Have we been seeing hints at the return of the classic team up of Knuckles and the rest of the Chaotix? At the very least, we got the echidna on the scene with the modern detective agency in IDW. Also we have a rabbit dinner party to go to.

Vanilla doesn't NEED the chaos emeralds to gain her super form, she's *always* in her super form.
I think she was going to turn it by going teary eyed and saying, "what would your mother think of what you're doing?!"

Nah doesn’t look like it just give her the Chaos Emeralds and if that doesn’t work then give her the Super Emeralds

Now if only Mighty, Ray, Heavy, and Bomb were here so we could have the whole crew. Also enjoy how Storm is a more exploitive fighter going for grabs and using his enviorment, but still has his bumbling enough to be put on his backfoot when Knuckles does the same.
I'm not sure which is funnier, Knuckles not wanting to bring in Amy for tracking the Babylon Rogues, or Vanilla threatening to pummel Rough and Tumble.
I do like the first story with Knuckles and the chaotix working together. Gives pre Archie vibes with those four being apart of a team. All they need is Mighty and Ray and we would have a nice reunion of the old team from the old Archie days.
Throw in Heavy & Bomb too, get the whole band back together

The more Knuckles centric stories the better.

I appreciated that the floating Eggman monitor was a reference to his follow along in Shadow the Hedgehog. It's the small things sometimes :)
The Dinner at Cream's story actually was the more fun one to me in this pair of issues. I especially love how Vanilla went full anime rage when she saw the ruined dinner (seriously, she was delivering the energy of the Anti-Spiral avatar from Gurren Lagann) Though if I'm referencing cartoon energy I gotta say Eggman delivered some legit Mojo-jo-jo power with that "oh for the love of, NO! I had no intention of doing anything evil...today" interaction.
What they should have done with Vanilla was just say nine words to Rough and Tumble to break their wills and give up their lives of crime. "What would your mother think of what you're doing?"

4:47 Well Nick spot on with the observation on those 2 background characters being a reference, though to a videogame not an anime. Their designs are an homage to the vampire Remilia Scarlet and her maid Sakuya Izayoi from the Touhou series. As a huge Sonic and Touhou fan, particularly a fan of the residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, I got a kick out of this reference. Their names in universe are Stiletto the Fox and Piccola the Cat

This was such a sweet, low-stakes story. Those usually make the best kinds of comics for me.

I love how Eggman berates the gang for attacking so soon. They were the only ones who didn't get involved in the Eggperial City arc! I am certainly something bad is going to happen to the Restoration. All of this foreshadowing with Clutch, Mimic, and more. And I love that we got to see a more intimidating side to Vanilla. A lot of nostalgia in these issues, and the next one is certainly going to be interested.
Vanilla is such an underrated character. She's a super-mom and I think her relationship with Vector is adorable.
Also I love the Chaotix, they've been my favourite team since Heroes.
I do want to know what happened to Cream's dad first, as long as they don't make him out like a monster and Vector would be sympathetic to him being gone I'm fine with the two.

I find it humorous how multiple medias have Vector and Vanilla liking each other.
I’m glad that we get to see a cream and vanilla’s story in idw. I hope we can get more with them in later comics, plus I think the cream story help subconsciously promote Sonic Dream Team (Apple Arcade) since she’s playable again and definitely a key player in the story there.
i love how they made Vector and Vanilla basically a thing in the comics makes you think what there goanna do on Christmas.
I don't mind, but I don't want it to come at the cost Cream's father being portrayed as a monster. Personally, I want Vector to ask what happened to Mr. Rabbit and Vanilla would be hesitant to say but we get the feeling that it was a tragedy he can help her with.

Is it odd that i want to see a Vanilla 'ark' where she ends up kidnapped by eggman, but she politely berates him during the story, to the point when the heroes finally show up he just gives her up?

I love this story with how the villains acted and especially how Vanilla was about to up the age rating and make two skunks vanish from the series... Got to love how those eyes focused on them then glanced at her guests and she turns back to friendly mommy.
The skunks survived what would have been an interesting mystery encounter.

Plus it’s not like she’s alone either. Besides Gemerl she has two chao and one of them is super capable of throwing hands as seen in Sonic Advance 2 and Battle.
My mom used to let me look after dishes in progress in the kitchen when I was six, especially if she had to run to the store. This is a very familiar set-up; we just never had to worry about skunk villains wrecking our work. XD
There's no way the Chaotix don't get their own anniversary comic in 2025. I'm calling it now.
Knuckles Chaotix' actually gave Knuckles a better role as a leader than the awkward and often underutilised member of Team Sonic.
Honestly I’ve been wanting a modern Mighty for so long and I hope he joins the modern canon soon!
4:47 since Nick commented on it, I can at least confirm “yes, by technicality”. Those two characters are, from tallest to shortest, Stiletto the Fox and Piccola the Cat. They’re background OCs belonging to the main penciler for Relic Robbing Rumble, Mauro Fonseca, and yeah, they’re references to Touhou (I say technicality, since Mauro didn’t exactly deny it when someone asked on Twitter). The two actually debut in #64 and show up twice if you look carefully.
They’re just simple characters that show up in the background like a majority of other characters that were drawn by the IDW team, to help make scenes feel more alive aside from the main Sonic cast. Heck, Lanolin was once part of this cast of characters back in her, and the comic’s, early days as many may know.

You know what? I never realized until this Speed Reading right now how many thieves we have in this francise. Eggman is, Rouge is, the Chaotix can be, the Babylon Rogues are, there are comic specific characters that are. Some other characters are either mercenaries or bounty hunters that are not above stealing... There sure is a lot of it, huh

Cream and Vanilla are hugely underappreciated as characters, and I salute the comic for wanting to use them more than other Sonic media 😊

There is hope friend. A previous Video (Tails Tube) mentioned Mighty and Ray. Hopeful for 3d Mighty to arrive to main cannon/comics.
I know SEGA has a phobia to anything and everything Archie related but I would be thrilled if they brought back Mighty and Ray’s modern designs from there.

Honestly, I would like to see more works like this one with the theme of Sonic and his friends' daily lives.

I am glad that the comics even acknowledge this team up, even one where SEGA has full control of it.
this really gives me high hopes for a Knuckles' Chaotix mini-series/special within the classic Sonic IDW canon, specially considering how we had one for each of Team Sonic's members for each of their 30th anniversaries with Classic Sonic in 2021 and Tails Sky Patrol in 2022 so, It would be fair that Knuckles has his own in 2024.

I still think that if the Rogues ever appear in a new game or show, just direct their VAs to imitate the Real-Time Fandubs voices. Those voices are genuinely perfect for them and I'd love if some of their characterization (albeit greatly toned down for all ages) from the dubs were carried over too.
