I've been following him for afew years, he's genuinely a genius. He needs to tour schools to show that having ADD or ADHD can give you such a lot of creativity if you learn to channel it.

As someone with likemind autism/AD genes I have channeled my creativity into other fields and I definitely concur. Kids really don't get enough real diverse rolemodels to channel their quirks towards actual useful results. I only had a handful of those in my life and I'm grateful for that, but I surely could have used a whole lot more in my early life. Oh well you have to deal with the cards you have been given in life.
You can see that he's actually living the point he's trying to make. He's so nervous and absolutely off track. But that's when the magic happens. I think his biggest problem was to pick just a few things to talk about out of _all the things_ he *wants* to talk about, since 15 minutes is practically no time at all if you're passionate about something.
Sam is a scatter-brain.... as I can relate to. I'm sure he's thinking about his next creation while talking about what he's already done... but his completed accomplishments aren't the focus anymore.
You got a standing ovation Sam. You deserved it. You might have been nervous about doing this talk (since you said you procrastinated and it was fear that made you procrastinate), but you did amazing. Sam...Youre brilliant. Your brain may have its problems (I also have ADHD and experience a lot of hyperfocus...on everything but the thing im supposed to be doing...), but you have used it to your benefit in such a beautiful way. You deserved that standing ovation because you have an amazing brain, a double edged sword that youve learned to use so incredibly well. Thank you for sharing yourself, thank you for helping me think maybe my own brain isnt just broken and useless, and thank you for helping inspire me in my own music. @@basielu you really dont have to be diagnosed with it. Im diagnosed with adhd from when i was very young but it really does not change anything. You can just say you have it if you really want to.
It's funny to watch how people change their reactions through this talk. Most people at the beginning just look at him like he's certifiably crazy, still have that expression until about 75% of the way through where they're starting to get intrigued, but once that last couple minutes hits, they're hooked and he's earned that standing ovation completely. Powerful communication does not come from elegant words; powerful communication comes from honest enthusiasm.

At the beginning it was basically like 1,000,000 individual points that seemingly have no connection to each other; as the talk goes on, it starts to form a general trend; and by the end it has all come together into a mindblowingly powerful message. This is the ultimate example of order from chaos. I'm glad I found this talk when I did, because I've been watching all of Look Mum No Computer's content since.

@@1pcfred Ah see that's the thing, I find medication really helps me channel that creative part of myself! Yeah, I still have the tangential train of thought and the out there ideas but medication means I can actually see more of those mad ideas to fruition. Some people do great without medication, some people thrive even further on it. :)

Genuine talk from Sam. I only saw one video of his before I found this. I would feel the same way about procrastination. I have something important to do and then all of a sudden I find the urge to create. All of it to avoid the thing I was supposed to do.
LMNC / Sam explains the feeling of procrastination so well that I stopped working on something that I shouldn't have been working on, while leaving the thing that I'm procrastinating on untouched.
His RUclips channel shows Sam to be an excellent musician, a talented practical electrical and mechanical engineer, and a fantastic educator. He did a video series that was in the style of a 90's educational show for kids, and it's a masterpiece. He has a museum dedicated to preserving old and discarded technology. He has refurbished and added midi control to a church organ... He is a genius who shares it with us.
