To say that Real Madrid was Franco's team and Barca was a team of left wing politics is over simplistic. First of all, Franco was an Atletico Avion (now known as Atletico Madrid) supporter. He just used RM as a propaganda machine after they won their 2nd European Cup. And if you really look at it, though Barca were separatists from Spain's perspective, they also represented right wing Catalan politics. It really was just a clash between Spanish Nationalism and Catalan Nationalism.
I don't even think so. There have always been thousands of people all over Spain who are Barça fans. This represent nationalisms only for nationalists.
Which represented, and that was one of the main reasons of the rivalry, was the capital's team against an oppresed region's one, during Franchoism.
Mark Lapeña they don’t mention that Franco saved Barca from bankruptcy and they condecorarle him with two medals and made him a honorary member of the club . Pure propaganda fed to unsuspecting foreigners who don’t have a clue about the reality. Barca as any club / business in the world align themselves to the people in power , they are no different but seems like many people believed the whole shebang snd truly believed this team were freedom fighters .😂

This show just went to the top of my list. I mean this is just perfection. Honestly wasnt expecting much but i love the format of the entire thing. The history, perspective of different fans. So proud to be a part of the copafam.
The real Clásico it's an everyday thing here in Spain, don't take ''El Clásico'' as just a match, because yeah, nowadays, the passion in the stadium has just dissapeared, but the real clásico is played everyday on the news, on the streets, when you go to work or class and chat with your mates, no matter which team they support, everybody here in Spain tends to like more one of the clubs than the other. It is still a political thing, it is still a social matter here in Spain, obviously not on the pitch, but on the streets, where the real supporters for both teams are, not people from china or united states or whatever, which I don't have any problem with, but let's be serious, those aren't real supporters. If you want to feel the passion in the Clásico, you have to go to the little bars and pubs all around Spain, packed up with supporters of both teams, no matter where in Spain you are. There is a saying here in Spain that talks about ''the two Spains", the two Spains that lead to war back in the XX century, and that no matter what news, politicians, etc. try to hide it, it is still there, will always be, that's just the way we are, and that saying, and that feeling, nowadays, is represented by Real Madrid vs Barcelona. So when foreign people say there is no passion in ''El Clásico'', no, there is no passion at the camp nou, or the bernabeu, there is no passion in the stadiums, but on the streets, on the bars, wherever you go in the authentic Spain, there is a whole lot of passion

@ A veces en estos medios guiris se sobresimplifica El Clásico y en general la realidad española en exceso. A veces parece efectivamente que los del Madrid son todos franquistas y los del Barça indepes. Joder, a veces incluso parece que los madridistas son 'los españoles' y los culés 'los catalanes', dándole una especie de tinte étnico-nacional (como si yo que se, Catalunya fuese Vigo y 'España' A Coruña y entre ellas hubiera ese tipo de rivalidad) que mal que les pese a algunos realmente no hay (cuántos coruñenses del Celta conoces? Casi nadie, no? Bien, y ahora, cuántos andaluces, extremeños... del Barça? Exacto, mogollón. Pues ya dirás...).
De todas formas aquí, dentro de la simplificación, por lo menos le han dado unos matices. Ahí está Sid Lowe diciendo que no todo es blanco/negro, o bueno, en el mismo vídeo la política del propio Barça aunque se intuye no queda del todo clara (uno dice que es el equipo de los nacionalistas, otro que es el de la gente de izquierdas...). Y bueno, el comentario de Mario Royo no está mal aunque creo que ahora la rivalidad es más deportiva que otra cosa salvo para algunos.

First off, thank you Copa90 for producing this beautiful look at el Clasico. This was great to watch. Very well put together. My only criticism is that it's only 15 minutes long and we only got to see a Clasico in Barcelona. I'd also be interested in seeing the Bernabeu and Madrid on the day of a Clasico.

You guys just missed one of the best games I've seen in my life. Historical, today's Lisbon Derby it will be spoken about for a long time!. Benfica 4-3 Sporting, after 120 mins of intense and top quality football. Where both teams played with pure passion and love for the shirt. And an absolutely amazing atmosphere in the stadium, it was beautiful to watch. As a Benfica fan, I was about o have a heart attack at any moment. Just for you to get an idea, SPORTTV's commentators usually lack emotion, today, they were having orgasms. I wish you guys had gone there. I've been following football truly since the 2009/2010 season, and I'd say this was the best game I've ever seen. A round of 32 game of the Portugal Cup between two teams who have been rivals for more than 100 years, that felt more like a final of a big competition. Today was just true example of what football is all about.

True that. Im barcelona born and modern football killed our fan base mate. Camp Nou is full of clueless tourists these days... who actually give a f*ck about the team and the real fans are outplaced plus the ultras and hooligans groups were banned from the stadium in 2003 (11 years with anyone in the stadium to lead the atmosphere). Thats why our stadium is a cementery. Worst atmosphere in Europe hands down.

Here in Spain we have a lot derbies that don't have the same attention that El Clasico has, like Andalucia's derby, Galician derby, and many more. You should do a video about any other Spanish Derby, they all have some interesting stuff to see.

I literally can't watch an MLS game. I mean Toronto FC isn't bad, but here in Canada, all they care about is hockey. I'd rather be watching a football game rather than a 'soccer' game if you know what I mean.

I just love how now, in 2018, Barcelona's true "values", better, true colors how shown; self victimization and hypocrisy. "Madrid just go around the world buying the best players, our best players are homegrown"; Villa, Ibrahimovic, Rakitic, Suarez, Neymar, Coutinho, Dembele etc were all home grown talents. A member from their current board of directors once said, "If we spent 200 million on a player or two we would all have to quit the next day". Yet they've spent 300 million on Dembele and Coutinho. Everything said in this video by Real Madrid fan's about Real Madrid still stands to this day. We have built our entire glorious history based on one word "winning" (no charlie sheen), and we don't get hung up on how we do it; possession, counter attacking, high press, parking the bus, down the middle, out the wings and crossing, with home grown players or with foreigners, it doesn't matter to us. Bernabeu laid out the blueprint for us to follow, we need to win and we need the best players to do so.

I have to disagree. Just because the magnitude of this games transcends city/country/continent/ lines does not make it any less passionate. If anything it makes it more amazing. People save money all year along to travel long distances and make time in their lives to be there and support the team they love. That is passion! PASSION has nothing to do with being a local, Passion is feeling the love for your team no matter the distance or what nationally/color/ or economic background you come from. That my friend, is Passion, and this game has more of it worldwide than any other event on this planet.
