Totally, all my rides and ski trips and road bike trips...i have those mental notes of spectacular scenery or just plain quiet...like snow falling or dust off my tires! #waydeep
That just looked like some serene fun goodness. I went back and blasted some Marty Robbins, “Big Iron” while you were riding down Jem Trail. Best decision I’ve made all day.
I'm a (nearly) 40 yr mtb-er from Utah. I've lived in southern Utah, St George specifically, for the last 30 yrs. JEM is one of my favorites... but - and yes, there's always a big but. But Dead Ringer is not as fun down in my opinion as More Cowbell. While there's exposure on Dead Ringer, More Cowbell has a couple of fun, but small drops and then my favorite, the switchback descent near the top on More Cowbell (despite the trails rating as "moderate difficulty" vs Dead Ringer's "moderate" with exposure). The two switchbacks near the top of More Cowbell are classic tight switchbacks combined with chunky rocks and broken slickrock (hopping into an "endo around" maneuver, if you dare and walking it if you don't). The exposure is considerable. Add the too-tight-for-normal-turning radius, the chunky rocks and a fairly steep grade down, and you've got the "expert" section of More Cowbell. That said, this section is over before you know it and soon you meet up with the bottom of Dead Ringer on the main JEM trail. Riding Dead Ringer down is fun, but the switchback section of More Cowbell makes many a rider lose their man card (if you're a dude, that is). Great video and great ride! BTW, I live about 40 min from the trailhead and have ridden JEM for decades, including twice in the last month. Thanks!
Just rode JEM-Goosebumps-JEM on Monday (3/16/20) after spending 5 days in Zion. Never ridden a trail like Goosebumps - almost continuous tight twisty rollers. Stopped at the restroom-bike workstation out in the middle of nowhere - very unexpected. Saw the sign for Deadringer - will have to do that if I ever make it back there.
Love that Jem trail! Fun and beautiful! Wish I had hit St. George or Sedona before all this crazy stuff happened. Sad they closed up Laguna and Aliso. Stay safe and stay well!
Here I am commenting on another old video...but they're all new to me! Excited to be going to Hurricane, UT at the end of this month, and will definitely be hitting up this trail! - Dan from OC.
I loved Jem trail. We shuttled and took a different trail down but climbed back up Dead Ringer. I think we exited the way you started the video. Jem is a fun one. Little Creek Mesa is cool too. I didn't care much for Gooseberry. Beautiful but too punchy for me.
Great video, rode Jem as a shuttle on my 3rd of 3 days out there for some much needed dirt flow after all the Mesa action. Got surprised by a few of the chunky little rock sections. Such amazing scenery
A lot of people have been moving to places like St. George. Not sure what infrastructure is there, especially in terms of jobs, universities, etc. But there must be some great riding nearby
Thanks for the video. I'm considering traveling up there from Phoenix Fourth of July weekend. I have an Acura TL. Are the roads to get from the top to the bottom for a few shuttle runs smooth enough for sedans?
I have ridden this trail at least a half dozen times, love it! About a month ago rode this trail again with a large group of riders, many of them had never ridden Jem before. It was fun to wait for them from time to time to see the full face grins on their faces. So much fun!
Me and three of my buddies are coming out from Central California and Ridding this trail Sunday March 26th. Is there a shuttle service we can get in contact with?
Nice ride..FYI upper Jem down is just as much if not more fun !! My go to evening shuttle run with my friends .. next time you roll into town . Reach out . I know a couple of local youtubers who would love to tow you in 🤘🚵♀️🤘
Hey question on that upper gem section... is it really double black material or is it closer to pro line? I was riding dead ringer on a HT and the description on trailforks was pretty intimidating. Would i absolutely need my full sus?
ruclips.net/video/eMYMrTE6B6c/видео.html I think like the 7:25 mark shows the most technical part .. it is a sketchy switchback . But I’ve ridden it with hard tail no prob. Other than this short section it’s totally a blue/green line .. cool wash section .

I have done this trail so many time but I always lose the spot where it keeps going down. I do the cow bell and then dead ringer but I have no internet out there so I lose the rest of the flow track. There are so many trials on the mesa. Is this the one that goes all the way to la verkin? Where did u park? I always park from the hurricane side.
Thx! I’ve been getting this question a lot this week! Maybe cuz it looks like pip is riding to the trail with me I dunno. I always make sure I’m staying in a dog friendly place when he comes with me so he’s just relaxing back at the spot while I ride napping until I’m back. 😉
I’ve done el prieto a lot - that one’s coming up soon for a vid. Definitely not easier just not as exposed. It’s the exposure that freaks me out for sure.
That decent looks like a gas! I have always enjoyed "exposure" trails albeit, much more so back in the days when I wore a younger man's clothes. This peticular video really stirred me to ride. Thanks for letting us come along.
Literally just met 3 people in row yesterday all talking about your channel. I was so hyped to hear people in my area watch your vids. Keep it up!!!!!
That’s awesome Quinn! Where’s your area? ✔️

You got it. Yup. 👊✔️
Fantastic ride!! I got trail envy for some of your rides, thank the trails for RUclips!!
Thanks - this one was pretty epic!
I can only imagine the smile on your face....
I am down here now and you just helped me decide what to ride tomorrow.
🤝
Love the Jem trail!!! I hope you got to ride Gooseberry Mesa while you were out there.
Check my last vid. Pretty much.
Awesome video! Gotta get to Utah now!!
Until next week 🤙🏼
Yup thx mike!
This trail went into my save for a future possible try. Great trail, Great video.
Awesome!
OMG... how have i not been here....amazing ride vlog dude...
Thanks man! This was such a rad change up ride from the slower rock crawling on the Mesa’s too. 👊✔️

Good stuff Adam! This one of the the great ones for sure.

Rode the Gem trail back in the early 2000's with my daughter on a tandem...didn't hear a peep out of her the whole ride. :)
Wow that’s a new one. Good stuff. ✔️
Three falls trail at the beginning is one of my favorite places to hike and explore
I was just on cowbell with my daughter on Saturday. Great trail for the kids.
Very cool!

Awesome Brian and I feel the same way. Not a big fan of the crawly crawls, but they're a good switch up. This ride was one of my fav's.
You have the best MTB channel on RUclips
Thank you! 👊😉
That trail looks really fun! Enjoy!

Totally agree - good transition from the Mesa.
Thanks for the ride! Absolutely amazing views!🥰
Thanks Johnny - this one was a Jem!
It definitely looked like it!🥰 I'd love to get lost! Well? Sometimes! 🤣
Super Sweet!! Beem me out TO. Really could use some sun n flo rite now ;)
Sweet video and congrats on hitting 8,000 subs!
Thx Michael!
That's a lot of flow! Great vid Tony. I would love to ride this one.
Thx Mark - it’s one for the books!
Great Vid! Thanks!

Man that is a TON of desert flow 🤘🤘
So much Flowwwwwwwwwwwww!
Sweet downhill. Sweeter then a cowbell tune. Well almost. 🐮
Haha - thanks Dan!
Nice video bro!
Appreciate it
Got me Jonsin for dirt! Thanks 🙏
Nice!
I've been wanting to get out to southern Utah but would have to bring my dog. I was wondering what do you do with Pip when you ride?
I always get a dog friendly motel/hotel.
Roger D these trails are all dog friendly .. lots of trail dogs in these parts .
@@RidingMyBestLife I find it hard to ride with my dog now that he's older. He's still energetic but anything over a few miles may be too much for him.
wow this sounds like Vancouver with extra steps.1:31

Nice shred!
Thanks Devin!
That looks so fun👍
It was great. 👊✔️
How about coming to Ladera Ranch/ San Juan Capistrano and riding improved waterworks, spitfire, rage, and escalator. I’ll give you the tour!

There is!
Did you ride More Cowbell? I liked it, short and nice views.
No it was just a cross trail. I took Dead Ringer.
Thanks again for another great video! by the way exposure gets me as well :)
Thx! Glad I’m not alone in that. 😉

I think it’s just dirt nothing crazy.
Nice trail 👌🏻
👊✔️
I wanna go here
Do you usually use the GoPro on a chest mount or is it different?
Almost always chest mount except for one recent Skypark vid. 👊✔️

I’m not from the area but give it a quick google.
Nice human nice video 🌵✌️
As a Brit I'm very jealous of these trails 🤙
The desert is a special place for sure.

Gotcha - check the links under the video. The info should be there.
30lbs of air in the tires? Did I see that right?
30 psi yup. Fast flowy Singletrack - go fast. 💨💨💨 27 in the front.
@@TheOutsiderMTB I would've thought 26-28 but I'm still learning even though I'm old. lol
Thank the originators of the JEM trail, John, Emily, and M
They did a great job!
EXCELLENT! Thanks for posting!
Hey Tony, ow you doin? Is this trail easy to find? Bob T.
Good. Good. Yeah and it's an out and back blue. All good.
Love your videos! Husband and I need you to settle an “argument” though. Where does Pip chill while you’re out?? 🤷🏻♀️

If you don't like exposer how can you do the Luge? I road to the flag and got to scared lol.
Haha I just deal with it.
Pip! 🥰
Wheres the pup when you’re riding?
I always stay in dog friendly places when we do a trip together, so Pip hangs in the room for a few hours.
Isn't there another trail on MT Wilson that's easier & less exposure?
I’ve done el prieto a lot - that one’s coming up soon for a vid. Definitely not easier just not as exposed. It’s the exposure that freaks me out for sure.
I feel you on that. I have a similar worry.

Thanks for tuning in Lee. Hope you stick around.
Is there enough signage to know where your going without pulling out a map.
Nope
@@TheOutsiderMTB good to know hahaha, any tips?

Helluva job John. ✔️👊 Would be rad to ride it with you.
So...could you find food out there?
Like snacks? No.
Well...Utah in general. I’m traveling your direction so I was wondering if shelves were empty...greetings from Alaska.
Oh ok. This was a road trip a couple weeks ago. I live in California. Shelves are hit or miss right now pretty much everywhere.

Good. Good.
"Enduro" lol
