This needs more views, you helped me realize things I never really thought about before and I feel like everything you mentioned here really helps build Squidward as a character. It shows that the complexity and uniqueness of each character and their dynamics with one another is one, if not the biggest, part as to why the show is still loved and talked about today. Great video!
I guess that's what a well-done character writing means in the end. Humane, honest, not sugarcoated and has no actual "evil" in the end. If it's greatly understandable for any person who had ever lived, the character feels alive for the viewer and the fact that Squidward gets such analysis is wholesome to me because people finally understand such thing.
NGL, SpongeBob has had his good moments, but when you look at Squidwards frustration towards SpongeBob, it’s understandable. SpongeBob is more of a nuisance than a main character, and there’s moments where even I don’t like SpongeBob, even though he’s THE main character. Squidward is my favorite character, and while yes, he has his flaws, but the modern episodes are just making him a punching bag, and he doesn’t even deserve it most of the time. Hell, even the marketing of Squidward always shows him being grumpy, and we hardly ever see him smile. While in older episodes, there were some moments where he did deserve to get screwed over, the key word is some. He does show he cares, and he has moments where he shows remorse. Overall, while Squidward does have moments where he is a jerk, he has some genuine good moments that makes me like his character. If I had the choice to hang out with SpongeBob or Squidward, I’d choose Squidward.
Putting squidward aside for a moment (even though he’s my favourite character and the 🐐) SpongeBob was actually going to sacrifice himself just so squidward can live. This is even better when you realise that to SpongeBob, squidward has been treating him like garbage (for the most part) 😭
Great video! I always love seeing a spongebob analysis! What do you think about the episode where Squidward goes to tentacle acres? The way i saw that episode is the following: Squidward thinks that normalcy, being around those with his same interests, and structure will make him happy. However, he goes crazy at the end. I think the episode reveals that squidward actually does have abit of a weird/eccentric side but it only gets let out when hes in such a tightly wound up and structured neighborhood. Otherwise, he tries to hide it somewhat because he holds himself to high standards and doesnt want to appear to be like the weird, annoying fish around him. What do you think? Also, some constructive criticism: The music got too loud at the end where it kinda overpowered your voice and commentary. Other than that, this video is much appreciated, and very nice!
Sorry for the late reply, as I said in the video I think Squidward likes SpongeBob. I think of their relationship as one like Rodrick and Greg from the Wimpy Kid books. Rodrick seems to dislike Greg, but we know that he actually loves him. When he moved he was no longer surrounded with a loving nature but by people like him, which is not exactly paradise. Also thx for your advice!
@@spongebobtheory Ive never read those books, honestly. However, I see exactly what your saying. Squidward does like SpongeBob and I kinda disregarded that when explaining how I saw the episode. He likes SpongeBob and the way SpongeBob is, so being around more people like him probably drove him Abit nuts. He had too much of a good thing in his perception, and probably soon after started to really miss spongebob. So......he used a jet pack to fly out of the gated community. Lol
Squidward has a big heart and is a great friend to Spongebob. I love the episodes that highlight how far Squidward is willing to go for him.
I just realized I'm becoming Squidward...
This video is amazing and so well written. Your voice makes it really heart breaking but warming as well

I liked they making spongebob not always as good people,he can be racist to up people
@@KanoKingoftheworld SpongeBob has his own qualities that make him feel alive to the viewer. He can't be perfect, as any other well-written character
@@FEDORA_SIN_A yep
He was a bit of a jerk in grandmas kisses, sponge cano and the abysmal little yellow book.
Do you like Pasta?
Ofc

Thx I appreciate it
I am pretty sure Plankton is the main antagonist of SpongeBob, not Squidward lol (at worst, Squidward is more like an anti-hero).
the intro sounds like it was written by AI

DoodleBob is the best character. Momo moai monai yo yasdna sdasdh
Nah
I think squidward is sad because he lost his parents or he’s just depressed
we see Squidward's mom in several episodes, such as the April Fools episode; his dad also appears
