I expected this "interview" to be a complete waste of time, but I wanted to know who the other choice for host was. After watching this interview, it was actually insightful learning about what she talked about. There was a lot of stuff I didn't know as a Big Brother fan.
I KNEW it was Meredith Vieira before I even watched this video (who I love), but Julie Chen-Moonves IS Big Brother, and as someone pursuing journalism and a fan of BB I will always look up to her :)
Meredith is a pretty good host for shows like "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" but Julie Chen's voice and presence are perfect for Big Brother.

I'm a early riser and watched Julie each morning on the CBS Morning News at 4am , when she was announced as the host of Big Brother I was excited to watch. She is the ultimate Host for the show.

Julie was wrong about the price of the feeds during the early years. SuperPass, which was what is was called and streamed through " RealPlayer", was like 30 or 40 dollars a month!
So the real story is they couldn’t find a host they offered it to Julie she said no and they basically threatened to fire her so she had no choice but to take it

This actually happens a lot in showbiz. Lots of the producer's "first picks" never are cast and they're given to alternates. But many times these alternates make the show great, possibly better than the top choice. I used to watch Dynasty(1980s), and never knew all the roles of the central characters weren't the producers first picks,
Besides the upcoming 25th season, do you think this interview also doubled a response to the controversy of BBCAN’s “Digital Dailies” instead of “Live Feeds”, basically saying, without saying, that the live feeds are here stay in the US?

I'm glad Julie Chen pointed out one of the main reasons why Big Brother 1 was a flop that nobody else will point out about Big Brother paling in comparison to Survivor.
it is a matter of what show went first, in most countries, Big Brother went on air first and it shaped their idea of what reality TV should be. However, the opposite was the case in the US with Survivor being the first to get on air, so Survivor dictated what "reality TV" should be, and the American Big Brother unfortunately had to succumb to what Survivor laid out. That's why Big Brother US is such a different format to the rest of the Big Brother franchises worldwide.
I thought she got the hosting gig because she was married to the president of CBS when the first episode aired.
Well, now you know the real truth. Because saying that *"she got it because of Les Moonves"* are just projecting their damn feelings and not understanding the real reason she got the job as she says *HERE.*

I actually stopped watching Big Brother BECAUSE of Julie Chen. Every season she just got worse and worse. Just loves to hear HERSELF talk. Won't give the players 30 seconds when they need it, but will "recap" the same exact thing multiple times - to hear herself talk. And when you make the same joke like 4 times...have to point out that you are kidding each time...and STILL nobody laughs? Obviously you're not funny, and not very good at reading a room. I recently found out there is a Big Brother: Canada with a different host - and she is sooooo much better!!!
