    There are so many videos which RUclips pushes on this topic yet there is only you who actually cared to share the full potential of this device I bought it after I heard your review,

    this fits my budget and also gives me evrything under the sun

    Nice review. It helped me decide to pick one of these up, and I’m glad I did! The M0 pro is a perfect iPod nano replacement for workouts at the gym. It’s just as lightweight, sounds better when playing .flac files (vs .mp3 on the 15gb nano), and it can hold a lot of music on 256gb micro SD card. Menus are surprisingly responsive and easy to use given the small screen size. Excellent unit so far, especially for the price.

    I agree the sound quality is very good. A nice slightly warm, fun Harmon curve. By no means cold or analytic. But it's not perfect yet. Mine came with Firmware v1.2. That's the first version. There are a few minor bugs they need to work out in v1.5 before I say it's perfect. One example, my M0 Pro clicks between songs. All songs. A minor click but you can't miss it.

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Год назад +2

      Do you have “gapless play” on? I don’t get a click but I am hoping they will add scrolling artist and album names so I can distinguish between similarly named artist and.albums…and the ability to add a whole album to a playlist…oh…and fix the link to the app in iOS. :) Nothing is perfect!

    Thank you for this informative look. I think they stated that single ended playback is about 14 hours, balanced was supposed to be around 10 hours. 7 is on the short side for me, so I'll probably wait for a device around this form factor with slightly better battery life. Still a wonderful little player.

    Nice to-the-point but also very informative review, one thing I want to ask though (since there aren't many reviews of this product) can you skip/previous track with the physical volume button? You mentioned that you can play/pause with it so I thought you could also control the music playback with it. I never used a wheel volume button, my Fiio M3 Pro is the best for blind music playback but looking for an upgrade that has bluetooth feature, so yeah I'm very interested on this Shanling M0 Pro.

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Год назад +2

      You can program the double click for Play/pause, next, or previous, and you can program triple click for any of the same three. So yes, you can program one for play/pause and one for next. The triple click is hard to get just right. Takes practice. :)

    I need answers for this. I have owned a Shanling M0 Pro for less than a month now and even at full battery, it drains immediately in less than a day even in complete STANDBY. Does leaving it equipped with an IEM (while not playing music) still drain its battery?

    As I use this more, and put more music on it…I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the fact that the names of the albums are cut off, often short enough so you can not distinguish between similar albums…Brooklyn Sessions 1, 2, 3…11…they all have the same name on the M0 Pro. The song titles scroll so you can see the whole title. The Album and artist names need to do the same thing. :)

      what would be a great upgrade to this DAP?

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Год назад +1

      @@unforsaken552 Not sure I understand? Are you thinking of how Shanling could make this better? Or are you wanting to replace the M0 Pro with a “better” DAP? Shanling could refine the OS a bit…make album titles and artist names easier to read by scrolling them sideways as they do the song titles. They could streamline the “update music” routine so it takes less time each time you add songs to your card. They could fix the iOS version of the associated app. They could add the ability to add albums to playlists, not just single songs. They could make the equalizer available when using the DAP as a DAC. They could improve battery life. If you are looking for an upgrade to the whole M0 Pro experience, you could do worse than to look at the Shanling M3 Ultra, which has a bigger, easier to work with, screen, and does streaming. The Hiby player in the same price range has maybe better OS, but only has 2.5 balanced…no 4.4. Either would be an “upgrade”…but I an not convinced either would sound any better :)

      The first day of using the M0 Pro was excellent. The SD wasn't even formatted. Another two days after that, this big problem started.
      When the player works, it's really great, but it has to work :)))
      He also tried factory reset according to the seller's instructions. The software in the device is said to be up-to-date.
      I replaced the memory card. It did not help.
      In short, the device should work after being turned on. Not that it freezes.

      You can create playlists on the MoPro but not easily. You can only add one song at a time. There is an option to import playlist…but, of course, the Shanling app does not work on iOS with the MoPro, so that is a no go either. On the M1s you can add whole albums or multiple songs to your on device playlists, so that is much better. App still does not work though. :(

    Hey man..
    One query.
    If i don't stream and have songs downloaded on an sd card, what would I have to do to load new songs onto that card once it is in the M0 pro?
    Is there any way of transferring songs to it from my phone?
    Or since it's a non Android device, would I have to remove the card everytime, insert it back into my phone, load the new songs and re-insert into the M0 pro?

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Год назад +3

      There are a couple of ways. You could just take the card and put it in a card reader on your computer, and just drag and drop, or you could just set the M0 Pro to use the USB C port as “digital storage” and connect it to your computer via a USB C cable, and then drag and drop. If you are using a “note burner” style app to capture songs from Apple or Tidal or whatever, you can just set your file destination in the app to your SD card, and skip saving to your hard drive and copying later. Once you have added new songs to the card, the M0 Pro will have to re-index the card, which will take a while, depending on the size of your card. You can set the M0 Pro to do that automatically when you insert the card or disconnect it from you computer if you did the direct transfer option…or you can set it to wait until you select “Update Music” from the settings menu. Either way, be prepared for a wait until it finishes re-indexing. :)

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Год назад +2

      @@rajeebdas1724 Yes, you should be able to do that, if you phone has true OTG USB C (not all do) and you have a “files” or “finder” app, and if you already have the tracks in your storage…not in a streaming app’s storage…but in your own storage. You can not play music you have saved from a streaming app outside the app (there are apps that will allow you to save these downloads to your own storage…and transfer them to the M0 Pro, but it is a process!) (And might, or might not, be legal…certainly it is diminishing the revenue the artist receives on playback.) Yes, I know, not an easy answer. :)

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Год назад +1

      First I have to make a disclaimer: I an not totally sure this method is legal…and at the very least you are denying the artist his or her Apple pay-out for the times you play the song on your M0 Pro…but it is fairly easy to do (well it is at least doable). First you have to download (and purchase a subscription to) one of the many applications that are designed to capture iTunes or Apple Music streams and re-record them as a file you can put on a micro SD card to use in your M0 Pro. They are all very similar apps, but only two that I could find (the most expensive subscriptions of course) will capture the full hi res lossless versions of the songs. Once you have the app, it will log on to your Apple Music account and you will be able to chose songs you want to capture. Capture takes a while…as the song has to actually play in the background to be saved…though the apps speed up the play and record cycle. It takes about 60 seconds per song. You can save the song files to your hard-drive (with is the default), or you can save them directly to an SD card in a card reader attached to your computer. Obviously if you save them to your hard drive you have to then copy them to the card…so it makes sense to me to just set the file destination in the app to your card in the first place. You can do this by just attaching the M0 Pro directly to your computer and using it as the card reader. Once you finish adding songs to the card, when you disconnect the USB C cable from the M0 Pro it will automatically “index” your card so the M0 Pro software can access the songs. Like I say, possible, yes, Easy, no. My attitude is that I will use the M0 Pro as a DAC connected to my iPad Pro to stream music whenever I can, so the artist gets his or her cut…and only use it as a player using the songs I have saved when I am away from wifi…or traveling far afield. That is my personal compromise. :)
