Poor Tusa…. I would love to see her happy one day. I’m cheering for you Tusa!! ❤ Thanks Larry for your videos. I look forward to each and every one of them!!
I don't think Tusa likes Gorillas. Just like those two gorillas in Chiba Zoo, They have to live alone, because they like their zoo keepers better than other gorillas.
She just has to make eye’s at Mokolo, and he gives her all the love and attention she wants. It’s so funny how she is an introvert but when it comes to wanting some love and tender care she just looks at him with those eyes and he’s wrapped around her little finger. After that she’s happiest doing her own thing, Larry told you she likes to paint which absolutely fits her introverted and I can take care of myself attitude. I think since her Mom rejected her and human’s (that’s where she picked up being more vocal) and I agree except when she wants attention from Mokolo, she’d much rather just be by herself. Of course everyone of them have different personalities, so it’s hard to say if she was just born this way but I think it’s a mix of both. Her own personality plus she enjoyed being the center of attention for her first 8 months until she could be reintroduced to the troop at the zoo where she was born. I think Tusa is living life just as she wants it and with Mokolo willing to give her attention whenever she wants it. I’d say she’s a happy lady and loving life. You go Tusa!
Im team Tusa. I wish they would let her paint. I know she was in estrus awhile back. I wonder what happened with that, must not have been productive. I love this family. Jameela and Kunda are adorable. Kayembe is a good brother. Freddie and Kebi are the best moms. Nneka is sweet bonding with her boy. Tusa just seems the odd one out. I still love her and hope she can get more comfortable with this troop.
Kayembe is a hoot! Practicing being like his daddy😂 I swear, it looked like he hugged Tusa after he bopped her. And Jameela! Her coordination is improving for sure!
Oh dear, for some reason 1:06 Freddie is hoot ⚠️ warning at Tusa. Obviously something occurred that we didn't see. In charges Mokolo with a "love tap" on Tusa to bring order. 🤣 1:24 Well Kayembe is learning from his dad alright tapping Tusa on the head too. 2:10 Boy, I tell ya Tusa is one feisty lady and vocalizing like 😠 giving Freddie and Mokolo a piece of her mind, "Why did I get scolded?" Goodness! Mokolo has got his hands full with 4 lovely lady wives. 5:38 😆 Kayembe: You alright Tusa? 6:26 Freddie's watchful eye checking on Kayembe. Thanks Larry, wonderful footage.
It seems like all young gorilla's love that type of ball! Kintaro at the Kyoto zoo in Japan has a blue ball like that while he was growing up and it was by far his favorite toy. Often you would see him sitting on it. It was just like a security blanket. So it's good to see Kayembe and Jameela like the same ball as other gorilla youths. Thanks Larry as always ❤😊
So enjoyable watching them. I bought one of those for my puppy but she got her tooth caught in it that made her cry. I took it away until she got a little older but it seems to be their favorite. She loves it now. 😊thank you, Larry!
Haha. 😂🤣 I know. I found that really cute and very much something a human toddler does with how Kayembe imitated Mokolo quieting Tusa! I really admire Mokolo he is a wonderful, calm, and steady silverback. Keeps calm, quiet order among his troop and doesn’t make too much of it. 🦍♥️
I find it comical that they’re arguing, not literally, but they can’t be doing it over dishes or laundry. Has to be food. I’m betting Mokolo is kind of like the peace keeper. Seems to me he scolded her. Jameela is just absolutely precious and I can’t get enough of her. Kayembe rolling in like he’s going to save the day. I bet Tusa will remember that and will get a smack back to him. I love these videos. Thank you Larry!
Such a precious video, Larry! I can watch Freddie and her children all day long. If I am not mistaken, Kayembie still nurses from time to time. I caught that a few weeks ago in a video released from the zoo. She is one tough mama!

Laying here with a thunderstorm raging outside, watching my favorite gorilla troop eat and climb, bicker and play, is my idea of heaven. Thank you for all the hard work it takes to create these videos for us. You are truly appreciated
It's so interesting to see the difference in Jameela and Kundas personalities. Kebi has her hands full with independent Kunda and Jameela right now is a mommas girl.

Wonderful video. I’ve no doubt the zookeepers really care about the gorilla and take excellent care of them. I just wish there was something that would make Tusa happier and less lonely

Wow - you captured some really interesting interactions there, Larry! I was fascinated to see Kayembe sit with Tusa after all the drama at 1:32 and then when he followed her up to the boulder at 1:48. I’d like to think he was trying to comfort her, but that’s probably going too far and imposing human ideas on the situation. Beautiful video again! The little teddy bear with her blue ball😂, but mommy just keeps walking and Jam's little legs don't go that fast with one hand in Freddy's fur and the ball in the other. In a few months that will go a lot better little girl!💪🏻
It was so good to hear them! Tusa sounded a bit like my mother did the time the neighbors (5) tarantulas got loose and were creeping toward our front door. It's been 60 years and I still remember that sound. Little Kunda reminds me of my daughter when she was tiny. Always climbing. I'd bring her down and she'd go right back up. (I was a tree climber too, way back) They're a lovely family. I enjoy them all. That head tap seems to have calmed her down a bit. Just like human children, young gorillas seemingly mimic the adults they respect the most. They all seem very smart and caring.

Before you said why do gorillas argue, I though well, some human families argue too. Gorillas are so human like. lol at Kayembe rolling down the hill and having to see for himself what’s going on 😂
The person who said, 'Do you wanna go see the real animals?', and the kid answering, 'No, we wanna see THIS', was great. 😂 Larry, bet the folks in TX who cared for Jameela in the beginning are all subscribed to your channel. Poor Tusa. Being the lowest ranked gorilla must not be a picnic. 🩵 (Hope Kayembe doesn't take too much from that Mokolo encounter. ) And Jameela with that ball 🔵 is adorable. They are a pretty content bunch, all told. Here's to peace in the troop. Happy Friday, all. 🌎🌿🦋🐘🦍🦒🖖 #savethegorillas #earthrocks
Sure wish they had an enclosure four times this size. They must need their space at times. I can imagine this working in a human scenario for long. 2 adult females (one for sure pretty darn mature) one big one guy, one young kid, 2 baby/toddlers all around each other 24/7!
Tusa with diffuse hair loss. I’d get her thyroid levels checked and iron, etc. She looks as though her body is fighting something or some deficiency, Bless her. She isolates and wants safety so That’s another sign of feeling unwell, in pain, or feeling weak and vulnerable. They need to investigate further on her behalf.
One of my subscribers (dmoore) has explained that she had the hair loss situation before she left her last zoo - 5 years ago. She happens to be one of those gorillas that has hair loss - and not a vitamin efficiency. But thanks for your concern.
We don't notice the others as much because Tusa was raised by humans. She listened to humans talking and tries to copy that. Gorilla vocal cords are not the same as ours so they cannot speak. Gorillas raised by gorillas grunt and grumble to communicate- Again, Tusa was not raised by gorillas. Tusa screams - that is very different. (Sometime I see N'neka upset because I see her run through the group waving or swinging a branch at others. So others do get upset, just no videographer there to capture it.)
In the video Larry says that something was already going on inside before they came outside, that sometimes still has an effect. Kayembe certainly quickly followed his father to Tusa but fortunately did not repeat Mokolo's behavior. He already copies a lot from Mokolo but fortunately left it at watching😉
Probably Freddy is keeping Tulsa in her place in the hierarchy. Freddy is getting older and real or perceived slights to her position must be dealt within her gorilla society. Not much different than humans although ours is usually less physical. I noticed it wasn't a severe reprimand and after Mokolo struck her lightly, Freddy was gratified. 💛
Tusa was raised by humans. Because she was around humans that spoke, that has influenced how she attempts to communicate. She uses grunts, grumbles and seems eager to show she knows another way to vocalize.
Not sure what happened, was Tusa invading Freddie’s food territory? Kind of feel sorry for her. She’s not friendly with the other gorillas an Freddie is the one who deliberately went after her. Monologue doesn’t seem to care for her either. Interesting dynamics. I’d say Freddie seems to be the dominant female of the group. She’s fierce in so many ways.
I'm still curious to know how they give extra care to her. After all, they're only human. 😊 No one likes seeing an unhappy creature. Here's to peace in their little world.
@@larrysanimalsafari But Tusa never looks happy or included. Mokolo looks out for her, so it's not like she's not family. Larry if you get a chance can you ask them for me if Tusa can be suffering from depression? Gorillas can get depressed right?
Tk here. I dont think tusa belongs here. She is use to interacting with humans. Now she is low person on the totem pole. Does she even understand that?
Hi Larry. What’s that on the left? 11:39 You mentioned something about it in an earlier video having to do with the gorillas arms but what exactly is it for do you know? Thank you, as always for providing these wonderful videos.
I think the staff should give Jemeela a baby doll gorilla to see what happens in the troop. Never seen Freddie show this much emotion, I wonder what the backstory is. Fascinating video, thank you.
I have videos that explain Jameela's birth and why she traveled to Cleveland. I also have individual videos giving the background on each adult gorilla.
I wonder if Tusa is just simply jealous? Maybe she would calm down if she had a baby? Larry, do you know much about Tusa? Has she ever had a baby? Can she still have babies?
@larrysanimalsafari 🤔 probably because the Silverback can only eat certain foods now because of his health. Hmm. Even though they have done it this way for a few years now. And this is a healthy way for everyone now.
I have not heard of any moves planned...Any moves of gorillas is decided by the Gorilla Species Survival Plan members in conjunction with the Assoc. of Zoo's and Aquariums. Generally moves are not announced in advance.

😁. Thanks for watching my videos .

Thank you Argentina! 😁
Another wonderful video, thanks Larry.🦍
Glad you enjoyed it
Truly enjoy his videos. I've learned so much from watching his videos, thank you so very much!
Would it be better for Tusi and family if she joined a different troop? She seems awfully isolated (socially) from the others.
I agree, I feel so sorry for her.😢
Larry said tusa was raised by humans, that is why she stays away from the others, just my thoughts. She probably misses her humans....
Don't know, moving to yet another zoo? How would she fare in another hierarchy in new zoo?
Before you said why do gorillas argue, I though well, some human families argue too. Gorillas are so human like.
lol at Kayembe rolling down the hill and having to see for himself what’s going on 😂
👍😁
The person who said, 'Do you wanna go see the real animals?', and the kid answering, 'No, we wanna see THIS', was great. 😂
Larry, bet the folks in TX who cared for Jameela in the beginning are all subscribed to your channel.
Poor Tusa. Being the lowest ranked gorilla must not be a picnic. 🩵
(Hope Kayembe doesn't take too much from that Mokolo encounter. )
And Jameela with that ball 🔵 is adorable. They are a pretty content bunch, all told. Here's to peace in the troop.
Happy Friday, all.

Thanks for sharing a comment
Yes Larry I l❤ them very much they are a family 😅
👍😁
Sure wish they had an enclosure four times this size. They must need their space at times. I can imagine this working in a human scenario for long. 2 adult females (one for sure pretty darn mature) one big one guy, one young kid, 2 baby/toddlers all around each other 24/7!
Check out the news about the new “Primate Forest “. Will be state of the art habitat.
@@larrysanimalsafari Thank you, I checked it out. It’s a ways away, but hoping all or most of this troop will benefit from it down the road.
One thing i like about Mama Freddie, she's will not let Jameela out of her eyes sight.🌱🌿🦍☘️🌿👍🏽
👍😁
Poor Tusa just seems she's always getting yelled at
Maybe she is just misunderstood? Wrong communication style (human vs gorilla)?
Poor Freddy seems tired… ❤
🤷♂️
🤣. Yes, like a football
There’s nothing wrong with arguing, always going to be disagreements, but the silver back seems to make sure it doesn’t go too far.
😁
They are beautiful I pray that one day they Will live again in their natural habitat just like humans 😢
In the meantime, the international effort to protect and preserve their species is amazing. And their population in the wild has grown.

Oh, I didn't know that. It looks like a safe, fun ball to play with. thanks for sharing a comment today.
Why is Tusa always the one upset. Has anyone seen about her as to why she is always the one upset?? There must be a reason!!
@@larrysanimalsafari Thank you for this information!

Wow. They really ARE like us. (Or we're like THEM.)
Beautiful beings, all.
Do you know why Tusa was so mad? And Kay I saw his rolly Polly body rolling it was so cute he is practicing to be a silverback following dad
No idea why Tusa was mad.
I love Momoko family but the babies steal my heart ❤❤❤❤beautiful video Larry thank so much. I appreciate you be there for us.❤❤❤❤
You are so kind
I feel for tusa
I don’t like to see it because I don’t know why
Even families that are together, have their arguments.
Kaunda is growing up😊
😁
Look at that little climber! 😂😂 She’s a lot like her big brother!❤❤😂😂
Sure is!
@@larrysanimalsafari saw that cap 🧢. My order was shipped today. Can’t wait!

😁thanks
I feel sad for Tusa; she always seems to be on the outside of the troop.
Many viewers feel that way.
Fun❤
Good, glad you liked it.
Penso eu..
Os bebês são adoráveis. 😊
Gorillas naturally have big bellies. Could hers be a bit bigger due to her age? Yes it could. 😁
Thanks for another great video! I'm a recent subscriber so fairly new to watching this troop. Has Tusa had any babies?
No, Tusa has not had any babies. FYI you can check out my playlist of "MEET the Cleveland gorillas" I have a short video on each adult.
Do they know why Tusa screams??
Tusa was raised by humans. Because she was around humans that spoke, that has influenced how she attempts to communicate. She uses grunts, grumbles and seems eager to show she knows another way to vocalize.
Not sure what happened, was Tusa invading Freddie’s food territory? Kind of feel sorry for her. She’s not friendly with the other gorillas an Freddie is the one who deliberately went after her. Monologue doesn’t seem to care for her either. Interesting dynamics. I’d say Freddie seems to be the dominant female of the group. She’s fierce in so many ways.
No concrete answers on why the argument started.
🌿 Hierarchy's such an interesting phenomenon in all species. I watch elephants a lot. How the different genders earn status is fascinating.
Hey Larry, do the keepers say why Tusa seems so unhappy? She is accepted by the troop but doesn't seem to want to be there 😢
Keepers do not comment on interactions except to say, it is normal to see some disagreements amongst the troop member.
I'm still curious to know how they give extra care to her. After all, they're only human. 😊
No one likes seeing an unhappy creature.
Who knows? 🤷♂️
Larry, do you happen to know if Jameela gets supplemental bottle feeding from the keepers in addition to Freddy nursing her?
Yes, Jameela gets supplemental bottle feeding from the keepers.
@@larrysanimalsafari Thanks very much! 😊
Hi Larry. What’s that on the left? 11:39 You mentioned something about it in an earlier video having to do with the gorillas arms but what exactly is it for do you know?
Thank you, as always for providing these wonderful videos.
The rectangular cage looking thing allows a gorilla to place his/her arm/hand in it and allow close/safe inspection of the arm/hand.
I have one recent video dedicated to who Tusa is and it answers many questions about her. (and one for each of the adult gorillas0 look for those.
Hey why no birthday party for Kundra?
Have no idea why no party. Sad
@larrysanimalsafari 🤔 probably because the Silverback can only eat certain foods now because of his health. Hmm. Even though they have done it this way for a few years now. And this is a healthy way for everyone now.
is tusa moving? I hope not its not good i believe to be moving them around, i just believe tusa misses her humans sometimes...
I have not heard of any moves planned...Any moves of gorillas is decided by the Gorilla Species Survival Plan members in conjunction with the Assoc. of Zoo's and Aquariums. Generally moves are not announced in advance.
Poor Tusa. 😢
🥲🤷♂️
What happen?☘️🌿🌱🦍
What happened to who? when? sorry need more info to your question.
Two questions: is the coat on their body considered fur or hair, and is it soft or corse?
I've ready many sources, and seen it both ways. Soft or course? Have no consensus there, and have not asked.
Hi! Mokolo Family🖐🏼❤️😎
