Dawn, instead of bake one thing at a time, load up the oven and cook multiple things at once.
This saves energy costs, and you don't over heat the house

This content is always valuable. Thank you, Dawn! Today I am making egg roll in a bowl, and I am caramelizing onions and bell peppers for later use in wraps. These both freeze beautifully.

I keep lots of things in the freezer for meals instead of the fridge. I make soups, lasagna, spaghetti sauce, chili, stuffed peppers packaged into individual servings. Also muffins, corn muffins and cinnamon rolls. Just take out as we need it.

Does your family sit down nightly for dinner together?
Breakfast around here is a free for all. I make overnight oats in individual bowls and everyone grabs one as they head out. Weekends we have coffee together and something like oatmeal cookies or bagels.
    Lunch is last nights leftovers.
Dinner tonight is lentil soup made outside in a hanging pot over the fire and corn muffins baked in the sun oven. Its 100 degrees. Im not heating the house!

You should try just plain baked sweet potatoes with nothing added. I also like to top with cottage cheese and sweet smoked paprika. I lime to eat mostly one ingredient foods. Slice up a peach, roast some green beans and bake some pork. Delicious, simple and no extra “ingredients” that costs lots of money and has no nutritional value.

I love roasted green beans. Picked some from my garden and had them roasted for supper. I also cut a yellow squash I had picked into wedges and roasted along side the green beans. Served it with a couple of chicken tenderloins. Delicious!!

Love these kinds of videos! It is so economical and smart to cook from scratch and use up what we already have. It's also fun to stretch the creativity skills and modify recipes to one's own preferences. I know a few people who order out from restaurants, take out, grub hub and the like, then complain that they are so broke. But to be fair, they sure do have a cleaner kitchen than I do!

Meal prepping and batch cooking is life changing! It gives such a sense of accomplishment. It also prevents food waste. It's genius! I do it one day a week then clean the kitchen and it clears so much time for the whole week. I batch cook beef cubes and minced meat and freeze for the month. I cook pasta or rice for the following day or two. I batch cook one kilo of lentils and freeze in containers, prepare sauces, wash and cut vegis and cook, freeze or refrigerate.

I cook once; eat thrice. I try to cook a dinner meal and lunch. Hubs makes breakfast.
I use my mom’s meal planning template:
      One protein
      One complex carb
1-2 vegetable sides (not usually fancy)
      Snack/dessert

Love the slow cooker oatmeal…never thought about it. That is less expensive and more delicious than a packet of instant oatmeal! I’ve made banana oatmeal on the stovetop and that is delicious and a good way to use up ripe bananas. You could try overnight oats and baked oatmeal (pumpkin recipe is delicious) for something different.

Frugal fit mom, is really good too. I made something the other day. I cooked up hamburger meat. Add seasoning, garlic powder, chicken bouillon powder. Really any seasoning. The i cooked 2 oounds of frozen veggies. Then i out that all together. Then i added cream of chicken soup. Of course, cheese. Lol
    Preheat oven to 350
Let it finish backing for about 20 minutes or till ready. Man, it was so good. I'm not sure who's recipe it is.

I love a breakfast casserole like that--I add spinach in mine. I will try the SC Oatmeal--I've not cooked it like that before. I appreciate the inspiration.

Love it 😍. I’m a big fan of sweet potatoes. Though I typically only eat mashed around the holidays. Not that I couldn’t. Just don’t think about it. I usually roast or bake them. My favorite add ins are butter, cinnamon and coconut sugar. 😋

This series is amazing. I could watch this everyday😊. The pizza mac is a very creative idea. I would throw in some green peppers too.
I would use a lot less processed food though. Btw sweet potatoes are sweet enough without a sweetener, for us. Also we dont add butter. We steam and eat.mmaybe that is why I have never been overweight😂
