don’t want ASD to be fetishized, I feel that the show is moving away from Tech just being “he’s analytical” and “he’s socially inept,” which I feel is currently a good thing.
Really liked this quieter episode. Really warmed to Tech. I also liked how they showed Hunter's senses a lot more explicitly - it's a power I often forget he has.
EXACTLY.
I was thinking the same thing
They never really show his ability anymore
It annoys me how they don't give his abilities much credit
Tech is a really relatable character for many autistic people. He can be extremely articulate and he's incredibly smart and always focused on the task at hand, but his mind is so heavily focused on data and analytics that he can't always interpret others complex emotions and struggles with social interaction. He states things as they are without considering the way people may react, and doesn't necessarily understand when they do, which is why Hunter and Wrecker have to point out to him that he came off as insensitive and tell him to go and make amends with Omega, and I love when he explains to Omega that just because he processes emotions differently, doesn't mean he doesn't feel any less.
He not autistic tho, weirdo
@@cloudnein8114 never said he was, just that he has a lot of relatable qualities. No need to be rude.
For real I love him so much he’s such a relatable character
As someone with autism I see a lot of those traits in him. It makes him more relatable
I think the Bad Batch's break-off with Cid kind of hints at how they will quit being mercenaries and join Rex and Echo to protect the Clones from the Empire.
I agree
One can only hope!
i really hope so. fuck Cid tbh, her missions are the boring part of the show. time to progress the show and bring the team back to more important stuff like helping the other clones!
And probably start killing imperials too. Using stun on TKs is dumb.
Cid is like Mr Crabs, she only cares about money!
I think her bad attitude is the point
@@chuyvega9603 I genuinely hope that she dies somehow
boring as hell still.
Echo: Gets like 4 lines the entire series then leaves
Everyone 5 seconds later: “I MISS ECHO!!”
wym 4 lines. been active. see him all the time...he's a MC
My favourite scene was where Tech jumped in after Omega, into the unknown. For all he knew, Omega had just died, but he followed her immediately. That’s what you do for family.
I probably would have yelled down there and thrown a rope if it were my family but hey whatever 🤷

I liked that most of the problems they faced were caused by their inability to work together and communicate.
If Wrecker had communicated that he couldn't see the ship and watch the entrance they could have made a better plan from the beginning
If tech and wrecker hadn't been being petty Wrecker would have been carrying the ipsium and probably would have made it out of the storm without it exploding
If hunter had projected a more commanding presence the petty squabbles could have been avoided.

Very well said
That’s why he’s the Arc Trooper

You know I was a little mad when the ship got stolen, like do they not have door locks on ships 😂
Well good criminals can easily find ways around locks.
Perhaps Echo encrypted the locks to keep the ship safe. Without him, it's no more vulnerable.
It’s always bugged me how easy it is to steal vehicles in Starwars. Like Anakin stealing yellow car thing in episode 2.
@@RampidWarthogStudios in that case, since Anakin worked around a lot of machines, scrap, and pod racers, he probably put that knowledge to use about how to hotwire that speeder.
For real no high tech security key
However notifying crosshairs might ruin a redemption ark for him
@nobpyxl5389 or it could be what brings the redemption arc alive.

I like the scene in episode 2 which Echo persuaded Omega to give up the gold,as he commented that the batch feel no regrets about picking her up.
Ive been loving the animation and cg of these latest bad batch episodes. That opening scene on coruscant is insane
Not to mention that Echo is a "normal" clone. It makes him familiar to those of us who grew up with Clone Wars.
Wasn't there a scene where Tech was Crosshair's spotter? I swore that was in an episode once which makes sense why he would be second best as an interim sharpshooter given his ability to quickly calculate mentally.
Yeah i think that was season 1 or s7 of clone wars
One thing that they addressed this season was Tech basically getting no character development in season 1 but here he has gotten several episodes where his character is shown off a lot more.
It’s not that Techs learning empathy. It’s that he’s learning how to express it to others

My favorite part had to be with Omega and Tech. I have people close to me who are neurodivergent, and Tech talking about how he feels and understanding Omega better is really on point. I appreciate that they’re moving him away from being a stereotype and more of a realistic person.
He's not autistic, weird ahhh nigga
I Love your videos so much. I can’t wait to see more episodes of the bad batch
Yup.
Hi there Thanks for watching😄 I'm randomly giving out Consoles for my new Contest & I've picked you! Please write me on my official telegram above * for it ✍️Happy New Month 🎊
I thought this episode was so good the relationship between Omega and Tech was really sweet I hated how everyone was fighting it really shows how echo leaving is impacting them more than they think
That antelope stampede reminded me of the Lion King
I think we all feel this way!
It was quite obvious IMO 🤣
Theory you had the best in my opinion breakdown video, great job I enjoyed this episode seeing the character development is important.
Cid did framed Rampart.
Hopefully that is in the next episode here
When Wrecker jumped out of the stampede and was hanging onto the line, I couldn't help but say "Long live the king".
In the words of Sev: I'll see you in the inferno lizard!"
7:28 or maybe they called her at an inconvenient time? She literally said that she was too busy, but then Tech points out what they did for her and she agreed to help though it would take a while.
So I like how tech took a “leap of faith” and then was baptized in the waters below….very symbolic , bravo
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾
Don't know why, but I keep expecting Omega to become a force user one day, and I fully expected her to find a kyber crystal in that mine, as I expected here to grab some holocron Dooku storage... Oh, well... But loved the scene between Omega and Tech anyway, so in the end: good episode.
When TBB FIRST came out, I had seen speculation that the "new female clone character is force sensitive"
And that has thrown me off so bad once I started this show because I keep waiting for a "force" moment myself lol
@@BreMue I still think they are building that revelation up, like when Omega was trying to meditate... The force will probably show up in the most dramatic moment. I Hope ;)
@@stjacob7773 she needs to survive all 16 episodes before we can see her in tv show or movie for that matter mate
@@ladyriethegoldendelmo5441 That sounds like a cheap Disney money grab tactic, so I'm afraid you are right ;(
@@stjacob7773 well I mean... I dont know if they death the kid offscreen or on screen. so she will be alive. and remember shes basicly a clone version of Grogu so I think she be alive so lol
I hope they get the Marauder back!
ezra took the ship
Me too, but the bad batch is taking some dark themes about change.
@@SeaurchinSimpson714 yes explain how a little baby can possibly steal a ship. Explain how Rex is young when he was an old man when they first met.
Given the next episode's title is Retrieval, it's a guaranteed

I literally thought the same thing I thought the storyline seemed somewhat familiar
@@avery2377 good to know I wasn't the only one. Was gonna say that during the watch
I knew you were gonna speak about the Lion King in this. I was watching last night when it came out and I called it.
At the beggining of the second season, they said that when they'll have enough money, they could live on their own. I hope that by the end of season Bad Batch will finally leave Cid.
Nah it has to be before the season ends, the sooner the better
I think the team missing Echo or Crosshair is the problem. That's why they aren't functioning well. I like that this episode illustrated that. Something has to give so we shall see.
This episode was visually appealing
The textures, environment and animation were so beautiful
On your idea of Sid betraying them, what if she hired a young Boba Fett to steal it? The size of the character seems to fit and we know Boba likes wearing a helmet.
I’m inclined to agree. Also, the eerie music during those sequences was similar to that of the Boba arcs when trying to assassinate Mace Windu in the Clone Wars.
@@aj801001 good call out!!!
The thief that stole the ship for some reason gave me the feeling it was Ezra but then I realized this is before his time and got instantly sad lol
By this time in the Star Wars time line, both Ezra, Luke and Leia are all still babies. I have a theory that it's that boy that Omega is with in the season 2 trailer. After seeing the details of the thiefs clothing, and watching the trailer again, I really do believe that it's the same boy.
@@rashworth080 I think you might be right
I liked this episode, very pretty and some good charscter beats, their family feels so small now 😪
I also been have felt uneasy about Cid.
Am I correct in saying that Crosshair has only been in 1 episode?
Seriously everyone complains like crazy whenever there’s a side story or filler. So much of clone wars is filler and those are some of the best episodes. This episode and some of the side stories this season are so great. Comprehensive stories with fantastic animation and great character development. Enjoy the journey not the destination
Did anyone notice in the opening scene when Omega had rocks in her hand, it looked like she was moving one with the force slightly????
Totally it seemed like foreshadowing Omegas force sensitivity
Would this imply that Omega was a Jango Fett clone who not only had a different gender, but was experimented on with midichlorians?
Tech reminds me of myself. I am very analytical and technical, and my family constantly questions if I care about anything.
Just finished this episode and the first thing I did was search for "I hate cid" and this video showed up. Glad I'm not alone
I've been looking forward to this.
The one guy at the start if the season told them to watch out for Cid... foreshadowing
Its OH-MEG-UH, its only pronounced OH-MEE-GUH with a Kiwi accent
I think you mean cross hair
Nah, it wasn't. Weird ahhh🤣
@@dralex94 you too 😄
@@grandadmiralmowthelawn5113 I agree with this comment and the initial one. While I don’t want ASD to be fetishized, I feel that the show is moving away from Tech just being “he’s analytical” and “he’s socially inept,” which I feel is currently a good thing.
