I just want to thank Sumner for taking the time and effort to make these videos. Because of you, I am going to visit East Wind in November to check it out and see how they work together. Your videos were very insightful!

The only way to “save the planet” is to establish a truly sustainable society. “Sustainability BEGINS with Sustainable Relationships!”
The insights offered by Zan needs to be seriously considered.
I lived in successful community from 2004-2021.

Do you see yourself joining another IC? Or maybe starting your own? You seem so passionate so I wonder how you feel about being outside of it (that's assuming you are out of it, still waiting for that video explaining why you left and what you are up to now :)
I hope you are doing well!

Hi Aaron, I am doing well, thank you! Besides visiting friends at EW and other communal farms, as well as making these videos, I'm not actively in any IC right now. I certainly would consider living in another IC (smaller, more agrarian, more intimate) and there are some ideas floating around in my head. The passion does fade when you are away from it... but it is easily reignited when you find a good group.
Right now, I feel comfortable where I am helping my father with his business. Been two years now and I plan to be doing this one more. Learning plenty of practical skills (building rehab, masonry, etc.) that are useful just about anywhere.
I am committed to finishing my work on this YT channel with some very in depth presentations and discussions. All the videos your are seeing this year were edited together this past winter... more than likely I won't be completely finished with all the remaining material until this coming winter. Possibly fall, if I get on an editing kick. I have significantly more time in the cool season to do non$$$ work. I appreciate your patience!! =)
P.S. I don't get notifications for comment replies, only comments made directly on videos... just fyi.

Great to hear you get interviewed, Sumner! The ending was a bit abrupt, was there some more material we might get to hear later?

It was a short interview, some questions didn't pertain to a general audience. I will be posting more of my views in the future.

I always did think having a successful business was crucial to a community's survival, but Oneida ceased to be a community but continued to be a business - but it was a Strong religious leader model. East Wind lets each person be their own manager, basically, and it all succeeds well enough.
But listening to you talking about the land and the governance and the business - reminded me of the line - in marriage, if sex is working its 10% of the relationship, if sex isnt working, its 90%. Not enough by itself - but a community cant survive without income.
I mean, unless its not income sharing, of course.

Did EW apply for internet grant as spoken about? Did this anonymous person interviewed here living now at EW? It would be interesting to see if or where he or other interviewees are and what they are doing now!

@@EastWindCommunity1973 yeah, already scoured every page on the site. Did not appear to be recently updated as there were multiple mentions of a ‘recent’ fire in 2011

People are now finding out what Canada has been up to with driving out the indigenous to take the resources and other conformist reasonings.
Many are turning to sustainable lifestyles. Regenerative properties.
On the wifi, i read the property wide wifi was voted down.
I feel that people should be able to build there own financial base at east winds. If they choose to leave at some point will have a start.
Not being able to have your own car seems limiting to me.
I like the concept of the community, but not having ability to build for an individuals future seems scary to me.

There isn't land wide WiFi, but the 4G LTE coverage is excellent all over the land.
Yes, I think there are numerous ways individuals can make income using the internet at EW (and some do, in fact) and it should be an accepted thing.
