Team maximilist for the win, or as my brother puts it, organised hoarding 😂😂 pretty things make me happy, and the more pretty things around me, the happier I get!
As the second youngest of five homeschooled kids from the mid-90’s to the early 2010’s, cabinets of craft and sewing supplies is a mood, especially considering how much sewing, and creating, and stuff my family does, simply because we can
I love when I see videos of other Crafty Sewists who are maximalists- cause sometimes I almost feel like, morally bad, cause I enjoy having my stuff! Which is crazy- I am allowed to have things that just exist to be pretty and bring me aesthetic joy!!!!!
Hello Bianca. I loved this video. I completely relate to the Apothecary thing from yesteryear. My grandparents were Pharmacists and had their own Pharmacy from the mid '20's to the mid 80's. As a child I explored the attic finding all these strange concoctions, among them an amber bottle labelled "powder from the great beast's fingernails" My brother and I couldn't get over that one. When we asked my grandmother she laughed it off saying. "That's what people asked for back in the days" My brother and I developed a real interest in finding "dusty old treasures" in my grandparents home and business. Alas, it's all turned to dust!
When I saw the thumbnail, I smiled and thought, "Yay!!!!" I love a sewing room organization video! (now if only I would get off my lazy bum and organize my own.) What I especially liked about this video was how you crafted your aesthetic. It isn't my aesthetic, but the amount of thought and dedication you put into making a room that you spend so much time in feel like your personal space is wonderful. If your work space is happier, you are more happy when working. Great Job!!
I relate so hard to this video. Nicely arranged “clutter” that is both decorative and useful is my happy place. Frequently used tools need to be handy and visible, or I’ll be awful about actually putting them “away” where they belong when I’m done. Seeing the beautiful things I own, especially things I’ve made, makes me incredibly happy. I love seeing how other creative people arrange their spaces to be both functional and #aesthetic.
Oh, and for your plant, I recommend watering thoroughly only once a week (I would do it right in that sink so the excess water drains away), and you should change that light bulb right above it to a full spectrum grow light. You can get them on Amazon (the white light ones, not the pink or blue ones). That way whenever you're working down there, it'll get great light, and those lights are bright enough for your own use as well. I have them in my own sewing room where I have tons of plants, so highly recommend 💚
This is a good solution for winter too when I expect I'll have the curtains closed now for a bit of extra warmth! For now I have conceded and moved the plant next to the windows ;)
When I worked in an elementary school, a local printing business went out of business and donated a ton of fancy paper and card making supplies. It was fantastic, we loved being able to make nicer certificates for the kids that would last.
This is the first video I've watched that shows the whole Blue Patterning Table of Doom; it's smaller than I expected. I also appreciate the overhead camera setup. It doesn't need to be fancy, and it works very well.
Or even paint them with cheap acrylic paint. We have a some that we bought for kids' toys yrs ago & the fabric has disintegrated (the brightly coloured awful 'fabric' they use for grocery bags), leaving the cardboard structure all bare. I wish I'd painted over the fabric years ago & they'd still be intact; now I don't even have a template/pattern & have to use my brain LOL.
Hi! You can use the smaller pieces of fabric to make pockets, the inside part that is not visible (or for adding in seam pockets in garments without pockets). If it's a pretty print/colour, you can make a long and narrow heas scarf or a square bandana...also masks or zippered pouches
There I was procrastinating about clearing up the upstairs back room, but this video was satisfying enough for me to be able to feel I’ve researched the project at hand and now am absolutely nearly positive next weekend will be the weekend the magic happens. 🤣
Love seeing other peoples sewing rooms. Last fall I went through everything and reorganized it all except my fabric. A friend of mine and I are now doing fabric exchanges. That's forcing me to go sort out my fabric.
Loved it! You have such a nice voice to listen to, feel free to make more vlog-like content! This was a very relaxing video to have on in the background and don't we all just need that right now. I especially loved your crafting, those paper butterflies turned out so nicely! The green ones in the bell jar were my favorites. Oh, and I love that red and gold Japanese fan too! I was gifted a similar tourist trade one in Japan when I was 16 and I've had it on display ever since. 😁
I have been purging fabric from my stash and making "donation piles" in my craft / sewing room. I can totally relate to the need to clear out and redecorate before getting on to the next project! Great video! (Put the plant near the window and don't overwater).
I just created a sewing nook in my craft room because I have just started to sew. It’s was great seeing how you organized things. I was also amazed at how many of the same books we have. Also, I think I have the same Singer machine. Mine was a gift from a patron at the theatre where I work because they knew I liked vintage clothing and items.
I use scraps like this for making matching gloves, hat bands, bags, belts, head scarf/bandanas, fabric flowers for brooches or hats or shoe clips. You can also use it to bulk up flimsier fabric when flatlining. My favorite use for fabric scraps too small is to make "coleslaw" and use it to fill stuffed animal or projects to avoid polyfill and recycle every last scrap I can.
Yay!!! I love watching organizing videos, and of course your videos are always fun to watch. I just moved house and everything is a mess right now, so I got to organizing with you. Thanks for keeping me company. :)
As a "clutter" person, myself, I love your space!! The more "clutter" the happier I am! Only difference is I do dust every week because I have a dog. Love the curtains. Beautiful print! Love your videos. Stay safe. Hugs from Pa. 🦇🎃🦇
Weird old dusty stuff is absolutely my aesthetic, and having just moved (definitely not still sitting among boxes no not me) I am very upset about not being able to go to thrift shops and antique stores to find new clutter for my space
Lol. " No one will ever know I made that mistake " as she tells 32K people!!!! I loved this video! I don't dust either so don't worry about those who say things about it. I will never figure out why people feel the need to point things out. I mean come on. ' LIKE WE DONT KNOW!!!' I love all the little touches you did. And those butterfly jars are fantastic. Can't help with the plant love!!! I'm lucky my kids survived.
Your craft room looks great, dust and all! I very seldom dust. I'm sure my issue is a hereditary condition. lol Thank you for calling yourself a seamstress! Lots of people are calling themselves Sewists, which is awesome if that makes them happy! I'm old fashioned, in some ways, so I'll call myself a seamstress as long as I live but I believe we should all do what brings us joy, except for hurting others of course! I love your butterflies. I was trying to decide what Spring theme I want to do- I've got Summer, Fall and Winter covered, but I'm not a huge flower fan so your butterfly idea would work perfectly! I absolutely love caterpillars as well so I will incorporate them too! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world! Blessings to all in love and light!🙏🏼💜🙏🏼💙🙏🏼🧡🙏🏼💛🙏🏼💚🙏🏼
More is more, pile it on! I love all the tchotchke, and the butterflies you made are stunning. Sewing room clean up/organization are my faves, yours is especially fun.
I vote that anything that you describe as 'sad' 'difficult to sew' or just brings you down- get it out of your space. Love the green in the eyeshadow and with your pin.
I first watched this video when it was "live" but it was background to me rearranging some of my bedroom furniture, so it was nice to watch it again properly. I love a good home reorganization video (especially of sewing rooms, though I don't have my own to do), and it was one of the first of your videos that I watched.
Loved this video! Thank you for embracing your maximalist side and sharing it with us. People always make me feel guilty about my clutter but I love it. Embrace the clutter, I say!
I love my sewing machines. Singer 66k, Singer 15-91, White 1913 treadle, Pfaff 260, Pfaff 263, Pfaff 1055 (1980's model) and a new Singer fashion mate that was just given to me. I am going to sell the Pfaff's soon due to their weight and not using them as much as the Singer 15-91. So glad you have a 66k they are the best straight stitch machine. I find the older machines are so much more dependable and seem to be the most "user friendly". Very lil' can go wrong with the 66k that cant be fixed by the user. The electrical wiring tends to need replacing before anything else, with my own experiences.
Another wonderful video I loved watching you tidy and organise and I picked up tips and tricks for when I do more sewing once I'm settled in the new house xx
Thank you so much for the amazing tour of TCH sewing room and Victorian Curiosity Shoppe. "A place for everything and everything in its place." BTW, I adore your dragonfly brooch (that you have worn before)...and complimenting eye makeup.
Finally. Cathartic release. I’ve wanted to go into the homes of many many many youtubers, and just...organise. And repaint. And institute a system to keep them happy
Well done. Looks so nice. Something to step into that brings interesting vibes and a decorators dream. I now need to do some organization in my own home.
I had the same intention with baskets I my room. I’m really at critical mass. The problem for me is I don’t have anymore shelf space so have to get some nice storage boxes so at least the clutter can be hidden
I understand your situation completely. Having finished my Phd and amassing the accompanying library, there was an assortment of sewing and crafts stored in my study as well. I finally have the library, office, sewing, writing, painting, embroidery, drawing, jewellery, crocheting, craft room in the space of 3x3 mt. It's packed in like Tetris! And gets messy very easily. It's always a challenge to tidy up after each project when I want to just get on with the next one!
Your video was fun..what a transformation!!!! I don't have patience like you to clean like that..but it does inspire me to try to clean my space..you have nice taste!!!!!😀😀😀😀
Bianca, great video! It was nice having the opportunity to see other parts of your sewing/ studio space. I realize I've shown up late to the party ad this video was posted about a year ago. I'm hoping you'll see and respond to my comment. Do you have a video of your making the plaid suit? I looked in the video notes and comments and didn't see any mention of it. I also quickly looked through the videos on this channel. I'd love to see the video if it's available for viewing. Also, I've been subscribed to yourr channel for awhile now. Yours is my favorite sewing channel. I especially enjoy the videos where you draft, sew, and model your creation. Thanks for the wonderful content! You've inspired me to start sewing again.
Thank you! I made the plaid suit before I started making videos I'm afraid, I talked about it a bit on my blog then though theclosethistorian.blogspot.com/search?q=plaid+suit
That's a lovely result and I really liked that (apothecary core, yes!). But, well, honestly you got an immediate like for using Beethoven. That was a total win.
That was fascinating.I could listen to you all day.Buy one of those long fluffy wands to dust.It won't move or damage your displays and is sooo easfy house
Love that IKEA print! I think the duvet set must be quite popular because it's always out of stock in my IKEA too. I'd love to hear how you're getting on with the 99k; I exclusively use a 1917 99k that's been in my family for years and have no idea how to work more modern machines. It would be interesting to hear about the experience from the viewpoint of an experienced sewist. (The vintage buttonholers are magic!)
I’ve...appropriated a one of my grandmother’s Singer Featherweights, and it is a DREAM, because it’s so simple, and there aren’t any computery things for me to mess up, and it’s portable, and I know what I’m doing!
So far I LOVE the 99K. I had so much fun taking it apart and cleaning/re-oiling bits and fixing the tensioner and playing with it! I'm excited to get to use it more ❤
I think making scrap bags for your Etsy shop is a good idea. Crafters love that kind of stuff! Especially junk journal makers. They use any scrap of anything. LOL! 🤗💕
I know I’m late to the video, it I love going back and rewatching your videos, and I just realised you can donate large-ish scraps to schools to teach students to sew. Home economics classes will love having them To make cushions and things out of. 💚
bravo! i've been doing the same thing during lockdown, organizing and decorating my place and displaying things on my 7 bookcases... you'd be proud of me it looks like disneyland up in here now! as for your plant, plenty of light and don't let it dry out....keep the soil damp and mist the leaves with water every once in a while
That was so fun to watch! To me your sewing room looks delightful, I love all the displays of strange things and the colours - I always want to have some of that antique store vs. witchy vs. old library look in my home and I plan on going a little down that road (but first I need to clean out a lot of crap)... Were there any instructions on how much water that plant needs included with it? I do kill plants very easily myself and what really helps is asigning a day of the week for watering (and to set an alarm for it until you get used to it, especially now since routine seems to be out of wack for a lot of people this year).
You could use some of the bigger scraps to cover the pink IKEA bins?! And would love to see the collar/cuff/muff combo! And the Ace painting is gorgeous.
I adore that Filodendron print! I was gifted the duvet covers and have a length of fabric to turn into a skirt, hopefully for this autumn. This video was exactly the encouragement I needed as I have a week of vacation time coming up and as long as the heatwave doesn't return to northern Germany, it is dedicated to sort out the disaster area I call my sewing room.
@@TheClosetHistorian The duvet covers are their very nice cotton quality. I'd totally use that for a dress and actually have my eye on a different print on the same fabric, just need the right dress pattern to sew with it. So, if you get your hands on the duvet covers, maybe buy two?
We have the exact opposite fear which is a bit hilarious. Im terrified of butterflies and moths but most other bugs are pretty okay,if not a little disturbing
So, i love cleaning and organizing videos and this was super satisfying. That philodendron fabric is gorgeous and if you’re able to get more of it I would cover the chair that you said didn’t match anything!
Thank you Weslyn! Unfortunately while the chair doesn't match my room, it does technically belong out in the rest of my Mom's basement...so I shan't cover it ;)
I found this so inspiring. I love that you just came up with the butterfly ideas and coordinated the wall and jar displays. Plus, highlighting Star Wars is always good in whatever form. I still really want to organize my craft/sewing room better and maybe actually someday decorate it. As I mentioned before (not that you'll necessarily remember), my craft/sewing room has become our foster cat nursery, and currently is the residence of a long-term foster-to-permanent kitty who hasn't been fully integrated into the household, so much sewing/stitching, yarn, and other supplies, etc. are now strewn throughout the house randomly. :sigh:
Aaaah the intro if this video is such a mood, lol. I definitely need to overhaul my computer area, ugh. Until then: carefully placed camera shots. This was fun! I don't know anything about plants, but I do know a bit about sewing for dolls if you wanted any tips for those scraps, lol.
Recreative Denver takes donations of art supplies, sewing notions, and fabric yardage that is 1/2 yard or more! I love shopping there, lately they have private shopping where you make an appointment and shop without other people in the store.
I shall have to look into it! I'm afraid all my scraps are like weird interconnected triangles amounting to not much actual yardage however for the most part
'I could glitterbomb anyone at anytime, so don't mess with me.'
A beautifully crafted warning. I love it. So satisfying to watch things get organized. 💙
To think I have a dozen of those jars or more too... ;)
As a person who has a muff: DO IT! The jokes alone are 100% worth it.
Team maximilist for the win, or as my brother puts it, organised hoarding 😂😂 pretty things make me happy, and the more pretty things around me, the happier I get!
Same, I love stuff 😅
If I can find my stuff, I am happy with stuff.
Bianca: Might as well have cute plague masks.
Me: CORRECT (and I normally make mine to match my dresses)
You would not believe how oddly satisfying I found this video.
"Plague times!" Just the kind of dark humour I expect! 😂
As the second youngest of five homeschooled kids from the mid-90’s to the early 2010’s, cabinets of craft and sewing supplies is a mood, especially considering how much sewing, and creating, and stuff my family does, simply because we can

"victorian dry goods shop owner aesthetic". now that is a good description.
That sounds like such a wonderful time! I love the look of an old pharmacy, or a candy shop made to look like an old pharmacy ha :)
When I saw the thumbnail, I smiled and thought, "Yay!!!!" I love a sewing room organization video! (now if only I would get off my lazy bum and organize my own.)
What I especially liked about this video was how you crafted your aesthetic. It isn't my aesthetic, but the amount of thought and dedication you put into making a room that you spend so much time in feel like your personal space is wonderful. I relate so hard to this video. Nicely arranged “clutter” that is both decorative and useful is my happy place. Seeing the beautiful things I own, especially things I’ve made, makes me incredibly happy. I love seeing how other creative people arrange their spaces to be both functional and #aesthetic.

fabric scraps - donate to local elementary schools. they use it for art projects.
Same thing probably goes for the art supplies!
It's a school "activity" table that my parents have had for decades that I commandeered was all, I'll hopefully have a larger one in my next place!
2 minutes in: I love the background in your videos. Tell them haters to take all the seats they need. 🤨
I'm super into the dusty Victorian apothecary aesthetic and you're doing it so well!
Cover your pink boxes with fabric. Piece favorite scraps together.

Thank you Luci!
There I was procrastinating about clearing up the upstairs back room, but this video was satisfying enough for me to be able to feel I’ve researched the project at hand and now am absolutely nearly positive next weekend will be the weekend the magic happens. 🤣
Good luck 😂
That was a very Lucille Ball facial expression at the beginning of the coffee break. Nice bit of comic relief. LOL
I absolutely lost it at 26:22 thanks to your deadpan delivery. Loved this video to bits.
I watched this while doing some hand sewing and it was the most soothing sewing session ever
I also love that IKEA print. Made myself a wrap skirt out of it. Very fun!
I love those small pieces! I use them for making Victorian crazy quilts!!! I would die for that
This video is so soothing for some reason

I am with you in the "clutter" so many projects with so many little bits to fit together! Love the eyeshadow!
Love it! Your changes all look so good. I am neat freak and an organization lover, so I love seeing people tackling their spaces.

Weird old dusty stuff is absolutely my aesthetic, and having just moved (definitely not still sitting among boxes no not me) I am very upset about not being able to go to thrift shops and antique stores to find new clutter for my space

Tidying after each project is such a good and noble goal!
Your video was fun..what a transformation!!!! I don't have patience like you to clean like that..but it does inspire me to try to clean my space..you have nice taste!!!!!😀😀😀😀
Thank you Cheryl!
Really enjoyed the tour and getting to see you work area! Also really enjoyed your eye look too!
Thank you Janet!
You have a lovely space! Your background looks great. It’s an eclectic vibe. Very you! 👍🏻😊😊
Thank you Elizabeth!
Yes , us quilters love scraps like those....
LOL...so question, do you have any scarab bracelets? I don't like bugs either...lol..
I indeed have bracelets with faux scarabs, but I also have a brooch with a real beetle, which is like exposure therapy for me I guess :)
I honestly never thought about it, but your aesthetic is full on Dark Academia. I love it so much🖤💚❤️💜
Thank you! Should I get on tik tok? I am too old ha!
@@TheClosetHistorian Never to old to try something new, thought about getting it just to see what everyone else are making. People are so creative ♥️
That's a lovely result and I really liked that (apothecary core, yes!). But, well, honestly you got an immediate like for using Beethoven. That was a total win.
I needed the drama ;) Thank you!
bravo! i've been doing the same thing during lockdown, organizing and decorating my place and displaying things on my 7 bookcases... you'd be proud of me it looks like disneyland up in here now!
as for your plant, plenty of light and don't let it dry out....keep the soil damp and mist the leaves with water every once in a while
I sort of want one of those Victorian looking plant misters now ;)
That was so fun to watch!
Thank you! Yeah I'm trying not to drown the plant, I think I tend to overwater...oops!
You could use some of the bigger scraps to cover the pink IKEA bins?! And would love to see the collar/cuff/muff combo! And the Ace painting is gorgeous.
Thank you! I'm afraid I would never have the patience to crazy quilt my bins, I'm far too lazy ha!
This is a fun video! Satisfying and creative. Thanks.
Thank you Elaine!
I died at the cheap price of the lovely fabric!
The butterflies look amazing!
Thank you! So did I really, I couldn't believe it!
I have this duvet cover! It's so pretty
It's such a pretty print! I wish they made it in a dress weight rayon crepe ha ;)
At least around here, thrift stores appreciate donations of fabric, even bags of tiny scraps.
:sigh:
Thank you Leigh-Anne! Having a cat room is also amazing though!
Your very creative and talented. Such an interesting person
Thank you Robina!
