- Yes. I made a video about these two silly robots. You'll be surprised just how much there is to say. These might be the most overlooked characters in the entire Sonic franchise...and they could have very well have saved Chaotix if given the chance.

I like to think Eggman spent a lot of time making Heavy and really considering how he could hinder the Chaotix, then at the last minute came to the conclusion he needed some explosive power, so he just took a random-ass unsentient Bomb from Starlight and gave it arms.
"ok, I got a heavy robot, what next.... Hmm... Oh shit I am out of time! Starline give me that bomb I need to make a badnik out of it!"

I wasn't sure how you could make Heavy or Bomb interesting but the idea of them needing to rely on each other sounds really cool.

Heavy would be a hard-to-stop juggernaut who could plow through everything with the power of raw momentum, while Bomb would be a rolling ball of death who could spend rings to pull off a Michael Bay.
Heavy could use his arms to give his enemies a wicked haymaker or deliver his partner as an explosive present to any local badnik, while Bomb would get to do all kinds of crazy stuff related to EXPLOSIONS, like launching Heavy forward like a speeding bullet or bomb jumping.

Since I never played Chaotix before, the footage of you playing with both Heavy and Bomb almost made the game look to me like a cute little 32x game SEGA randomly made
As if it was something entirely original and from the ground up. No sonic characters, no mention of Knuckles, it just looked like it was just a simple newly made game that took advantage of the 32x hardware.
It's crazy how the game never has implied that Heavy and Bomb work together, it's never implied they hang out and help each other out. And yet, through just hacking the game for them to work together, everything just suddenly clicks. It just looks seamless, as if they were made for each other, as if it was a canon thing this whole time

Heavy could be a very early failed egg robo prototype... Since eggrobo is designed to have psuedo sentients..... And as we know certain powers can grant them true independence (sonic mania)

Honestly this video has really convinced me that heavy and bomb should show up in IDW
I had an idea that modern versions of heavy and bomb could be powered by wisps, namely a grey quake wisp and a black bomb wisp, to have these two essentially have a symbiotic relationship with themselves - the wisps grant them power that far exceeds the above-average badnik, and in turn, they protect the wisps from harm. They could work in a gamma-style story, but without them dying at the end due to them fearing that eggman would simply recapture the wisps and build new, non-intelligent robots to put them in

One day can you do Julie-Su though, how I was introduced to the sonic world as a young girl was actually through Knuckles comics, and when I read them I enjoyed them but felt disconnected because all the characters in the random issues I read were guys, I felt like I couldn’t be apart of this amazing world for being a girl. But then one issue I read had Julie-Su in it and I was at the time just like “Who is that?!😮” Here was a female character who was pink and purple, but just as a badass as the main character and in someways was better. I got my father to buy me knuckles volumes just so I could read HER stories. I have since expanded to all Sonic comic media, and Sally because my favourite character, but you already did her and you did her amazing and it would just be wonderful for you to do a summery of her story and why she matters. I don’t know if you will actually read this, I don’t fully understand how commenting on popular RUclipsr’s works, but if you do, thanks for reading my story. I really like your channel.

Call It a guilty pleasure but I actually did enjoy playing as one of them as a kid.
Me and my friends used to do a “Payload challenge” where you play as mighty and hold bomb through out the entire level. It was pretty fun and I kind of want to do it again.

Honestly love the thought that Heavy & Bomb were created to slow down and hinder the Chaotix, but they accidently gain sentience and choose to help the Chaotix instead.
Playing as Charmy with Heavy as your partner breaks the entire game. Including the Metal Sonic fight. Thank me later.

I find it really fascinating that Heavy and Bomb seemed to have been designed to be "hindrances". They really do serve a cool mechanical purpose in the game they came from.

Technically this is this "Bomb's" first appearance, but there were the Bomb badniks in games before this like Sonic 1 in Starlight Zone and Scrap Brain Zone

It's a perfect team up. A guy why destroys everything around it, finding kinship with an indestructible robot. Neither can be un-roboticized as Heavy can't be cut, and bomb is too volitile.
Got to say, Gamma's story in adventure impacted me more than I realized. I have alot of sympathy for robots created fir nefarious reasons turning traitor and joining good guys or finding whats important to them. It also feels like Sonic encrouching on a megaman plotline which we could do more with since Robotnick's creations besides more egg pawns or him harnessing some ancient power.
I honestly have a soft spot for the two doofy robots. I find them quite charming and oddly cute. Not sure if it is because they don't have faces along with having pretty simple designs which gives more room to the imagination. I would love to see them back in some way.

I like the idea of this heavy indestructible robot tethered to a light explosives robot as a game like they can swing another around, heavy could be like a wrecking ball and Bomb could slingshot themselves by having heavy standstill and having bomb run back and fire forward. Just rework Bomb exploding when he is hit to only when he is fired or thrown and give Heavy a good throwing arm so they could chuck Bomb up to high places and that seems like a fun game.
I always found Heavy & Bomb hilarious, I love the idea that his too derpy robots escaped to try and screw over the Chaotix. I think it would be interesting to see if they are powered by flickies inside like the other badniks, I’d love it if they came back someday and when they died it would show the flicky flying out. XD
If they're brought back, being a two-for-one with the Combi mechanic is a must.

Im pretty sure that bomb appears as a reference in Sonic Mania too. I remember seeing them as a constellation in Stardust Speedway act 1.

This is gonna sound weird, but Heavy and Bomb were a couple of my favorite Sonic characters when I was a kid. They were the first badniks to go rogue, and I loved their unique, kooky designs! I always thought it sucked how unceremoniously they were disposed of in the comic, but was happy to see them return years later once again as part of the freedom fighters.
I really hope they show up again someday, somehow!
I really like the concept of a game about two robots fleeing eggman's empire. The tether mechanic could be explained easily if they were captive, and the Levels can be the reverse of Sonic's, going from mechanical to tropical.

Heavy and Bomb are secretly the most important characters in Sonic history
This video made me realize heavy and bomb are awesome!! What If bomb can turn near by rings into fire rings and hurl them at enemies and these rings explode. But because they're rings they don't hurt the player or ally . And with heavily since he's a little simpler he can be a little slow but also when he falls he makes a shock wave that destorys every enemy on the ground and even opens item box's and even makes rings fall down so you can grab them. Also these characters can't drown. And if Bomb explodes underwater he can shoot himself out of it potentially. Maybe Heavy can be used like a wrecking ball. And he can maybe jump high thanks to those springy legs. I have alot of ideas for these cool bots thanks to this video. Toot toot Game Apologist, seeya in the next vid :)
I think Heavy and Bomb are well meaning. They're good and want to help. Not the strongest and most all powerful. But they're honestly really fun and cute. I like them. They're just some nice robo buddies.

I feel like I heard of Bomb and Heavy a long time ago, and I didnt really play Sonic games as a kid.
You know, the idea you mention about with Bomb and Heavy being reintegrated into the franchise via taking Orbot and Cubot's role in Sonic Colors and onward covers my major problem with how characters are handled in the series: characters are always introduced to cover one role and then are usually thrown off to the side instead of just reusing characters. I think Heroes had the right idea by bringing back Team Chaotix (or at least three of the members) instead of just making a new team all together. Not to say they shouldn't introduce new characters, as I'm all for that nor do I think they should bring back characters that are dead within the universe (Like Tikal and Gamma), but I would also like the folks over at Sega to use the characters they already have at hand. Want Blaze to have a buddy in Rush Adventure? Just bring back Cream. Want to have another powerhouse in the series that isn't Knuckles? Use Mighty. Want a third protag in Forces alongside Sonic and the avatar? Just make it Shadow, they ended up using him after the game's release.
My apologizes for the little tangent, it's just something that came to mind when you brought the idea up.
I remember first seeing them in the Sonic Select comic collection for the first time and then reading the Comic Encyclopedia just to see they turned evil, died, and then came back good. I was so confused

Both Heavy and Bomb gets a massive glow up with their moves.
The former becomes like Wario from Warioland, while the latter becomes a rocket jump character. They even have Heavy and Demoman's easter egg.
A game where these two robots escape from Dr. Robotnik's factory sounds like a solid game I would have a blast playing! I really want this game now...

So trying to beat knuckles chaotix with heavy and bomb
I’ve figured out that, while playing as heavy with bomb as a partner, you can get crazy height, because apparently when not holding a direction and having bomb hold still, you become nearly weightless, combine that with an upward throw, and since bomb gets thrown crazy far, you can get sick air and go up 3 screens with a single throw
And heavy does not get hirt by bombs explosions

There are two kinds of Eggman robot: The loyal, and the _intelligent._
This has been the case as far back as '94, in Knuckles' story for 3&K. Either Eggrobo or Mecha Sonic is acting independently in that game, with the other serving whichever one is in charge, at least until Mecha Sonic kills Eggrobo.
From then on it's just a cavalcade of robots that get smart breaking away from him.
Gamma? Went rogue. Omega? Really pissed about being locked in a room for a long while. Gemerl? Man did _not_ learn his lesson about that adorable little bot and the Chaos Emeralds in the previous game, did he? Neo Metal Sonic? Tried to take over the world and became the only being short of _Solaris_, the _extradimensional, universe-eating god_ that can actually harm Super Sonic. And sure, Metal's not betrayed him again, but whether Eggman built a new one, or he downgraded the extant one, Metal's not been nearly as intelligent as he was since then.
Even _Orbot_ isn't loyal to the guy. He constantly needles Eggman and openly voices that he'd like to ditch his creator and join up with Sonic during Lost World. He's like one power boost away from being the next Neo Metal.
The way I see it, Eggman's wackiness and fun side just doesn't work with the cold, mechanical logic of a computer brain, so any of his machines that get sufficiently smart get thrown for a loop by all the perceived incompetence of their master and break programming one way or another. For Omega, he couldn't understand why Eggman used useless Eggpawns and Badniks over him, a robot that could actually keep up with Sonic.
Well, except Gemerl, I guess. That's just a Gizoid doing what a Gizoid do.
My intro to Heavy and Bomb was the end of the “Songoose” arc in the Archie comics that you mentioned. Since I knew squat about Knuckles Chaotix at the time, I thought they were comic original at first.
That could be a cool game where you got to escape and Metal Sonic is the one coming after you and at the end you get a boss fight that's a combination of the CD and mania boss fights where you got to kind of Dodge him as he's chasing after you and throw bomb in order to hit him
Honestly, I’d love to see these guys come back as playable characters. I love when games have a character that you can play as just to challenge yourself.
