@@zyto7904Nigel short fell for it. He's no WC but he is 2600 and kramnik barely broke 2800 in his prime and currently is 2700. So him falling for it is definitely not out of the question
If I tried this at my level, the opponent would not bring the horse forward to c6, and even if they did, they'd definitely take my queen with theirs, and then I'd blunder the game.
i think its basically threats of Rd1 and cxb7 followed by Bb5. if black takes the bishop then Rd1 threatens Qd8# and its quite hard to stop, if black plays natural looking Qc7 then cxb7 and black is falling apart with the bishop and rook hanging and Bb5+ threatening M3 (and its not like other moves are much better than Qc7)
Very good question and answer. I initially thought after Qxf4 that cxb7 would win but Black has Qd2+! Kxd2 cxd2+! Kxd2 Bxb7. So Rd1 looks to be the answer. Not a line I would like to play as Black I must admit.
2:22 What about Bb5? If black takes queen, cxb7+, with queen at the next, winning a quality. I don't see a clear move for black that stops the pawn without losing material. Im so bad?
Unfortunately after Bxd5 cxb7+ Qxb5 bxa8=Q+, the d5 Bishop is now guarding the queening square, so Bxa8 and White is a queen down. I nearly got caught out by this line myself when watching the video.
Will only work with titled players as lines are all memorized and it's easier to get the positions you need. Try it against a noob (like me) and he'll find a way to accidentally refute it.
This is a tricky opening. Accelerated Steinitz counter gambit. Qa5 is a mistake (+1.4). After b4 black should resist taking the pawn and play Qf5 Eric was considering Qb5 on move 9. I thought this looked very strong. In fact it cedes all of white’s advantage. Black has Qe4+ and scoops up the pawn on c6. Eric played perfectly until move 15 Then I stopped analysis as he was so far ahead.
Can't wait to fail miserably trying this! 👍
Nah fax it went 5050 for me but i don forgot my original opening
Bearded Eric = OP
if Eric played this against Kramnik, he would've been blocked and reported 😅😅😅
kramnik report everyon:P even GM Pakleza :}
"Yes, it's now clear to me. Let's do the procedure."
@@SuperMKChess * Loud furious mouse clicks *
a WC wouldn't fall for this. the difference between an FM and a super GM is like an FM and a noob.

I mean, it's just 1 position to keep on your radar. If you don't play the opening already then learning it for a trap isn't worth your time.
Bearded Eric is the 🐐
Rosen might be growing a Gandalf beard.
babe wake up, new eric trap video just dropped
you know eric, ive been loving the speedruns but i think i miss videos like this too! 😁
Woow, I come back after a few episodes and Eric is all bearded-up 🐻 🐻
I dont understand what the threat was behind Qd5. As black i would have probaly taken the bishop on f4. What am i missing?

i think Eric and Magnus are the only player that can make london opening interesting
this gives you so much time advantage also very useful in blitz
Just casually beating a former WCC challenger

At 6:25 what's wrong with black Bishop takes pawn?
Bb5+
8mins is too short from making me fall asleep 😴💤
Nice one, never seen this idea and I've seen so many games in London/Jobava London
Eric's NO SHAVE NOVEMBER game is off the charts!
Eric of the Rosen ❤❤🤩🥰
First of his name!
2:47
Curious to know but what's wrong with Bb5 here?
Bb5 Bxd5 cxb7+ Qxb5 bxa8=Q+ Kd7 Rad1+
Not Kd7 but Bd5xa8! Easy to miss that the Bishop is now guarding the queening square after the d5 capture.
LOVE waking up to bearded Eric crushing with the London.❤
The dreaded Beard Trap. Gets me every time.
A bearded Rosen is definitely a vibe.
I think the semi beard looks really cool bro. Great video!
Can't believe Eric played against 3x Cy Young award winner
❤ Love to see you playing with your food in the 1st game.
Wondering how a 3 inch beard would suit you.
A happy follower. 🙂↕️
Any thoughts on why not 9. cxb7? Maybe I'll throw it up on an analysis board and see.
It’s not often I see the funny line, but I actually saw up until Re1+ before Eric started rattling it off.
eric rosen, chopping noobs and grandmasters apart, one trap at a time
I had no idea that Nigel Short was still active in chess.
the most dominant pitcher ever pedro martinez is also a chess master?? who would’ve thought
Dude you look phenomenal with THAT exact beard and hair

Going to sleep...no watching chess.
Now I have to learn all these lines when they get spammed against me online darn it
Pedro was a better pitcher than he was a chess player.
What an insane game
That was stunning!
What is the line if your opponent just takes the takes your pawn c3xb2 instead of moving their queen to a5
Why would Black not take the pawn en passant with the King in check?
don't get this either
Black cannot castle as white bishop is there
Holymoly i cant wait for gambit speedrun!
Came here looking for London trap beats.
hey eric, what a game
How that castle was legal when bishop is f4?
The King did not move through a controlled square (B8) so was never in check. The Rook is free to move through a controlled square when castling.
OMG. I thought I knew the rules of chess. That Queen side castle seemed illegal.
Rule states castle is prevented if king would go through a check. Video shows the king DID NOT go through a check which means the castle legal.
The beard is good.
Best move is taking 2:30 min to make your next move 👍

Ah yes... bearded brilliancy!
Hey all! Why was that castle a legal move with the white bishop drilling a line right through the path??
0:13 did eric do a recap of this game? can someone share a link, I'd love to watch it
the bear does it again 🐻
Beard looking fire!!
Keep the beard going
noob here, why is queen takes bishop on f4 not a free bishop?
Very nice!
Why not en passant after b4? Its giving me anxiety
Can only en passant on the 4 and 5 ranks
@colin5197 thanks. I've played for years and never knew this
Eric the people have spoken. You must get a buzzcut and play more chess while cosplaying as Kratos
Could you beat Magnus or Hikaru with such traps??
What am I missing? If on move 7 black takes pawn en passant. Check.
It's illegal. Pawns have to be beside each other
@@hexpert Got it. Thx
looks like a 1500 level game....
It’s bed time
When did Nigel Short change his last name to Swartz?
May the Swartz be with you
very good.
always tricky
Kind of game I hate...messy, complicated, hectic
nice trap
yeah if i tried this id lose like 300 elo
This is fun
Any tricks for BEATING those annoying London / boring d4 players?!
London Trap Beats???????
jobava london

Awesome
yikes what to do..
Nice beard
