I’ve had my credit card stolen before and I didn’t have to pay anything. My card however was reported lost/stolen within 30 minutes of me losing it. I had only stopped for gas and when I went to go get food afterwards I noticed it was gone. I went back to where I last used it and they didn’t have it. I told them to look at their cameras but they said their cameras were down 🤦‍♀️ that’s what they always say right?! So anyways I reported it right away and after over $700 charged the people who used it were caught on camera at a different store. I hope whoever used it was caught and I’m thankful that I didn’t have to pay anything just because someone decided to be a shitty ass human being that day.

Do some light research and you’ll see. Seriously who the hell is banking with a company this bad!? My company found my old card number on a dark web auction house likely after it was stolen by a credit card skimmer. They immediately froze it before a single transaction had occurred. They called me first thing the next morning, told me they issued a new card with new number, offered me access to my cash at my local branch, and thanked me for my patience during the whole ordeal. I'm baffled that anyone does any business whatsoever with a company that attempts to literally force illicit debt you didn't authorize on you. Actually, Chase is usually amazing at protecting you and reimbursing you when there's fraud.

In Australia, any unauthorised transactions on a credit or debit card is protected under Australian Consumer Law and providing the transactions are reported within 3 months, all money is returned to the cardholder, no penalty is imposed. Basically they just reverse the original transactions and then investigate where the money has gone, even though the banks may become out of pocket as a result.

Usually there’s protection where you should be responsible for any of it. And I’ve reported things more than two days since I was traveling, lady on the phone said to just keep using it and to call when I was back home and they removed the fraudulent charges. I didn’t pay anything.
