M1: Carrier M2: Destroyer M3: Heavy Fighter (some have back turrets) M4: Interceptor Fighter M5: Scout Fighter M6: Corvette M7: Frigate (some can carry fighters) M7M: Torpedo Frigate M8: Bomber (more manoeuverable and smaller version of M7M) TL: Large Transporter (capable of carrying and deploying stations) TS: "Small" Cargo Transporter (some of them can carry a lot of cargo, hence the quotations) TP: Passenger Transport (some Passenger Missions require you to transport someone in one of these but they won't say that in the briefing unless you have a mod for that) TM: Military Transport (they can carry less cargo than TS but they can carry fighters) MOD ONLY M0: Battleships (a Super Star Destroyer would easily fit the description)
There are some cannon M0 classified ships, but in the lore only. They're designated as Motherships. The games themselves however don't have an official M0 classification and instead classify them as M1's generally.
Just saw that you're actually mentioned in the credits of the mod. I love how much noise you make for this mod, because IT REALLY IS THAT AWESOME. All the support you bring in hopefully motivates Mikhail to do this full-time :P Big thanks from a fan!
I like the long format versions of these videos. I love seeing you derp around figuring stuff out. It makes me feel better about myself when I can't figure stuff out in games. ;) It's also entertaining. Keep up the good work, Captain. *salutes you*
Great ep as always. I do like long eps, and seeing the micro-y stuff, while sometimes boring, is also informative. Adds meat to the bones of the ep. Keep it up.
hello xpg. can you please publish a list of additional mods and scripts you are running with this playthough as it looks amazing but would like to get some of the scripts you use as well for a playthrough myself.
TheXPGamers thank you. Looking forward to watching anymore of this series that you do. Great video as per usual and as per usual good luck in life and all future endeavours.
Long form episodes are good. Also, good choice with this mod. Looks really interesting, and looking forward to you playing it more. Also, if there's a super star destroyer, and A-wings, then tradition dictates you fly that A-wing screaming at the top of your lungs into its bridge.
9:52 those hammerhead ships came from Knights of the Old Republic, they were retroactively brought into official Star Wars lore through Rebels. I absolutely love that they were, and that they found their way into a Star Wars movie from there, and you are right those things are gorgeous!
Nice to see a modded X3AP series on the channel after your Litcube stream. Personally I like the long-form videos myself, but it might be neat to do little edited blurbs at the beginning like with your Stellaris campaign covering some of the broader goings-on in the galaxy. But I'd be happy with more of what we got this time.
As for the whole ship class thing, yeah I agree it's a mess. Makes sense to have a system, but the numbers go: M1 carrier, M2 destroyer, M3 heavy fighter, M4 interceptor, M5 scout, M6 corvette, M7 frigate (M7M for missile frigate), M8 bomber (which is back to corvette size). It's all over the place. The designations for noncombat ships aren't even uniform, TL = mega transport for stations, TS = small/medium cargo transport, TM = military transport for some reason, the ones that can dock 4 fighters, TP. = personnel transport. Then you get into Xenon ship classifications which are similar to the M series but just letters, but then AP added in heavier variants that kinda messed it up, and the M#+ classes aren't even done uniformly (K = M2, I = M2+, whereas P = M6, PX = M6+.) It's a mess. I can generally keep the M/T classifications straight, but I always mix up the Xenon. I had to look it up for this post to be sure I wasn't misremembering.
Jel Nirin Yeah, I understand why it's the way it is, just makes no sense not to take a step back at some point and go, 'Wow, this is a mess, we should probably clean it up a bit.'
Please show all the game play. I'm thinking about playing this myself and even in this first episode I've learned a ton of stuff. It's really very helpful. On that note I'd love it if you did a walkthrough on how you set it up, mods, settings, joystick.
The opening quote to the game should be a legitimate star wars quote. I don't remember exactly because it's been so long since I've read an EU book but there's gotta be some quotes on how "change is the only thing we can be certain of" in the star wars universe books.
Considering I and probably a good few others also want to start playing this, a full recording with all the explanations and mechanics exploration would be extremely helpful. Would totally watch it all, since X3AP has a fairly steep learning curve when it comes to all the quality of life knowledge.
PLEASE do some tutorial stuff for the X series as a whole! What control scheme should we look for? What are some tips for getting through the beginning hours of the game? Dude, you'd SO make a playthrough of the original enjoyable to watch!
The M-classification was brought in for X:BTF. They added the M6 M7 M8 and M9 afterwards, breaking the biggest to smallest sequence. M1 is the Battleship/Carrier. M2 is the Destroyer/Cruiser. M3 is Heavy Fighter, M4 is Medium Fighter, M5 is Light Fighter/Scout. M6 is Corvette, M7 is Frigate, M8 I think is a Bomber and M9 is something else.
Chris Walker They usually don't care about free products, because as far as I have seen mods that use likeness of a specific company, don't get pulled due to copyright infringement.
Been waiting for you to go back and do an X3 playthrough for so long, it seems today is my lucky day! EDIT: I think you should do the longer less/unedited format, so that way you can make the series whenever you feel like playing X3 and not have to worry about editing out a bunch of stuff.
Yep, you need to prepare yourself. Egosoft forum is a good place for that, and you should watch Cmdr Dave's tutorials on RUclips. Exploring those is part of the fun.
I really enjoyed this setup, X3 is such a nice and chilled game, too much editing would kinda take a lot of the good feeling away behind it. But if it's necessary just cut away^^ But the format of 45-60 minute Videos is very enjoyable! :D -glad I found this channel, alone for this series!
I was playing Stellaris in the background while listening to this video and right when the epic docking music was playing I was watching my fleets make a final stand against the Prethoryn Scourge and I thought that the music was so fitting for the occasion.
As much as I want to see an AotR campaign, I'm glad to see this too. I got X3 after seeing you show off this mod, but I'm having trouble getting used to the game. Hopefully this series will help me understand it a bit better.
I wonder if their is a Robotech (Macross) Mod? That would be some Amazing Crazy Space Combat just like on the Toon. I heard the unreleased N64 Robotech Game was amazing for the time.
@TheXPGamers Hey Shack, have you ever thought of playing Star Wars KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) or KOTOR 2? If you didn't know those are the games in which the Hammerhead class Cruiser was introduced, which is the ship that the inspiration for the Hammerhead Corvets from Rebels and Rogue one.
Definitely long ones. X3 deserves it. M1-Carrier M2-Destroyer M3-Heavy Fighter M4-Interceptor M5-Scout M6- Corvette (Introduced in X2) M7-Frigate (Introduced in X3:TC) *M7M-Missile Frigate (Introduced in X3:TC) *M7C-Carrier Frigate (Introduced in X3:AP) M8-Bomber (Introduced in X3:TC) Also, you could totally have taken that Katana. :D Buzzard is definitely a Teladi. Squint (Paranid) ships are the super shiny ones.
The ship that you said you liked is an Old Republic ship that i believe in its time was classified as a cruiser, i might be wrong but the point remains those ships have been fighting a sith empire for a thousand years and they are not going to stop without a fight.
RUclips says I haven't watched this. But that's shananagins. Because I love this channel, and I know I've watched this series 3 times now. So that means, it's time to watch it again. And that's fine... Everythings fine here.
i find it interesting that you were so fascinated at the beginning with the Nebulon B and the hammerhead, but completely ignore the mon cal in the distance lol
if I get a vote, I say you should do this as both a lets play and a how to play. document every second of this and who us everything, we need to see all the things
I like these long episodes. The longer the better, lol. Also Shack, if you can get a Venator in this game, you totally should! It's my favorite Star Wars ship.

the hammer head is such a old ship and i remeber first seeing them in kotor and think how cool it would be to ram ships with and then seeing that in rouge one was gr8
I'd love for you to keep the long format and then maybe if you did another series or a video or two showing off the Imperial ships like the Star Destroyer
btw x3 terran conflict is a standalone expansion for x3 rebirth meaning technically x3 albion prelude is a standalone expansion for x3 rebirth. I know x3 rebirth was one of the 2 black sheep in the franchise but give it a little credit. without everyone telling the devs how crap it was the 2 expansions would have never been so amazing.

in answer to your question. I'd personally prefer long play chill episodes over heavily edited shorter ones. i usually have youtube running on a second monitor while i work or play and this kind of thing is ideal.
You're a traitor to the Galactic Empire
Take him away!
Holding Shack is dangerous. If news gets out it could generate sympathy for the rebellion in the Subs.
REBEL TRAITORS YOU WILL NEVER OVERTHROW THE EMPEROR
agreed,
For the empire!
Mods of Halo let the rebels die a painful death
@Let go Of youtube ,last I checked, Shack WAS the Emperor...
Give. Us. Everything. Full 45-60 minute long episodes with minimal editing would be awesome.
John Baer yes please!
John Baer Absolutely!
Alllllll of the things!
I agree!!
Helll yeah!
How is Shack not getting a copyright strike for the starwars music?
+Brass Dragon give it time. Lol
TheXPGamers call the astromech r-5
Shhhh, don't mention it...
Brass Dragon because he is the best
its is a matter of time because man is that soundtrack highly copyrighted
why didn't you do the empire
cause he would like to actually kill stuff not miss
Ha ha
NightmareDonut lol true
NightmareDonut, lol
but if you shoot evreything then you dont haft to aim XD
Because guerilla warfare is entertaining.
M1: Carrier
M2: Destroyer
M3: Heavy Fighter (some have back turrets)
M4: Interceptor Fighter
M5: Scout Fighter
M6: Corvette
M7: Frigate (some can carry fighters)
M7M: Torpedo Frigate
M8: Bomber (more manoeuverable and smaller version of M7M)
TL: Large Transporter (capable of carrying and deploying stations)
TS: "Small" Cargo Transporter (some of them can carry a lot of cargo, hence the quotations)
TP: Passenger Transport (some Passenger Missions require you to transport someone in one of these but they won't say that in the briefing unless you have a mod for that)
TM: Military Transport (they can carry less cargo than TS but they can carry fighters)
MOD ONLY
M0: Battleships (a Super Star Destroyer would easily fit the description)
There are some cannon M0 classified ships, but in the lore only. They're designated as Motherships. The games themselves however don't have an official M0 classification and instead classify them as M1's generally.
This is one of your greatest series. Can't wait for season 2.
Just saw that you're actually mentioned in the credits of the mod. I love how much noise you make for this mod, because IT REALLY IS THAT AWESOME. All the support you bring in hopefully motivates Mikhail to do this full-time :P
Big thanks from a fan!
Long Episodes with explanations and stuff. Friggin love it
I like the long format versions of these videos. I love seeing you derp around figuring stuff out. It makes me feel better about myself when I can't figure stuff out in games. ;) It's also entertaining. Keep up the good work, Captain. *salutes you*
This looks fun! Do more! For the Alliance!
Hawkeye For the Alliance!
For the (dead?) emperor!
carlos plata Imperial dog
The mandalorian Bounty hunter No need to hide when you're the ones firing imp. Stay on target!
for the Hord- oh wait wrong alliance. my bad
Great ep as always. I do like long eps, and seeing the micro-y stuff, while sometimes boring, is also informative. Adds meat to the bones of the ep. Keep it up.
shack, I would like to see more of this type of episodes; long, you having a good time, and explaining the game mechanics.
hello xpg. can you please publish a list of additional mods and scripts you are running with this playthough as it looks amazing but would like to get some of the scripts you use as well for a playthrough myself.
+toby silverstone good point. Will update tonight. :)
TheXPGamers thank you. Looking forward to watching anymore of this series that you do. Great video as per usual and as per usual good luck in life and all future endeavours.
You know what you should name your R2? R5....
Thank you! :D
Captain11890 friendly necro here, R2 is the model number, there is an R5 model.
I absolutely love videos like this, I had absolutely no idea a game like this even existed let alone such an awesome mod!
I love this kind of long chill video, it really seems to suit a game like this.
holy crap, I have never heard of this series or this mod and I am just... blown away... my god this is amazing
YES YOUR MAKING THIS SERIES!!!!!!!YYYYEEEESSS YOU'VE DONE WELL SHACK!!!
Please do this style shack, its so much more fun seeing you figure things out rather then just seeing the highlights!
The hammerhead ships were also used by a sith in star wars knights of the old Republic
Long form episodes are good. Also, good choice with this mod. Looks really interesting, and looking forward to you playing it more. Also, if there's a super star destroyer, and A-wings, then tradition dictates you fly that A-wing screaming at the top of your lungs into its bridge.
I would honestly really enjoy watching this series in this format.
9:52 those hammerhead ships came from Knights of the Old Republic, they were retroactively brought into official Star Wars lore through Rebels. I absolutely love that they were, and that they found their way into a Star Wars movie from there, and you are right those things are gorgeous!
I used to binge on X-Wing flight simulator on my old 386- enjoyed X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter immensely, as well. This is the perfect mod for me!
Hour long episodes with everything explained seems pretty great to me!
I personally like how this episode was long and it was just you hanging out
Nice to see a modded X3AP series on the channel after your Litcube stream. Personally I like the long-form videos myself, but it might be neat to do little edited blurbs at the beginning like with your Stellaris campaign covering some of the broader goings-on in the galaxy. The first X Game only had M1 - M5, later they added new ship classes but didnt want to change the old system
Jel Nirin Yeah, I understand why it's the way it is, just makes no sense not to take a step back at some point and go, 'Wow, this is a mess, we should probably clean it up a bit.'
So this is basically a single-player only ED? Neat. Definitely looking forward to more of this.
I like this format. I like understanding the mechanics and formulas behind the graphics.
Hammerhead is originally from kotor
Lochness Merkster not this one , have a closer look
This one is the one from Rebels and Rogue One, it's inspired by the ones in KotOR though
The Hammerhead variant is Rebels, but it's pretty clearly an homage to KOTOR even if the ship in-universe has nothing to do with it.
Yes, but hammerheads are originally from KOTOR
I only played KOTOR 2, but if I'm not mistaken the Harbinger was a Hammerhead?
I love the long form because it's exploring a new type of game and it's really interesting
liking the format, i do want to see bigger ships though...XD
i like the current way you have it
Definitely keen for more long-form episodes!
Please show all the game play. I'm thinking about playing this myself and even in this first episode I've learned a ton of stuff. It's really very helpful.
On that note I'd love it if you did a walkthrough on how you set it up, mods, settings, joystick.
Keep up the good work Shack! I am really glad you chose this mod!
Holy shit CaptainShack playing one of my favourite games of all time crossed with star wars! YOU SIR HAVE MADE MY DAY!
Long episodes please it's so interesting to learn the game along with u and it's just very enjoyable to watch :)
The opening quote to the game should be a legitimate star wars quote. I don't remember exactly because it's been so long since I've read an EU book but there's gotta be some quotes on how "change is the only thing we can be certain of" in the star wars universe books.

I would love to see you do full unedited episodes of this, just playing the game and having fun.
i could watch like a hundered episodes of this game i dont expect you to make even close to that many but i really enjoy this game and mod
Keep the format as it is! People should know what they get into when playing themselves.
Keep going like this i am playing the mod and this help me learn and is fun to watch. I hope you post more of this LP often.
Come back to this campaign too I love this one
I like the fact that shack completely ignores his dying allies and instead messes around with drones and boxes
I do enjoy this style of video for this game Shack, it makes me more interested in playing this game, seeing all it has to offer in such a raw form.
Chill episodes like these, I'm more likely to listen to than watch the whole time.
I really like the long version. Keep up the good work Shack!!!
i remember the hammerhead from knights of the old republic. were did the new republic dig that old relic up.
Neither Holy nor Roman different ship same name
PLEASE do some tutorial stuff for the X series as a whole! What control scheme should we look for? What are some tips for getting through the beginning hours of the game? Dude, you'd SO make a playthrough of the original enjoyable to watch!

Waiiiit, I've heard that music before... FREELANCER!!! 19:40
Ok Im watching this
you are not alone its the music in Freelancer that played in the Tau Systems
He totally should do an LP for that game, it was fantastic!
The soundtrack at 13:22 is from Freelancer if you were wondering
Do the long videos, i really liked this series, can't wait for next episode!
I'm surprised the mod hasn't had lawyers slap their filthy paperwork at it. Maybe X series is too small to matter.
Chris Walker They usually don't care about free products, because as far as I have seen mods that use likeness of a specific company, don't get pulled due to copyright infringement.
They shut down an ARMA 3 star wars mod because I quote "it was better than battlefront"
Well that really is not a achievement at all... if we talk about EA turd that is..
As awful as it was it remains a guilty pleasure game of mine, it's looks slightly make up for the amount of depth the game has
I think someone copied my profile pic.
Great Star Wars mod!!!. May the Force be with this game, always!!!.
This is amazing. I love your enthusiasm. Full content. 2 hour episodes lol. +1 subscriber
Gen. Crix Madine and his fake beard as the Commander. I'm sold
Been waiting for you to go back and do an X3 playthrough for so long, it seems today is my lucky day!
EDIT: I think you should do the longer less/unedited format, so that way you can make the series whenever you feel like playing X3 and not have to worry about editing out a bunch of stuff.
Long form episodes! There the best just to chill and watch.
i really liked the way he did this video and i hope he continues it this way.
The music @13:50 ish is from the Freelancer PC Soundtrack, It is not a part of X3 or this mod
I would love to see this format longer episodes.
I always really wanted to get into X3, but the learning curve is a bit intimidating. This looks so awesome.
Yep, you need to prepare yourself. Egosoft forum is a good place for that, and you should watch Cmdr Dave's tutorials on RUclips. Exploring those is part of the fun.
ShamanKish
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check it out
ShamanKish I found them confusing, made me realise x3 is a spreadsheet in space, this mod looks great though.
I like the longer episodes shack it's a really chill vibe
I really enjoyed this setup, X3 is such a nice and chilled game, too much editing would kinda take a lot of the good feeling away behind it. But if it's necessary just cut away^^
But the format of 45-60 minute Videos is very enjoyable! :D
-glad I found this channel, alone for this series!
this style, exploring and learning everything with you
I was playing Stellaris in the background while listening to this video and right when the epic docking music was playing I was watching my fleets make a final stand against the Prethoryn Scourge and I thought that the music was so fitting for the occasion.
I need more of this!!!!! keep them hour long episodes coming!
I heard the unreleased N64 Robotech Game was amazing for the time.

if I get a vote, I say you should do this as both a lets play and a how to play. document every second of this and who us everything, we need to see all the things
I love the Hammerhead Corvette too! I thought I was the only one
if you order the drones to stop you can scoop them up. good for saving resources in the beginning.
I like these long episodes. The longer the better, lol. Also Shack, if you can get a Venator in this game, you totally should! It's my favorite Star Wars ship.
Shack: "Firespray? I think it's Firespray."
Me: "Your insight serves you well."
Oh, man. That Freelancer music. Very nostalgic.
hammerhead i belive were used during the old republic i belive i may be wrong but i belive they were used as capital ships and were much larger than they are in this game or in general
the hammer head is such a old ship and i remeber first seeing them in kotor and think how cool it would be to ram ships with and then seeing that in rouge one was gr8
Wouldn't a Y-Wing Longprobe be more suiting for a scout/observation mission?
i would watch every episode regardles but i would love the longer episodes where you show how the mechanics work and what not!
Shack, you just convinced me to buy this game and try out this mod. GG sir!
I would like to see the unedited content shack
I am pumped for this series
The Hammer Head or Old Republic Battle Cruiser is one of my favorite starships.
Dude hell yeah give me some of that good raw unedited 60 minute episodes
Hey XPG, are you gonna cover Yuuzhan Vong At War when that mod comes out?
hammerhead corvettes actually have their origin in the old republic games and books
This is awesome i can't wait to see the massive corporation you will build.
Ship classifications in order of badassness (lowest to highest): M5, M4, M3, M6, M7, M7M, M8, M2, M1 and the mythic M0 (so far I think there's only ever been one during a story mission in X2 but I could be mistaken)
Please do the long format videos. They're helping me get an understanding of the game.
