theres also a RD6006P version now available with a linear reg on the output and better adc / dac's for higher resolution and less ripple/noise

I agree, the relay thing is crazy, not to mention the potential for contact bounce/arcing/damage (due to large output caps).

19:28 - limitation to 2.4GHz is not really Riden fault but rather Espressif and if you have IoT devices at home, most of them are 2.4GHz only

What is the best oscilloscope that you have in your lab right now?

    • @KerryWongBlog
      @KerryWongBlog  3 года назад

Well, I'd say the Tetronix 2465. I have an old Rigol DS1052E, but I rarely use it (only using it for capturing some digital waveforms).

I think location permission on android is needed for network discovery. It's an android limitation, I had the same problem with an app to control my receiver over the network.

what powersupply do you recommend for the RD6018? i only find the 800W one for the 6012 but no 1100W for 6018 thats capable of 65V.
a relay board to switch on the main powersupply when hitting the power button for the RD series would be nice so it can be in standby without the main 800-65 psu consuming 10..20W for nothing.

@@gamerpaddy in our shop there is a 1000W PSU, it is 68V 17A output at 220V AC input, it can let RD6018 full output, but it is 68V 14.7A (about 1000W) at 110V AC input, so it cannot let RD6018 full output, please set the power limit to 950W in RD6018 setting. It can be placed in S800 case.

Thank you, it's a nice look at the RD6012. Most likely just me, but I personally think the none customisable UI of lab PSU's is awkward at best and downright frustrating at worst.
It's only a minor thing I guess. Users just want to dial in Volts, Current requirement and press go, it's not a problem.
I'm one of those oddities though. I used to work for Farnell Instruments back in the 80's (13 years)
I have a pet SMPS's project I've been working on, casually for years.
It's one of those "never finished" projects. Rubbish coder as I am, playing with the source code as a hobby is fun. Weird stuff like, Touch UI and RS232 control.
I was thinking about adding voice synthesis next. But I should maybe move on... Voice synthesis would be far more useful hacked into one of my DVM's.

Hi Nick, I agree that the UI is not as intuitive or as well thought out as it could be. They really need a UX designer on this...

These units are a strange mix of cheap and crappy components, with some higher end stuff like precision op-amps and 24 bit A/D's. In spite of the not so great performance (huge output filter caps with high ripple), the circuit is somewhat over engineered anyway? For the money, well....? but I would never use it.

    • @FanPhys

You can't really compare a cheap PSU like this with the performance of units costing ten times the price. These Riden units are perfect for hobbyists.
