I try to only paint when I want to, not when I feel I have to.

If I have a large amount of models to paint I put them all away except 3-5, paint those to tabletop standard then put them on the shelf and get 3-5 more out. For me it's to not get overwhelmed by looking at a huge pile of grey plastic.
