The rolling was so 🥰. Kayembe is learning to be gentle when he has Jameela. Even when he's rolling he doesn't put his entire weight on Jameela. He puts it on his elbows and knees. He's going to be an excellent big brother. I used to get nervous when Kayembe first kidnapped Jameela. Not anymore. If Kayembe goes to high Freddie goes to get baby J 😀.
Reminds me a lot of the Kyoto Zoo's gorilla brothers Gentaro and Kintaro. Gentaro used to "kidnap" his little brother when he was small! Drove momma crazy!

Keyambe was actually pretty careful with baby Jameela. You could see that as he was rolling he wasnt putting all his weight on her at all and as Kunda was trying to grab on to Jameela he was giving her little nibbles on her head to keep Kunda away. He is way more rambunctious as he's running around on his own trying to play with his Aunties. Freddy and the zoo staff have been working with him to be more careful with his younger siblings. Freddy has her hands full with both of her little ones. Im glad Kebi steps in to help keep an eye on the situation..Keyambe is still a baby himself so Kebi stepping in once in a while to help Freddy is amazing ❤

Besides 😳 Mokolo, keeping perfect order charged and sent the command to Freddie to go and get Jameela. These are gorillas. They rough it and tumble. Jameela is learning to balance, use her arm muscles, and shift her body weight to hold onto Kayembe. Babies have a very strong grip. Kayembe is learning to be gentle when he is carrying Jameela, which means he is also learning social skills of gorilla society. Otherwise he's a 2 year old toddler boy with lots of energy, so we can expect him to be rambunctious. 🤔 I do wonder when Kebi will loosen her grib on 1 year old Kunda, but I understand. I could watch Mokolo all day. So laid back and regal until duty calls, and everyone takes note when it happens. I cant wait to see how the relationship develops between Kayembe and Jameela over the years. Hopefully Kebi will allow Kunda to join the Gruesome Twosome one day!
That was too cute! I like that Freddy let's Kayemba interact w/Jameela & that he knows enough to play gently with her. I have to say I think Jameela is gonna be a big girl just by the size of her now! I just want to say thank you Larry & Jameela for giving me a new perspective on gorillas. I was never really into them until I say Jameela (there was just something about her) and because of her I found your channel which I love by the way. You not only film them but you tell us about them & the captions throughout the videos are awesome! It's made me have a greater respect for these gentle great apes like I have for orangutans. So thank you again very much & of course to the gorillas especially the little ones!!😁🥰❤❤❤❤
Thank you Greg, your videos are a blessing to me, especially that cheeky little lad Keyembe as he does make me laugh. $18.00 dollars sent via PayPal for a couple of coffees to show my appreciation buddy 👍🏼 Paul-UK
Kayembe is filled with joi de vivre! I think of many things I'd get done with just a tiny bit of that energy and enthusiasm. I love your channel, Larry. This family inspires me! Those little girls are so lucky to have Kayembe to play with them, and watchful mothers who both care for them and are keeping them safe. And the beautiful silverback getting his beauty rest! Love it 🦍💗
The arm cage is also so they can draw blood to run labs and can be used for checking their blood pressure. So they don’t have to use a tranquilizer on them. It’s safer this way. Lots of zoos around the world use these. They make it part of training. Super cool!!
It would be wonderful if the spectators would respect the gorilla's home! All day long, every day the gorillas have to listen to that racket while they are in that tiny enclosure. How many acres is their enclosure. I love this family, they are very special but the people are too close to them and too loud. If they want to be outside and enjoy the fresh air, they have to put up with that noise. It's not fair to the gorillas. I know everyone thinks the zoo is so wonderful and they can do no wrong but I think they can do better. There are 8 gorillas in this tiny space on display. Thank you Larry for the video of this beautiful family but it breaks my heart that the zoo thinks this is ok for them. 💔
@@judithhstevens126 thank you so much for sharing but this family can't pick up and move when they want to. They don't have that luxury, they are stuck with screaming kids.

Great video! Kayembe has so much energy! He really is a little mini me to Mokolo! He looks just like him. Mokolo is really on top of the dynamics with his family! Not much gets by him. I am less worried about Jameela when Kayembe steals her because I watched Bigira's daughter Nafi who is a miracle. Her mother was disinterested very early and she had older brothers - much older than Kayembe who were so rough with her that it truly is amazing she lived through it. Very early she had to learn to keep her mother in her sights and walk under her, but it didn't always work. Freddie must be exhausted with two kids! 💛

Very interesting dynamics in these clips. Kebi is so much more protective than Freddy here. Could Freddy need a break after being a mom of two at 50 years old? I agree with the crowd that mikolo had had enough of Kayembe.
Agree 👍🏽 I totally Respect Fredrika’s Wisdom and Experience with **Child Rearing** but it’s my Opinion she’s making a MISTAKE being Too Lax with Kayembe!!! He’s Rambunctious and MISCHIEVOUS, and one wrong JUMP or POUNCE on TOP of wee little Jameela can Accidentally Result in her skull being crushed or a limb broken!!! I don’t think it’s Cute and I’m really not Enjoying watching these type Videos. Instead, the Entire time I’m Holding My Breath and PRAYING 🙏🏽 nothing bad happens. Sorry for the long Reply 😊
@@renewashington791I have never seen this happen before. I didn’t even see where she was. I think maybe she was really in a deep sleep. She has done her time plus as a mom!
I need to catch up. Actually, kayembe is not really that bad compared to how Kintaro was getting dragged around by Gentaro in Japan. It seems like Kay is being quite gentle with Jameela. It’s very clear how much she loves her. Anyway, they’ll grow before we know it and he’ll have someone to play with. He’ll always have to be a little bit gentle, but I think he’s going to be good to his sisters.
Larry, this may be my favorite video of the Mokolo family gorillas! I adore Jameela and Kunda of course, but seeing the dynamics of the group here is so nice! Cool hearing you talk a couple times too! 😁 Before I say more about them, there were a coyple things the mom near you said that really bugged me. Telling her kid Kayembe wasn't "nice" because he was going around hitting the adults...what exactly did ahe expect him to do? Walk up, politely ask if they would play with him please? Cause we all know perfect sentence structure is key for toddler gorillas 🙄 I wanted to tell her, he would absolutely do that if he was a young gorilla. Then, her or another woman, assuming Mokolo was fussing at Kayembe when it was N'neka getting the warning. I get that not everyone is into nonhuman primate behavior, but on a whole, we shouldn't go to zoos and expect animals to behave like people. Thats ridiculous. I understand now why you use music. But it was fun hearing the thumps and rustles they make moving around. Getring to see Mokolo do his silverback duties of maming sure everyone is ok was awesome. That all he had to do was stand up, take a couole steps, maybe grunt (I heard a lady say he grunted), and both N'neka and Kayembe basically froze! Also watching how patient he is with Kayembe's rambunctious, 2 1/2 year ild acting like he mainlined sugar self was a lesson of let kids be kids all parents use. It really was nice seeing Freddy allow some sibling bonding. Kayembe was surprisingly gentle and kept Jameela safe! Feddy knows her babies! 🩵 Even if it went on maybe a little longer than she wanted lol. I can't wait to see the 3 ittles in another 6 months. I bet Freddy lets Jameela play with her brother and sister a lot more freely than Kebi does Kunda now! Truly great footage here Larry! Hope you had a great weekend! Oh, who's Barb? Not anything identifying like full name, address, etc, but does she have a channel too? Or simply a fellow gorilla lover?
Thank you. Yes, it was my interpretation that Mokolo was not happy with N’neka’s change in posture and as she reached for Kayembe. Barb is a person I met who visits the zoo as a guest like I do. She does not have a channel but is an animal lover too and likes to record and share interesting things she sees with her friends. She is gracious and allows me to share some videos she takes. I have always identified her clips. Examples Sloth bears, grizzly bears, off hand I don’t recall the 1or 2 gorilla videos.
Kayembe is a fiesty energetic little boy lol, has all the adult gorillas on their toes. Not sure why Freddie allowed him to have baby so long an interesting to see Kebi saying take care of your child an Momoko up right away a displaying telling her to do something or I will lol. Interesting

Kayembe's energy is boundless. Though not appreciated today when the adults were trying to nap. Kayembe is a toddler who just wants to play. And play he did with Jameela. The rolling was fun to watch, and Kayembe took care with his precious cargo, Jameela.
He certainly does that, and gorillas are so strong and flexible that they cannot be compared to us humans. Kayembe is really loving with Jameela and I don't think we have anything to worry about.
I am curious when Kayembe starts hitting and throwing things at the female adult gorillas, they don't do anything. We already know dad probably won't step in, you know he likes to chill most of the time.
Ah, but dad does step in when needed. It’s hard to show Mokolo’s attentiveness in each video. But those of us who are there more regularly see it when he steps in to control behaviors. Most of the time all he needs to do is stand up and then we see the adult females Freeze - stopping whatever they are doing.

Often saw Gentaro dragging his little baby brother by the arm through the country house, running. Kintaro has never broken an arm 😄, Jameela is already such a small strong gorilla, will definitely be fine

Jameela looked like she was having a good time.
😁
Fred is awesome, she give time to Kaymbe to play with Jameela, but still is on distance.
😁
It's so cute how Kayembe plays with Jameela and aunt Kebi keeps an eye on Jameela too!
👏😁
I could watch Mokolo all day. So laid back and regal until duty calls, and everyone takes note when it happens. I cant wait to see how the relationship develops between Kayembe and Jameela over the years. Hopefully Kebi will allow Kunda to join the Gruesome Twosome one day!
👏😁

Love it 🦍💗
Thank you
The arm cage is also so they can draw blood to run labs and can be used for checking their blood pressure. So they don’t have to use a tranquilizer on them. It’s safer this way. Lots of zoos around the world use these. They make it part of training. Super cool!!

I LOVE Nneka!
👏👏😁
But they live in a small troup
If you watch videos on wild organization
You will see they stay in small places together.😊
It’s ironic that Cleveland has been a pioneer institution for gorilla husbandry and the gorilla enclosure is no better than Kyoto.
@@judithhstevens126 thank you so much for sharing but this family can't pick up and move when they want to. They don't have that luxury, they are stuck with screaming kids.
@@shawna6683 thank you so much for sharing and yes Kyoto is very cramped also. Maybe check out Taipei zoo or San Diego zoo or San Diego zoo safari park.
Deveriam providenciar algo como no zoo de Taiwan. Bastante espaçoso e com muita área verde.
Keyembi had his drink spiked!! He’s relentless! But adorable ! He wants someone to play with. And the other wee ones are still too young!

Glad you enjoyed it!
I spy Kayembe kissing his captive, Jameela!! Well...he's a sweet kidnapper!!
🤣😘
Thank you so much for the marvelous video Larry 😊
You are very welcome
To clarify - Jameela is so much more protected and looked after. Soon they will be playing together nonstop.
Thanks for sharing that info about another troop in a similar situation. 👋😁
Did I read it right that they're building a new (bigger) outside enclosure for them?
Seems quiet small there for everyone😮😊
Também acho muito pequeno esse recinto.
A new “primate forest” will be built for gorillas and orangutans.
Ainda bem. Esse espaço é muito pequeno para eles.
@@angelaalbuquerque5996Yes! Can't wait to see the new Primate forest. They will have lots if greenery and so much more space 😉😉

Kayembe is so bored today and nobody will play with him!😂❤
😁
Kayembe is being a little rough with Jameela. I saw him on another clip and he was being as usual too aggressive with her. Time for more training with him. I'm so afraid one of these times of jumping down on her will injure her..😌
😁

You the man Larry! Great content..😎
I appreciate that - thank you
I need to catch up.
👍😁
Yeah Gentaro treated Kintaro bit rough but Kintaro grew up strong. Jameela will do fine too, I am sure the moma's are keeping an eye as well.
Sometimes I wish the zoo would put a microphone near the family so we can hear their sounds. Every now and then, at least.
Me too.
The background commentary is cracking me up 😂
😁
Hi, Larry. Does Mokolo interact with baby jameela?
Larry, this may be my favorite video of the Mokolo family gorillas! I adore Jameela and Kunda of course, but seeing the dynamics of the group here is so nice! Cool hearing you talk a couple times too! 😁
Before I say more about them, there were a coyple things the mom near you said that really bugged me.
@@larrysanimalsafari thats incredibly kind of her! Please tell her thank you, her footage was amazing, and very appreciated 🩵
Kayembe is a fiesty energetic little boy lol, has all the adult gorillas on their toes. Not sure why Freddie allowed him to have baby so long an interesting to see Kebi saying take care of your child an Momoko up right away a displaying telling her to do something or I will lol. Interesting
😁
How safe is Jameela she is just few months old and the head is soft to be wrestled on hard rocks. So afraid of her to get head injury.Kunda is well protected
So far so good. They seem pretty tough.
Poor Gorillas..Can’t people be quiet such loudmouths .
disrespectful
🤷♂️
Do the gorillas hear all those people yelling? Or are they behind soundproof glass?
If you don’t see a mesh fence then they are behind thick glass.

@@Catwomanria13579 I agree. Jameela seemed to enjoy time with her big brother. It's wonderful to see her so thoroughly integrated with the troop.
@@seasonsofphilly1993 Yes I agree. She has the best with Freddy and Kayembe as her mother and brother. A lot of enjoy of this troop follows!👍🏻

😁
I am curious when Kayembe starts hitting and throwing things at the female adult gorillas, they don't do anything. We already know dad probably won't step in, you know he likes to chill most of the time.
Ah, but dad does step in when needed. It’s hard to show Mokolo’s attentiveness in each video. But those of us who are there more regularly see it when he steps in to control behaviors. Most of the time all he needs to do is stand up and then we see the adult females Freeze - stopping whatever they are doing.
