Very well explained. I had Maruti AMT and Honda CVT as well and experienced the same. CVT performs far better on hills when compared with AMT. CVT transmission is linear and it doesn't disappoint you provided you are a calm driver and not too aggressive.
You clearly convey message to go for CVT. Honda future in India doubtful, no new cars launches , they just trimming their folio. I chose Baleno AGS over Honda Amaze.

I am going in for the Amaze CVT vx petrol. Honda is changing it's portfolio. Honda is launching the next gen Amaze in 2024 and it's Creta rivaling SUV is launching later this year, with an advance strong hybrid power train on offer, which the competition isn't the best on. So Honda's here to remain bro. Rest ofcourse is upto you. I didn't go for Baleno coz all my friends who owned it, sold it off due to it's poor build quality. So to each, their own.

420 L boot space, CVT with paddle shifters, iVTEC engine and ample space in the car makes Amaze amazing 😊.

Bhai I feel you are a bit biased towards CVT. I did a test drive of both the cars you've mentioned. Amaze is not a stable car at all. Baleno Alpha AMT is the better choice with so many features for an extra 50k on road.
I was thinking of the same...but amaze can be stabilized with spring tensioners and a little offset mag wheel. I like baleno too. But frankly...amaze is better in terms of safety(no competition to baleno in features as my swift zxi 2006 has the same features like a 2023 amaze leaving Body length, cvt transmission and led headlights)...but strength cant be got after market. So may still go in for amaze or altroz dca.

you are primarily addressing people in metros and cities..what is the use of telling us about hilly and mountainous regions..fior example i live in Mumbai and for me Baleno is any day a better option. very occasionally i will drive on highways also..i drove the Honda amaze CVT - it is a beauty but then it is a fuel guzzler also in city.

every sedan will touch! even the baleno will touch in this condition! I own amaze and under full load it dont touches on small breakers but if it is a large one it will! but the over all handling under full load is way better on amaze vs baleno !

My Question is I'm planning to purchase an AMT car below 8L replacing my Santro for complete city driving. How important is hill hold assist feature for city driving. I don't see this feature available in cars below 10L. Can I consider buying either Tiago/Grand I 10 Nios or should I consider purchasing Toyota Glanza as it has hill hold control feature. Mileage and safety is my priority. Please give your opinion. Thanks in Advance
All Maruti AGS/AMT car comes with hill hold assist
Glanza would be a better option if you are planning to use for more years as tiago might feel cramped in space after a few years plus suzuki reliability alomg with the hill hold function

Don't ever compare cvt with amt, amt is for ladies and old age people.
Driving enjoyment will not be there with amt.
I even have Nexon amt but keeping covered all the time due to poor driving joy.

I think Honda Jazz is the only option you have now.. that too for few more time as it's production has been stopped. Not sure about Nissan magnite.
Incomplete information. You should also mention that AMT gearbox can be operated manually in tiptronic mode and generally gives way better mileage in b2b traffic.

City 4th gen is a better product than Amaze as u get 1.5 l ivtec engine while in amaze u get 1.2 l petro ivtec
If you want automatic car then amaze, if you're okay with manual transmission then 4th gen city

I20 doesn't have CVT, it's DCT. Performance wise DCT is better, but it is costly to maintain and gives comparatively less milage.
i20 sports has ivt which is same as CVT
