This is less of a thought process and more of an evolutionary advantage that became instinctive behaviour. As far as birds go Penguins aren't on the smart side.
They are also intelligent because they wait until the baby is the human equivalent of a preschooler to leave it with a childminder and it is not for long periods of time.
@@nickdouglas736 While yes, in a relative sense, humans are more intelligent in terms of abstract thinking, adaptive capabilities, etc., etc., it's not like we can't say the same for us, as the vast majority of our behavior is also based on instinct guided by the 3+ billion base-pair code that is our DNA. Not that you're saying it's not the case. People like to think otherwise, because the alternative is an uneasy concept, and there's a deeper question of the space "free-will" has, if any, owing to our pervading sense of consciousness, but the evidence is honestly pretty (and perhaps depressingly) overwhelming in terms of showing how much of our behavior, emotions, and yes - even seemingly complex societal or cultural struggles - are just the result of instinctive behaviors due to evolutionary advantages that brought us to being the clearly dominant species and so-called "apex predator" on Earth. I mean, honestly, sure they're being anthropomorphized quite a bit by the narration, but you can even still see, albeit in a much simpler way, analogs to many social and developmental behaviors of humans in this clip, and they're still a lot more advanced than the majority of species on Earth.
Isn't this the same baby penguin that got bullied by older chicks, nearly smothered to death by a bunch of penguins and now survived a petril snatching just because he is the smallest? Man this kid is pretty courageous he Is gonna grow up big and brave :) 💕
I'm so invested in these clips. The narrator is amazing. Actually, no. The whole team who worked in this are amazing videographer, director, researcher, etc.
The thought of having a childminder in a group of birds is already astonishing. Also the childminder is very protective of the baby chick too. Like how did they come to think this way???
Through Evolution! The ones that didn't think this way, died long ago. Penguins' cultures, traditions and roles have evolved to give better survival chances to their individuals.
From the Lord, they may not be as intelligent as us since we were made in his image, but they aren't dumb either. Clearly able to communicate in their own ways! It's completely amazing to witness! ♥️
I never laughed so hard ever when the penquin just stepped on the chick and slipped and acted like nothing happen LOL. I take a whole 2hr film of just this. I love this.
From what I remember watching other clips, it's because the chick was one of the last to hatch, hence slower development compared to other chicks who hatched earlier and had a bigger start ahead of it.
@@KenUghiovhe My parents made the mistake of starting me early. Let's just say I can *really* relate to this chick and it's difficulty being the youngest and smallest.
As I watched the last three amazing penguin clips, I was just thinking their only enemy may be the blizzard and extreme temperature but they do have a predator too. Yet they have an awesome system and ways to protect themselves and their offsprings! Who knew both parents could go hunting while their dedicated babysitter is a protector?! Almost like humans but these are birds! Incredible. Such intelligent animals!
Unfortunately, now they have to fight and invisible enemy, which is much too powerful for them to overcome: Climate Change. They won't make it; in the next few decades penguins will disappear from the wild.
It really is amazing, especially when you think of what they go through for this safety. Miles of walking on freezing ice, both on a full and empty stomach! Starving for weeks while feeding the baby! Yeesh, talk about hard working parents!
This is like parents leaving their young ones at school for the very first time and the way the parent penguins are standing next to one and another looks like they’re conversing about their day 😅😅😊 it’s interesting to see these species behaving just like humans would!

This series makes me question if "happy feet" was documentary and not a movie. also, question if the guy who the wrote the script was actually a penguin.
I'll be following this chick on it's perilous journey to adulthood, it's learning so much and fast that when a preditor is angling for it's life, the little fella plays hide and seek to perfection.
This baby penguin showed how my baby sister ran when she tried to escape from our grasp. Same body shape and same short bursts of energy. It's too cute. She used to get her kicks from being chased. 😂😂❤❤ I'm just relieved that this cute little fluff ball was safe.
Like im so amazed at how penguin colonies work. They even got like penguin sitters to look after the chicks while mom and dad are out working (fishing)
