OK, I got that repair done. It took one hour and 15 minutes with two guys. Your video just was great so we felt more confident doing this. The lights I got were only $35 for the pair on eBay. My wife said the lights work better than New lol. Yes I subscribe to you. Thanks.
Thank you! Thank you! I didn’t have a clue before watching your video. I wouldn’t think I could do it until I watched this video. It took me 2 1/4 hours to change the lights on my 2015 Sonata Limited. So glad I watched your video first and during the repair.
Much appreciated, Nathan. I needed to replace my HID bulbs with whiter 6000k and this video was excellent in figuring out the process. You got a new subscriber 👍
You are putting different bulbs in. I'm just wondering what that will do. While I have the thing apart, I probably should replace both lights. I'm thinking about putting something that's not so bright. On dim everybody's still flashes their lights at me like I'm on bright. Thanks for any input or advice everyone. This is a great RUclips.
Thank you, Nathan. I was thinking there should be easy way to replace the bulbs. But your video is excellent to let me know needed to spare some time in weekend for the bulb replacement job.
Hi Nathan - don't know if you're still getting comments from this video, but I wanted to let you know it proved invaluable to me. Dealer wanted $450 to replace one bulb - and $900 for both (which is ridiculous, because most of the labor is removing the bumper, which doesn't have to be done separately for both headlights. Anyway...the whole process only took me about an hour. But, I chalk that up to two things - 1st and foremost, I had your video to watch so I knew what I was doing before I even started. 2nd, I had a lot less bolts/clips to undo. Specifically, I had no bolts underneath the front edge. Do you recall what they attached to? I don't have the "shield" that normally goes on the undercarriage beneath the engine. It's been something I've been meaning to replace, but haven't done it yet...so if that's what the bottom of the bumper attaches to, then that's likely why I have no bolts down there. Thanks again.
Thank you for the excellent video. The ring that goes around the bulb on the first one you did I noticed you didn't put the ring around on the second one. You put the ring inside and then put the lamp through it. Just wondering if that caused you any problems I was thinking about cutting that open to change it but you made it look easy to take off the bumper so maybe I will do it the correct way. And thank you very much. And I subscribed to you just because of this video. With the extended warranty, Hyundai still wanted $1000 to change this lightbulb. Here's the good part. They then asked me if I would like to give the car the complete 60,000 mile check up for $1500. I said; if a lightbulb cost me $1000 what am I gonna get for $1500?
Do you know where the HID ballast is located? Is it inside the headlight assembly, near the bulb? My headlights work, but then will turn off by themselves. I can get them to come back on again by manually turning the headlight switch off and then on again. To me it seems unlikely that the bulb is bad and I’m wondering if maybe it’s the ballast. What are your thoughts? The bulbs have a good amount of brightness overall, but sometimes they do flicker slightly. Thanks!
I just completed this on my car about an hour ago. The smart cruise radar does not make it any more difficult. No extra wires or anything, which I honestly thought was odd
Awesome video. Thanks for posting it. Got a 2017 Tucson Limited with the HIDs too. Recently the lights have started sorta flickering or more specifically where they’ll go out for 1-2 seconds and then come back on. Happens intermittently. What do you think is the issue? HID bulbs or the ballast? Thanks.
did it really take 2 hours? most ppl exaggerate on the short side, this would be a 15min job in their fantasy land. either way, thanks for the info and honesty
Yes! Look back at my first and last video recordings from October 2021 and the first video was started at 10:33am and the last video, of me buttoning things up, at 12:16pm.
great video...did you happen to get a quote from a dealer? I'm nervous about removing the nose of the car...all of those plastic clips - they could break...I have a 2014 Sonata Limited with the HID system...
Nathan, greetings! so can i change the original halogen headlights with this HID product without any conversion with ballast? I meant, is this fix to halogen Headlamps? Thank you fo this helpful video!
I don't think the conversion is easy for normal DIY. The normal bulb for the Sonata is 9005, and when I watched other videos, it seems the whole headlight assembly is somewhat different then the one use HID bulbs.
@powerof3online733 I have since traded in the vehicle for a 2023 kia sportage hybrid. It took me longer to get it done. I can't remember the steps I took except I have the vehicle in front of me. Sorry!
Thanks for your reply. I did that finally but trust me, I put head lamp bulbs in many of my cars previously but this one was the toughest one. Unnecessarily they made this thing so complex. They just simply want us to go to the Hyundai service center even for the head lamp !
Imagine the cost of labor at a dealership… This is the same process with my 2014 Kia Optima SX Turbo. I hate these car markers are making it difficult to change low beam headlights on vehicles now.
I know it sounds and look ridiculous to remove the bumper just to replace the bulbs, but with the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited with the HID that is the only way to do it. Unless, you have a video to show us the easiest way otherwise. I would love to know. 😁😁😁

Awesome!
Good lord what a PITA this was. Used to this taking all of 5 minutes. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad it helped. And yes, a real PITA!
Much appreciated, Nathan. I needed to replace my HID bulbs with whiter 6000k and this video was excellent in figuring out the process. You got a new subscriber 👍

Thanks a lot. I am trying this Saturday morning and this video is just awesome. Nice Job!
Thank you. $100 for 2 OSRAM Bulbs on Amazon, 2.5 hours, 1 dropped screwdriver retrieved with magnetic, 0 curses. Plus radiator vacuumed.
Thank you, Nathan. I was thinking there should be easy way to replace the bulbs. But your video is excellent to let me know needed to spare some time in weekend for the bulb replacement job.

Thanks Nathan. That was a real help!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! When your bulb went out, did it just go out completely, or did it turn on the go off after about a minute? Thanks again for the video!
Thank you so much!!
Have the 2016 Hybrid Limited and this was the closest thing to it!! Thank you so much!!!
I’m glad the video helped!
I have a 2017 Hybrid and this also is the closest thing to it... Make it so difficult to change just a single bulb...
Do you know anything about removing/installing the bumper on a vehicle with the Smart Cruise radar? Is it any more difficult?
I just completed this on my car about an hour ago. The smart cruise radar does not make it any more difficult. No extra wires or anything, which I honestly thought was odd

Can I replace the hid with led's ? I prefer a white beam to yellow. Thank you for this video been thinking about this for a while.
I’m not sure if you can replace HID with LED. I do know you can purchase LED conversion kits.
Thanks man.
Is there a low beam and a high beam bulb for the HID headlamps, or does it just operate off of one bulb?
In my vehicle it was one bulb for both.
Hey can you do mines I have the same exact car are you in Pennsylvania or close
did it really take 2 hours? most ppl exaggerate on the short side, this would be a 15min job in their fantasy land. either way, thanks for the info and honesty

Hey Nathan I have a 2014 Hyundai sonata and this model use 4 headlight bulbs.
So my question is , do I have to get 4 of this type of headlight?
2011 to 2014 lights can be replaced with just opening the hood. They use H7 lights and no tools needed to do that. You can replace the dead bulbs only
Outstanding video I have to replace mine also. We're did you find your Bulbs?
Thank you! I bought my bulbs off eBay.
great video...did you happen to get a quote from a dealer? I'm nervous about removing the nose of the car...all of those plastic clips - they could break...I have a 2014 Sonata Limited with the HID system...
It was $400 to replace them at a local shop. The clips were pretty sturdy so I didn’t have any issue with any of them breaking.
Nathan, greetings! so can i change the original halogen headlights with this HID product without any conversion with ballast? I meant, is this fix to halogen Headlamps? Thank you fo this helpful video!
Hi Deb, I have no idea. I went from HID to HID.
I don't think the conversion is easy for normal DIY. The normal bulb for the Sonata is 9005, and when I watched other videos, it seems the whole headlight assembly is somewhat different then the one use HID bulbs.
i drive a 2016 limited 2.4l and I didn't take out the bumper to replace the HID myself.
how did you do it?
@powerof3online733 I have since traded in the vehicle for a 2023 kia sportage hybrid. It took me longer to get it done. I can't remember the steps I took except I have the vehicle in front of me. Sorry!
hello, could you provide the bulb number plz I have tried to find replacements and I keep getting 9005
I bought this, copied and pasted from my eBay purchase: Genuine PHILIPS D3S OEM 42403 HID XENON Bulb 35W
Tank you👏
I’m unable to see any screws close to the pin. Would you please specify. My car is Santa Fe 2016 Limited V6 with 3.3L engine
Sorry, I have no idea if the Sonata and Santa Fe would require the same process for installation.
Thanks for your reply. I did that finally but trust me, I put head lamp bulbs in many of my cars previously but this one was the toughest one. Unnecessarily they made this thing so complex. They just simply want us to go to the Hyundai service center even for the head lamp !

Yes indeed. Labor cost for my car was $400…
Add a knee pad to your installation instructions
No Need to remove the entire front bumper just to replace headlight Bulbs...🙄
Removing the bumper is the only way to remove the whole headlamp assembly to access the bulbs, actually. Watch the video…
I know it sounds and look ridiculous to remove the bumper just to replace the bulbs, but with the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited with the HID that is the only way to do it. Unless, you have a video to show us the easiest way otherwise. I would love to know. 😁😁😁
I agree with the rest. I’ve tried and it’s just to tight and awkward of a fit to get your hand in there. You gotta remove the bumper
Anyone has the link for the headlight
