LONG RANGE FOX SHOOTING || 477m Kill-Shot || 19 Down

- Lots of long range fox shooting in this video. Dropping foxes with the Sako .223 at some insane distances. Managed a new personal best with a 477m kill-shot and yes, it's on video.
The ballistics calculator in this HikMicro thermal scope is a total game changer.
I'm with a good mate of mine for this contract which is at a commercial chicken farm situated on 2000 acres in southern NSW.
Open, rolling hills with little cover and a full moon made our task very challenging.
With the full moon lighting up the paddocks and our vehicle, the foxes were very flighty and extremely difficult to get close to.
Running thermal on the roof was definitely an advantage in locating them out past 1km however closing to within my preferred shooting distance of sub 200 metres was near impossible.
Fortunately, the HikMicro Panther V2.0 PQ50L thermal scope that I'm running has a laser rangefinder and built in ballistics calculator.
Having already spent several hours on the range earlier that day, setting up the ballistics and getting the rifle dialed in at 300m. I was now confident enough in my gear to stretch the legs on the Sako .223 and do some long range bombing of these invasive pests.
Several foxes fell victim to the new long range varmint killer at distances well over 300m. With 2 amazing killshots taken at 405m and 477m being the highlight of the night.
Having total confidence in your gear is everything.
All together we managed a total of 19 foxes for the night.
Big shout out to my mate Ian for all your help, opening gates, collecting the foxes and cooking a mean breakfast. You're a champion mate. Can't wait to head back down there and do it all again. Развлечения
Welcome back Rod. Exceptional marksmanship mate. Enjoyed that.
Thanks champion. 👊
477 meter shot is sensational. Nice work Rod!
Thanks champion. As you probably heard in the video, I was pretty chuffed 😉👊
Shit hot Rod! 477m with a .223, Well Done! That’s a hell of a lot of flight with a near metre of drop. Mate that’s gotta go Straight to the Pool Room!!! 😂
Outstanding accuracy as normal by you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Paul. I think I'm getting there. 😉
Stretching out very well.
Love the lrf and ballistics

Certainly do mate. Thanks 👌
Great vid Rod and even better shooting mate, very impressive, cheers Yogi 🤙✌️
Thanks legend. 👊
Been watching your videos for a while now and must say you have good rifle skills and you don't spend too much time talking yourself up like some others do. Well done from Bury Lancashire England 👍
Thanks mate. Much appreciated.
I just like sharing what I do and try to have some fun in the process. 👌
Really enjoying your videos mate, thanks for making the effort. Great shooting. You've really dialled that rig. Doesn't happen by accident. Cheers PP
Hell of a shot on the last one Rod, Well done on another fantastic video 👍
Thanks buddy, took a few hours on the range and a fair bit of tweaking to get it bang on. Thrilled with the nights results with it though.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Thankyou
First time viewer Rod 🙂.
That was some awsome shooting.
I will have to look at a HikMicro thermal scope.
Thanx.
Thanks Richard. Welcome to the channel mate👌
What an awesome Chanel. Such a professional hunter, very impressive. Thank you. New Sub from England 🤜🏻🤛🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Much appreciated mate. Thankyou 👍
Another great vid.👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
Nice Shooting and Vid Rod, Lot of work in it all. 👍
Always pretty involved Kevin but I wouldn't have it any other way 👌
Amazing video, got me stuffed how you keep it so still. Especially at those longer distances. Great work 👍
Thank you my boy.
Need to get out there with me and I'll show you 😉
WOW !!!
Amazing shoots champ, well done.
Thanks heaps mate.
Awesome video, congrats on the PB at 477M 👏👏👌👍

Cracking shot , a metre of drop ! Pukka😊
Thankyou mate 👊
Good to see you back, getting bore of the other EotO, hahaha, not really. Really impressive shooting. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I know, been a month since my last vid. Hard to juggle all the shooting and the editing. I have a couple more vids in the works atm mate👌
Great marksmanship as usual
Keep up the good work buddy
Cheers Darren 👊
Heaps of clean shots/kills impressive!
Thanks Craig 👊
congrats, top shot 💪🏻
Thankyou 👊
I was interesting to see how quickly bullet drop increases beyond 300m with .223. I like the ballistic calculator!
Me too mate. Drops more than one would expect once you get out past 300m. Especially with a 60m zero
Congrats on your PB awesome work
Thanks Mark 👊
👌👏👏👏
Cheers mate 👊
Plenty of rain here in the UK mate, help yer self....!!! Great video as always.
Yeah I bet.
We have an East coast low just about to hit us, so it looks like we'll be pretty wet for the next few days. Thanks for watching 👍
My GAWD man, 500 plus shots with a FUKKIN 233? Unreal!!
Thanks, certainly a productive night mate. 👌
Good hunting amigo, from Vancouver Island, CA
Thanks mate. Glad u enjoyed it. 👊
That's nuts. Fantastic audio as well. Thanks for the work on your vids. Would be nice for Hikmicro to sort the audio on some of their other products (Falcon for one).
Totally agree. Hence why I'm working with them to improve audio. Glad you enjoyed the vid mate.
Great content as always Rod. When will we see the Taipan X in action ?
Nice work
Thanks 👊
Some great marksman stuff here Rod. I could hear the wind in your mike at the start of this video, so i knew you were going to have a few issues to start with, but then with the moon out and all. What ranges you were shooting at was brilliant. Another great Video Rod, much appreciated. Just one thing?
Shame there wasn't a big black panther about to nail mate..
Haha.
There's always next time mate. 🤞
💗💗💙💙💚
What a cracking night out Rod. Pinpoint accuracy as usual from both of you.!
I've used a 223 for years and love it, I've recently started using a .17 Rem too ( think they were the go to rifle in Australia for years when pelts were valuable, am I right in thinking that.?)
It's a great little round and like shooting an air rifle with the moderator on it🤣 but not man enough for those sort of distances I wouldn't think.
There's a English lad on RUclips that does a lot of long range shooting you might find interesting. Look for 260 Rips. He's always interesting, a cracking shot like yourself and there's no BS either.
Keep up the good work.
Best wishes 👍🇬🇧
Hey Paul.
Thanks for the feedback mate.
You're spot on with the .17rem, much better for the pelts.
Shame they hold no value anymore.
I've watched some of Ripley's videos. Seems like a pretty genuine fella.
Appreciate the support mate 👊
@@RJMHuntingAustralia I agree, Mark Ripley is a genuine bloke 👍
Looking forward to the next episode from you. 🦊He'd better watch out 🤣
Nah, never felt a thing @1:21. Top shooting and yes, the sunsets are great. It is what my wife (born and raised in city) calls "Big Sky". She loves living in Central West NSW and would never return to the city, any city.
It's always pretty special spending time out under the 'Big Sky' mate 👌
Half a Kilometre! That is insane
Yeah. It's getting out there
Sako!
Certainly is mate 👍
Fuggin shootin Tex! Sat here with the brother and we both agreed it wouldn't be a .223 after seeing the thumb. Should have known better. cheers.
Bạn bắn súng tuyệt vời. Những con thú hoang, Không thể chạy khỏi bạn..Hi 🇦🇺👍.
Thanks mate 👊
What sort of rounds are you using mate? Great video 👍🏼
Adi World Class factory ammunition with the 55gr Sierra Blitz Kings mate
Rod, mate, another great video, those long range shots are bloody fantastic (your mate did well too).
Hope you get the time to upload some more vids sooner than later.
Cheers,
PS, now you’ve got me thinking I want a bowl Spag Bol for dins you ba$tard! Haha!
Haha. Go the spag bol. 👌
Have another couple of vids in the mix mate. 👊
Thanks for the videos. Out of interest, do you use a 100mt zero? I'm assuming you don't set for an inch high at 100mt when using the onboard ballistic calculator?
I zero at 56m mate. The check impact at 200m and 300m and tweak the ballistics till its spot on
Beauty, thx.
Awesome footage, also started farming recently and had to get the 223 out for pest control during lamming season. May i ask what projectile, bullet tip you are using?
Thanks mate.
I'm running 55gr Sierra Blitz Kings in my 223, awesome projectile. 👌
Massive Exit Wound? Overkill always preferred to underkill. You seem to be honing your already fine skills - :-) 223 is an impressive calibre
Overkill is just a myth mate. 👌
477 , nice work 👍
@@RJMHuntingAustralia
Underkill is a term used by those who cannot get the job done the first time
Quite possibly 😉
Thanks
Wow, holy shit, what great long range shots, Rod.
Do you use the fox fur ? I did it only in the winter time, when the fur is really dense.
Greetings from Germany
Shame the panther 2.0 is having DPC issues but the BC is working well. Great vid.
Great video rod...what scope are you using?
Thanks.
I'm running the HikMicro Panther PQ50L V2.0 Shane. 👌
Goodonya RJM 👍👍⚡️🇦🇺
Thank you 👊
U are such a crack shot how long did it take u to get that good. Awesome video
Nice work how long did it take you to set up the ballistic calculator and what ammo where you using
A couple of hours cross referencing with Strelok.
Shooting Adi World Class factory ammunition with the 55gr Sierra Blitz Kings mate
Hi Rod great footage my friend love it question please I have a Sytong clip on HT-66 on my 17HMR that I'm not that happy with can you recommend a clip on to replace it cheers JC
Not really my area of expertise as I have never used an NV add on, I've been running the HikMicro Alpex 4K day/night scope and amazing if you decide to go away from the clip on John.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia thanks Rob cheers
Great vid mate what distance do you zero the 223 at
I'm zeroed at 60m mate. Let the ballistics do the work from there after tweaking all the settings and data.
Nice shooting mate some hape of foxes over there what scope are you using mate cheers
Thanks mate.
Running the HikMicro Panther PQ50L LRF V2.0
Awsome mate, how you shooting these, off a tripid standing or using bipod rested etc, my best so far is 230m off tripod, pants in comparison 😆that was with 243 aswell , do love my 223 still though.
90% of the time I'm using my tripod mate. Sometimes a sandbag or the matchbox II over the roof of the vehicle.
Subscribed!
Legend. Thankyou
Nice shooting Rod,can
you tell me what thermal you are running.
Running the HikMicro Panther PQ50L V2.0 Steve. 👌
What thermal LRF scope are you using, stellar?

Rất vui được nghe từ các bạn ở Việt Nam
G'day well I reckon 👍🏻
Haha. G'day mate. Didn't use it that much this trip. They were too far away. 😅
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Good scope dope mate. 🎯
Nice work Rod an no KFC to b seen anywhere 🤷♂️😁
Stay safe budd 🤙
That last shot is a cracker! How are you calculating the required holdover?
Spent several hours on the range tweaking the data for the internal ballistic calculator.
Spot on once it's dialed in 👌
522 yards in old money with a 223. That's a long poke, good work. What's the load you're shooting?
Adi factory ammo mate.
Running 55gr Sierra Blitz King projectiles
Hey mate, what’s your tripod setup for these?
Running a Bexin ST424C carbon fibre tripod with Sirui K30x ball head mate. Straight to acra swiss plate on my rifle
Is that the hikmicro IR or thermal
HikMicro thermal in this video.
Panther PQ50L V2.0
Bout time you got some work. lol
The only way i could get that Snap out of a 222 rem round was to ad a percentage of pistol powder . You wound not be leave the difference it made . 55g would the mussel at over 4000 ft/ps . Mind you this was back in the 70s .
Sounds crazy.
Speed isn't a priority for me anymore mate. Knowing what the projectile is doing and corresponding bullet drop is the key
4000 fps out of a222 Rem using a home blend of powder that's just bat shit crazy , no body in the 70s owned a chronograph so you wouldn't really know velocity your dangerous loads were doing your lucky that you didn't wreck your rifle or did you ?
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Yes you are right , but short distance and all most flat purgatory it is fine .
@@user-ex1db5dz5t Chronograph where available , a lot of gun shops and gun repair had them .
How do you charge yourself out? Hourly, day rate ect?
Generally hourly rate. Really depends on the job and location mate.
Where abouts are you based Rod?
I'm S/W of Sydney NSW mate.
Nice aimbot mate, that's why i purchased the Pard a couple of years ago they were ahead of the game with the hold over function.
Thanks mate, certainly easier than trying to remember all your holdover marks.
I have a question: How do you work out a cost of a job ?. I am learning firearm safety code for Victoria so I can get a gun license and I am going to join a gun club to. Sorry if my grammar is not very good I have reading writing difficulties.
No problem mate.
Pricing can vary depending on the job description and location.
I generally charge an hourly rate
Thanks
