LONG RANGE FOX SHOOTING || 477m Kill-Shot || 19 Down

  • Lots of long range fox shooting in this video. Dropping foxes with the Sako .223 at some insane distances. Managed a new personal best with a 477m kill-shot and yes, it's on video.
    The ballistics calculator in this HikMicro thermal scope is a total game changer.
    I'm with a good mate of mine for this contract which is at a commercial chicken farm situated on 2000 acres in southern NSW.
    Open, rolling hills with little cover and a full moon made our task very challenging.
    With the full moon lighting up the paddocks and our vehicle, the foxes were very flighty and extremely difficult to get close to.
    Running thermal on the roof was definitely an advantage in locating them out past 1km however closing to within my preferred shooting distance of sub 200 metres was near impossible.
    Fortunately, the HikMicro Panther V2.0 PQ50L thermal scope that I'm running has a laser rangefinder and built in ballistics calculator.
    Having already spent several hours on the range earlier that day, setting up the ballistics and getting the rifle dialed in at 300m. I was now confident enough in my gear to stretch the legs on the Sako .223 and do some long range bombing of these invasive pests.
    Several foxes fell victim to the new long range varmint killer at distances well over 300m. With 2 amazing killshots taken at 405m and 477m being the highlight of the night.
    Having total confidence in your gear is everything.
    All together we managed a total of 19 foxes for the night.
    Big shout out to my mate Ian for all your help, opening gates, collecting the foxes and cooking a mean breakfast. You're a champion mate. Can't wait to head back down there and do it all again.

    What a cracking night out Rod. Pinpoint accuracy as usual from both of you.!
    I've used a 223 for years and love it, I've recently started using a .17 Rem too ( think they were the go to rifle in Australia for years when pelts were valuable, am I right in thinking that.?)
    It's a great little round and like shooting an air rifle with the moderator on it🤣 but not man enough for those sort of distances I wouldn't think.
    There's a English lad on RUclips that does a lot of long range shooting you might find interesting. Look for 260 Rips. He's always interesting, a cracking shot like yourself and there's no BS either.
    Keep up the good work.
    Best wishes 👍🇬🇧
